The Master Chief’s arrival on PC will happen in stages with each title releasing one by one over time - giving the development teams the ability to ensure each one is right, while giving players a chance to jump in right away, rather than having to wait for the entire suite of games to be completed. Our current plan is for this journey to begin with the launch of Halo: Reach – the fictional beginnings of Master Chief’s saga – with the rest of the titles following in chronological order thereafter. Halo: Reach, Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST (Campaign), and Halo 4 will each be available for individual purchase within MCC as they become available.

The madmen have done it! Even coming to Steam. Crazy times we live in folks.

Hope this somehow works on win 7... looking forward to it nonetheless, I liked halo 1 and 3
i'm gonna go with "no" on this one .... ever if it worked with DX11 - there's still that XBL integration thingy which i'm pretty sure won't work on win7, so ...

I hope MS will release all their first party titles on Steam. I just hope that I don't need an Xbox Live account to play singleplayer content. And if so, that it's not some bullshit like GFWL. Depends on what they'll announce at E3 regarding Gamepass on PC, I wouldn't mind to get the games from there instead of buying them on Steam.

Good job MS!

This is amazing news! Seems my worries that MCC would be the acceptance for UWP on PC wasn't necessary. No doubt Microsoft does this to create some goodwill among PC gamers, but this is a great way to do so.

Really curious if we can expect more of Microsofts 1st party games on Steam using the Xbox Live API.

I'm not a big Halo fan, I've only played some of the previous games because my little brother asked to complete the Legendary campaigns with him.

But I'll probably still buy this on Steam. I want more Microsoft games in the future! And when I say games, I mean the ones from Obsidian. :cat-pizza-blob:

They are bringin dx12 to windows 7 too
Yeah I'm hoping that means it will be the same for these games. Not a big deal at the end to update to win 10 but I have some work related stuff that are tied to this win 7 machine so I'd rather not having to go through the trouble updating just for some video games, not to mention having to pay for it.

Will the pack be purchasable as a whole or our only option will be to buy the games separately? Also, just to make sure, will Windows 7 and 8 be supported on the Steam version?

Both - It's the players choice if they'd like to purchase each of the games within MCC one-by-one as they release or wait and pick them all up at the end.
Currently our focus is on Win10 and Win7. Win8 is still being investigated.

  • Priority is Halo: Reach but Halo: CE is being worked on parallel. No timeline cause they don't want to rush
  • Working on AC, will provide details later
  • No "season pass", buy game 1 by 1 or just wait to buy them all
  • Working with members of the modding community but prolly that will be enabled after release
  • Plans for uncapped framerate
  • MCC on Steam will require a Microsoft Account
  • Exploring options for current MCC owners on Xbox
  • No current plans for Halo 5
My summary, I skipped some of the competitive MP stuff though
