I guess seeing the town with modern graphics is kinda interesting, but everything regarding the plot, the characters and story is already so well known. What's the point in revisiting it? Really doesn't strike me as anything interesting.

I think the remake looks good, just pointless for people who played it or can play old games without caring about their technical qualities or potentially clunky (read: not the same as every modern action game nowadays) gameplay. Of course I'm sure people who want it to be 1:1 will find many faults, like say, character faces, mannerisms, but whatever. I won't play it, but can see it being the way new players prefer to experience it vs playing the original in some botched port

Silent Hill F definitely looks the most interesting out of these projects.
Higurashi Writer is cool, the modern+traditional japan setting is a great choice, even it's far removed from the actual town of Silent Hill.

The live action series with community choices looks like a really interesting project on its own, but it probably won't end up being great because either the writing quality will be compromised or the choices will be fake, also behavior games lol

Silent Hill Townfall will probably be pretty great, the dev knows who to make good horror atmosphere with little effort.

Given that there isn't a good port of Silent Hill 2 to any modern platforms, excluding the PC fanpatch, i think its a fair choice to do a remake of it in a vacuum. Primary question being, if bloober of all things can pull it off.

Stand alone stories so no. First one as usual is considered too old by the companies and modern gamers to be fun, being originally on PS1 (of course they could have remade it but 2 is probably the more famous of the two games and the one considered more ground breaking for whatever reason, I like both the same). You're probably thinking of the 2 remaster/port that came out, outside PS2 they've all been kinda botched technically, the first PS1 one hasn't been re-released.

Silent Hill 1 is 100% worth playing on an emulator or an actual Playstation, it's a game made by very talented artists that understand how to work with the limitations of a medium in such a way that the game even today is insanely atmospheric.

The whole Silent Hill Fog that the franchise is iconic for only exists because of the limitations at the time and the way the devs used these limitations to their advantage for example.

However, Silent 2 can be enjoyed fully standalone, it takes only place in the same city is all.

Silent Hill 3 is a direct Sequel to Silent Hill 1 tho, but that's not the one being remade (yet).
