The Doom news is the worst. They even delayed Doom 64 wtf?

Now I have nothing left to look forward to this year.
:(

Sucks but seriously, the final year of this gen (2020) and the weird cross over period (late 2020-2021) looks fucking STACKED. Start clearing those backlogs and save your cash peeps.

As always, I'd rather have a feature complete, technically sound game released under none workshop like conditions over my desire to have it NOW. Yes I'm a bit disappointed but shit happens.

The first half of next year is stacking up like crazy. So many big games releasing on so many different platforms.

Everyone is in a rush to release their stuff before E3 since all news from that point on will be on new consoles and soon to be downgraded next gen games + all the other buzzwords.

It's a shame, but with the pressure to release games I doubt the decision to delay came lightly. I'd really rather have it pushed back to release a better, more complete product without having to deal with insane levels of dev crunch.

Kinda disappointed that Doom 64 will only drop next year but well, my backlog isn't going anywhere.

... and FFVIIR, lol. Luckily i doubt there's much crossover in the fanbase between the three of them.

new gameplay for Bushiden
Not bad for a 3-man indie team.
That said, I still want to be hyper critical about it because I like good games (despite being too apathetic to send said feedback to the devs themselves).
Instead thought, I'll post a video of another game, one that I very much like, and allow you the viewer to make the comparison.
The GOTY 2019 just died

It is now GOTY 2020 instead
Guess they didn't want to compete with Sekiro for the awards, smart move.
In seriousness though, I was expecting this delay, everything about Eternal sounded very ambitious. Let's hope the final product reflects that.

I tapped out on buying shit like a year ago and I've stayed pretty strong to that. I've completed around 25 games this year and STILL, the backlog is a fucking mountain.

Someone has to release a damn game called "backlog simulator" at this point, just to drive home how overflooded all of this shit is. If you care about playing games, you play them. If you care about playing games, you buy them. If you care about playing games, you grouse over your backlog and bemoan the coming must have titles. Its the wheel of modern gaming (and ESPECIALLY pc gaming).

I'm renting control (PS4) in a week from the library once my hold comes in and I'm backlogging and free gaming this Halloween. Fuck the wheel, I want off.

The Doom Eternal news is fine, I just hope that they didn't delayed it to figure out how to monetize the shit out the game, because that pvp mode they showed was garbage.

I was bored
So
I
compiled a list of what games I own taht released in 2010 that I plan on playing after I go through my 2009 games~
2010-
Toki Tori Remake
Alice in Wonderland
Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing
Just Cause 2
Mount and Blade Warband
Future Wars
Toy Story Mania!
Dark Void Zero
Split Second
Eversion
Jolly Rover
Battle for Cybertron
Mytheon
Voodoo Dice
Alter Ego
Kane and Lynch 2
OASE
Faerie Solitaire
Lost Horizon
Nyxquest
Lara Croft GoL
Medal of Honor '10
Doc Clock
Grotesque Tactics?
Lost Planet 2?
Mater's Tall Tales
Fallout NV
Puzzle Bots
Force Unleashed 2
Deathspank
Shank
Alternativa
Hot Pursui 2010
Nail'd
Tron Evolution
Munch's Oddysee

I'll be following a rule: If a game becomes to dull for me, I will drop it.
Interestingly enough
there are a variety of racing games released in 2010 that I own, will be interesting for me to finally finish HP 2010, so one thing I'll do is play through these racing games alongside whatever 'side' game comes on the list.
Arrange all your games by release date (on Steam) and...it paints an interesting picture. It is impressive when you get to see what games you owned from each year and what games RELEASED on that particular year.

but ya I have been feeling strange since at least the end of August, I was worried back then about my health but now that I'm feeling better health wise (I had chronic ear infections) and I guess I'm just worried about what I'm going to do with my life, playing games does help a bit but it is not the best solution

I hope it's okay that I post stuff like this since it does help me a bit

Uncompressed assets + devs not giving a flying fuck about your HDD space.
Don't worry the PS5 is hear to save the day with it's custom made SSD that will make it possible for devs to make games smaller

I will set one rule though: Games whose SP mode can be beaten and played co-op, local or online will likely not be played. I enjoyed RE5 co-op with my friend, so a game like RE6....well if I don't find a co-op partner I can still play and enjoy it solo :p

The explanation about not needing assets multiple times because of low access times actually makes sense but I doubt it'll lead to smaller games, those 100GB discs will get filled anyway. But maybe new consoles supporting partial installations (revolutionary!1) will lead to more PC devs utilizing that feature on Steam, beyond some Call of Dutys not many have. Though who knows if it even makes sense, I assume many assets get used across different playmodes anyway. Same for the PS5 OS allowing you to jump directly into multiplayer lobbies or single player without going through the main menu, sounds nice (and I wish server browsers outside of games were still a thing on PC) but mostly because getting a game started on PS4 takes a fuckton of time.

Indivisible is out, and they only released the .exe file....

Seems likely its a bug or they shipped the DLC instead of the main game. Uninstalling the game and re-installing it after restarting steam should have all the game's files intact.

blizzard is dumb and bad
Uninstalled the Battle.Net launcher after they banned an HK player and the two casters. They need to grow a proper spine for once instead of going for that Chinese moolah (since China is the hugest video games market). I'm never buying/playing a Blizzard game again after this. Entering the Chinese gaming market is a huge nightmare. Either you adhire to China's social core values 100% or you're shit out of luck. This is why I, as a game developer in training, am scared of making my games available to China (as well as losing the trust of domestic players).

I'm very concerned about continuing playing COD Mobile. Otherwise, I'm done with that series and Activision.

Soooo Guacamelee 1 has 2 versions released. Which of the two versions is the one to play?
Super Turbo has more content. I don't know which I prefer, but they're both good. Make sure you head over to the workshop and pick up some skins. Tomb Raider, Bayo, Samus, etc. It's a really great feature.

Did the same today with Battle.Net.

I'm also considering doing the same for the League of Legends launcher. It seemed very much like they were censoring the name of a Hong Kong based team today (Hong Kong Attitude), and that they tried to censor the post-game winners' interview with the team (cut to a break before airing the interview, which they never usually do).

But I'm going to wait a little bit to see if anything else comes out about their stance towards Hong Kong, or if it was possibly the casters independently being cowardly during the cast today. Not likely, but possible.

That sounds really scummy of them. Isn't Riot a complete subsidiary of Tencent Games?
Good thing I don't play LoL anymore since their treatment of their female staff.

Riot is owned by Tencent, i don't think you need to ask what their stance is on that stuff.

That's a real nice list of games that just came out a couple months ago.
I'll say it's a real nice list of games that just came out a couple of weeks ago. Or days. Or hours. :steam_cleanseal:

About that, I released this article this morning, a recap of news (releases, announcements, articles and videos) :

Oh I know, I'm fairly sure they're going to be pro-CCP or at least not pro-HK. I'm not quite going to delete the client yet, but my playing will pretty much be on hiatus right now. I like a number of the casters enough that I'm willing to give them a small chance to redeem themselves after today.

Mostly because I'm curious to see how they handle Hong Kong Attitude in their future matches, and how they handle any pro-HK statements that other pros might make. There are a few pros I can think of that might be willing to stick a finger in Riot's eyes to see what they do.

The subreddit which is run by riot was censoring hundreds of comments and posts mentioning the hong kong situation. Scummy as shit
