GEAR UP FOR A NIGHT ON THE TOWN! The second expansion for BATTLETECH is coming to a city near you on June 4.

Urban Warfare brings 'Mech combat to the vast cityscapes of the Inner Sphere! Electronic warfare, large-scale building destruction, environmental mechanics, new enemy units and more make the urban sprawl a whole new battlefield.

Urban Warfare
Street brawls introduce new tactical gameplay challenges as ‘Mech combat moves from wide-open natural landscapes to vast urban sprawls. Every building in the new urban biome is fully destructible, so you’re never more than a few salvos away from a new line of sight, or the defensive cover of high-rise rubble. Abandoned explosive fuel trucks, destroyed coolant exchanger buildings, and broken electrical transformers that disrupt targeting will drastically change the battle as you go.

Electronic Warfare
The return of these lost technologies will forever change the 31st century battlefield. ‘Mechs equipped with Electronic Countermeasures (ECM) and nearby friendly units are obscured from enemy targeting systems and immune to indirect fire. Meanwhile, ‘Mechs equipped with Active Probe can reveal, locate, and target enemy units that would otherwise be hidden.

Two New BattleMechs
The experimental Raven 1X sports an advanced electronic warfare package that combines ECM and Active Probe systems into a lightweight component. The Javelin is a compromise between speed and firepower, with close-range knockout power.

New Flashpoints
A wide variety of new branching short stories that link together mercenary missions, crew conversations, special events, critical choices, and rare bonus rewards, as well as a new mini-campaign in which you'll join forces with the famed Andurien Defenders to discover the truth behind their ghoulish disputes.

Three New Enemy Vehicles
The Tank sports a variety of weapons to fight at all ranges with speed and agility, the Packrat is a battlefield support vehicle equipped with a prototype version of ECM, and the Rotunda is a reconnaissance vehicle equipped with a prototype version of Active Probe.

New Encounter
Attack and Defend is a challenging new mission type where your mercenaries must destroy an enemy’s base to stop a steady stream of attackers before they can overcome your forces and knock out your employer’s base.

INCLUDED IN THE BATTLETECH SEASON PASS!

Hell yes. Hype AF for this. I am obviously biased as a backer from the Kickstarter, but I was underwhelmed by Flashpoint. The stuff coming in this pack looks more to my liking. I know the ECM Raven is a cool thing in the lore, but I'm way more hyped for the Javelin. More cool building destruction is good too.

I got stressed about gearing up my mecs..I didn't really play the base game...
Honestly unless you were trying for a harder difficulty level than normal, in the campaign you needn't have worried. The regular campaign missions give tons of money to buy lots of toys.

In the career mode it's much dicier, but you can definitely get by. The loadouts don't need to be tweaked to be effective. As long as you stick the role the mech plays ( going for knock downs vs armor piercing vs heat, etc) you can do just fine with stock mechs and just replacing weapons with their same + variants that do more damage or less heat or whatever.

Going full custom is fun but really easy to screw yourself if you're not careful. Lose too much armor and you die to stuff breeze, too much heat and you fry after 1 strike, etc. Fancy lostech helps later in the game but that stuff is hard to keep in you are prone to dying. Just play the game and get good at the tactics part and you'll be fine.

Also leveling, I have no clue how to level my pilots. Guess if I finish duck I will go for this. I haven't even started xcom 2 (xcom 1 base management turned me off)

Downunder.
Yeah, I was kinda lukewarm on Flashpoint. Urban Warfare looks like it's going to be more interesting. Still planning to get the season pass either way though. I just hope that with the environmental destruction thing it won't tank the framerate (by much).

One of my top 3 GOTY of 2018.

But why are the DLCs so expensive? The season pass is more pricey than the base game, and they don't offer the same amount of content, far from it.

If you messed up a pilot's skills, you can always recruit another one. It's easy to carry a rookie pilot in later parts of the game.

I know this is off-topic, but I really want Harebrained to go back to making RPGs like Shadowrun. I would love to see them tackle World of Darkness.

I finished the campaign and I loved the game, but I’m not sure what it would take to bring me back again, even thought I bought the season pass...

