ATOM RPG: Post-apocalyptic indie game

ATOM RPG is a post-apocalyptic indie game, inspired by classic CRPGs: Fallout, Wasteland, System Shock, Deus Ex, Baldur's Gate and many others.

In 1986 both the Soviet Union and the Western Bloc were destroyed in mutual nuclear bombings. You are one of the survivors of the nuclear Holocaust. Your mission - to explore the wild and wondrous world of the Soviet Wasteland. To earn your place under the sun. And to investigate a shadowy conspiracy, aimed at destroying all that is left of life on Earth.

ATOM RPG is:

A powerful character creation tool, aimed at making the wasteland hero you want to portray!
A balanced roleplaying system inspired by GURPS. Each stat combination provides a unique gaming experience, unique dialogues, and new ways to solve some of the quests!
Dozens of skills, from lockpicking to gambling!
Many hours of gameplay on all sorts of locations. Meet the other survivors in a brave new settlement, built from the dust of the old world. Venture into the wilds, where mutated creatures and savage bandits lurk. Work out the secrets of an old military bunker. Or simply lose yourself, fishing at a scenic pond...
Turn-based combat, inspired by Fallout 1 and 2.

Random encounters with the dwellers of the Soviet Wasteland - both friendly and dangerous. Sometimes all at the same time...
Many deep, multiple-choice dialogues that feel like real conversations with the unique NPCs of the game.
Nonlinear gameplay! Dozens of quests, each with many alternative solutions. Play the game like You want to!

I'm definitely thinking about picking this up. It looks a lot better than it seems.

I think a detriment to this game is the name as it appears on Steam: ATOM RPG: Post-apocalyptic indie game, even the short version of ATOM RPG could be a hindrance.

I don't think I'm alone in this thought. English may not be the developer's first language. I kind of just wish it was called ATOM or ATOM - Dead City. The game's current title might be turning people away at it being of lesser quality, to which I've heard the COMPLETE opposite, that this game really good.

I always think that the complaints about the title as silly, and I doubt people were pushed away by the title. They are probably not interested in the game in the first place. Yes, title is important, but what matters is the game.

Anyway, it's amazing how much the game has evolved since release. So many things fixed and added for free, kudos to the devs. I can't recommend this piece of a gem enough, and I'll gladly replay it sometime down the road.

forgot to include the isometric update info itself :)

Hello, friends!

It is time to publish yet another large patch for the game. This time around we fixed all of the new bugs the community found, as well as optimized the soundscape, left handed person accessibility, and controller support for the game.

Also, we added the new camera mode to the game, that puts the view into isometric projection. This mode is a new feature we are developing for the Trudograd standalone expansion, but we just couldn’t stop ourselves from adding it into the original game as well, both for testing purposes and because we think you just might like it. The mode can be toggled from the menu.

Thank you for being with us, and let there be ATOM!

Hawk Dead City was iirc just a name for upate v1.1 ... and seems like they are currently also developing Trudograd standalone expansion
Speaking of Trudograd, the development is going swimmingly. The standalone expansion now features 20+ characters, with unique portraits and dialogues, 10+ quests, a new mob enemy, and a few new mechanics. You can follow our work at our social media accounts if you want:

Yes, it is silly. But I still think it's a contributing factor. It's out of norms for a game to be named that way, I plan to get it because of its improvements, not the title.

Yeah, okay. Even then, "Atom" would work just as well.

Latest update on Trudogard.
At the moment, Atom RPG: Trudograd has been in Early Access for six months, but during this time it has outgrow our initial plan for a small story expansion. Now it’s shaping out to be a real game with many new characters and quests, made with a new level of quality.

Of course, this transformation required significantly more time than we originally planned for, but we hope that it will pay off in the most important thing - creating the kind of game that you expect from us!

We plan to release the full game in the beginning of 2021. Hopefully not even reaching a year in Early Access :)