Bought the Season Pass long ago. Looking forward to it, but just don't feel like starting a new campaign right now.
I think I'll just play the new FPs with my over-leveled and over-equipped crew.

WoW, performance in Urban areas is terrible for me. It never was good in the first place, but this is getting a bit hard to enjoy.
I'm talking 30-40 fps on a 2080Ti at 1440p.

As has been tradition with these HBS releases, they play like total garbage on release unless your rig is monstrous. Battletech in particular has had performance problems since the jump off with running at 60fps on any system.

I just gave up eventually and settled on 30. It was possible to hit 60 but I had to compromise too much image quality, so I cranked it all up and was happy with 30. With the turn-based nature of the combat it didn't both me much.

final DLC

Eight new ‘Mechs have been added to the world of BATTLETECH, including seven classic designs from the original board game along with a never-before-seen ‘Mech designed exclusively for this expansion. New methods of destruction await as eight devastating weapons systems are now available to wreak havoc like never before. Heavy Metal takes ‘Mech action to the next level with a brand new Flashpoint Mini-Campaign featuring two legendary characters from the famous mercenary group, Wolf’s Dragoons, and a mysterious derelict cargo ship.

ONE ORIGINAL AND SEVEN CLASSIC BATTLEMECHS
Seven classic ‘Mechs from BATTLETECH’s 35-year legacy make their triumphant return along with the first completely new ‘Mech designed exclusively for this expansion. Each classic ‘Mech comes with unique equipment that reflects the flavor and lore of the original board game.

EIGHT GAME-CHANGING NEW WEAPON SYSTEMS
Eight all-new weapon systems can be utilized to destroy even the most formidable opponents in a wide variety of unique ways: the new ‘Mech Mortar is the first AOE weapon in BATTLETECH that can destroy multiple units at once while the new Inferno Missiles coat a target in burning fuel causing enemies to shut down in combat.

NEW FLASHPOINT MINI-CAMPAIGN
Come face-to-face with two legendary characters from BATTLETECH lore - the Bounty Hunter and the Black Widow of Wolf’s Dragoons. A derelict cargo ship has drifted into the Periphery from deep space; what secrets does it contain, and who will ultimately control its mysterious payload?

I think if you're looking for things to extend a game this stuff is great. Flashpoint has some good things that make the open spacefaring stuff more fun. This looks like more of that.

If you're looking for story stuff to add on to the campaign, this is all inessential.

I think HBS is looking to eventually turn this game into something like Crusader Kings 2 but space and mechs. I'm not really sure they've hit that mark but it seems like what they are going for.

And with Mechwarrior 5 coming out next month, huh?

Interesting.
I was looking at the Battletech DLC and nobody seems to like it.

All mixed reviews.

Wow.
The first one was okay, a couple of new cool missions. A couple of new mechs, that you'll use for 2-3h before moving on to stronger ones.

Urban on the other side was underwhelming. Bad performance, the maps didn't work well with the game mechanics, felt very tagged on.

Heavy Metal: Not sure about that one, but I bought the season pass a long time ago (enjoyed the main game a lot, 180+ hours). It's a small team, it's a hard game to sell and I love the franchise.

At least there is no other Mechwarrior Game coming out this year. ;)

I've spent some more time with this game with all the DLCs and it really is improved.

There is a ton more variety in the random contracts The urban seeing in particular is great, but all the new mission types are pretty good.

I haven't found any of the heavy metal mechs yet, but serval of the weapons are fun to use (mech shotguns!!!) and all the new ones have interesting roles due to built-in equipment (dedicated melee defense mods, laser enhancement after jumping, and way more).

The game is definitely better than it was at release.

Yeah, sounds like the game changed a bit.
I'll probably start a new campaign once I'm done with the new Total Warhammer 2 DLC.

Damn. i was really looking forward to see what they would do with a Battletech 2 or something, but it sounds like HBS is gonna do other projects for a while. Maybe they come back to Battletech in a few years. I can dream.

Sounds like that's it for BattleTech licensed games for a while.
Too bad, I hoped this one and Mechwarrior 5 would bring new interest to the universe. But in the end we had at least one, new, good game in two decades and I'm not looking at you Mech 5.
