  • Added Firepower: A new set of six named, custom-skinned Legendary weapons make the base game’s arsenal even deeper. Beat bosses or gather Golden Keys for a chance to collect ‘em all.
  • Badder Boss Battles: In direct response to fan feedback, the campaign ’s final boss encounter has been adjusted to be more engaging, challenging, and rewarding.
  • Cosmetic Customization: For the first time, you will be able to customize your Vault Hunter beyond simply selecting a color scheme. Each of the four available characters has five brand new cosmetic heads unlocked and equippable right from the start of the game.
  • Now Available on Modern Consoles: Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition makes the original Borderlands readily available on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 for the first time, in addition to providing a newly enhanced and visually remastered version for PC players .
  • Free to Existing Owners on PC: If you already own the original Borderlands on Steam, you’ll be able to upgrade to Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition absolutely free.

Looks like an expandalone. I mean you can notice higher polycount on characters and some better lighting method and everything but in the actual moment to moment gameplay it just looked like more of the same. After three games and a ton of DLC I'm not sure I want that, it needs a new gameplay feel/hook for me. The gunplay was always pretty weak, if they haven't improved that then even more loot and theme park areas to go through won't make me very interested.

That's why I'm hoping RAGE 2 is everything it can be, id's rad gunplay (it was solid even in RAGE 1) and a lack of emphasis on loot and ever increasing numbers over moment to moment fun might make for a shorter game but a much more enticing premise. As long as the stars aligned right and we get the best results.

I never played the first, played a lot of B2, but I never finished it. Maybe I should?

I'm not sure I'll jump on this until a deep discount in the future, or if I just happen to play the first two.

You might want to add Tales from the Borderlands & Pre-Sequel to that list. They're also canon to the story & add a whole bunch of characters & lore!

Ayy a really good definitive edition of the game! I just hope they balance achievement requirements or lower the number of waves in Mad Moxxi's Underdome, that shit was horrible to get done.

Also being free for exisiting owners is a really big plus imo.
What genre are these games?

This is how I feel. I got sick of the Borderlands formula about halfway through 2 and was never able to get into the rest of the main games (I played 2 first) after that, but I still really wish I could get into them. The world & art style is incredible, there's a lot to love and I happened to love all of that in Tales From The Borderlands. Went into the announcement hoping they would mix it up somehow and they definitely didn't.

Epic store or not, I was going to pass on Borderlands 3 (and any future Gearbox games) because of what happened with Colonial Marines and because Pitchford is an insufferable prick.

So, B3 is a six month exclusive? That's stupid to throw money at a six month exclusive.
I can easily see take two asking for $100 million or more for a full 1 year so that would explain why Epic went down to 6 months.

It shouldn't be very hard for PC gamers to wait 6 months but it's still bullshit we have to go through this at all. Tired of this console tactic being used on PC and worrying that every game I want to play is going to get bought off.

Seems he's having fun with the exclusivity deal. How nice of him.

Exactly. If Borderlands 3 sells well on EGS (and it will), the flood doors are wide open for more exclusivity deals. Even worse: it may lead to devs and publishers going permanent EGS exclusive because of the lower cut. No doubt that's what Sweeney meant when he said that the storefront war will be won with developers instead of consumers.

Honestly, the EGS deal killed my interest in the game entirely. I might be biased here, but I think I can live without BL3. I'm looking forward to Doom Eternal, Rage 2 might turn out good, there are plenty of interesting "old school", fast paced indy shooters coming (or already out).

I never played 1. I enjoyed 2 and never finished it. Now with this, I don't even care for it at all.

E3 trailer for 3

+ the final DLC for 2
Commander Lilith & the Fight for Sanctuary will be available for free to all owners of Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Handsome Collection until July 8 at 06:59:59 UTC (11:59:59 PDT). Requires Borderlands 2 or Borderlands: The Handsome Collection to play.

Return to the award-winning shooter-looter for an all-new adventure that sets the stage for the upcoming Borderlands 3. Sanctuary is under siege, the Vault Map has been stolen, and a toxic gas is poisoning Pandora. Battle new bosses, explore new areas, collect new loot (including an entirely new tier beyond Legendary), and join up with Lilith and the Crimson Raiders to take on a deranged villain hell-bent on ruling the planet.

Returning players can pursue an increased level cap of 80, while newcomers can automatically boost to level 30 and dive straight into the action.

I'm not much of a fan of Borderlands. I remember playing Borderlands 2, and turning the game off and never returning after I got stuck on a portaloo door. The general pacing and flow of the game just wasn't clicking with me.

However, I gotta say that Borderlands 3 looks pretty damn slick. There's some sour undertones such as the new Claptrap voice actor who doesn't sound anywhere near as good as the original guy, but this strikes me as a game that's probably going to be pretty damn good in spite of Randy's infamously poor management skills and the behind the scenes drama at Gearbox. The graphical upgrade over Borderlands 2 is significant, and it's a pretty nice looking game. I believe it's 30fps on PS4/XBO and 60fps on X and possibly Pro. Same approach Rage 2 took, and I applaud it.

i kinda feel the exact opposite , Blands 2 clicked with me quite a lot back in the days , but with 3 i am not really feeling it , like at all , and seeing the 3 char reveals so far , none of them is speaking to me the way Blands 1/2 cast did .

Might be just me getting sick of shlooter formula :thinking-blob:

Winkler explained that the team is already working on the DLC for Borderlands 3, and simply said that they will be “big” and “a lot of fun,” while Homan added that the DLC campaigns are “all so different” from one another.

Winkler expressed that with the DLC campaigns for Borderlands 3, the stories told there will allow the team to “get a little more weird and a little more focused.” This is especially in comparison to the main game, as Winkler stated that “Borderlands 3 is the biggest Borderlands game that has ever been made; there’s a lot crammed into it.”

Given the size of the main game, Winkler added that compared to the “huge, galaxy-spanning story arc” that will be told in Borderlands 3 proper, the DLC will give the team a chance to “focus on a couple different characters and transform them, go with a different aesthetic, go with a different vibe, and play with how you do storytelling.”
also Denuvo confirmed on the storepage now

^ absolutely cannot wait for this. Borderlands 3 is hands down one of the very best FPS of this gen if you make a total abstraction of the storytelling aspects. The gameplay is unreal, it absolutely is better than Destiny on so many aspects when it comes down to gunplay, notably in terms of recoil management and whatnot when you play on a keyboard

Bungie didn't have the talent to do that (remember their excuse ? yeah we did delete any kind of recoil for kbm users because its what felt right, meanwhile anytime I fire it up I always plug in a pad because it feels THAT much better), Gearbox NAILED it left right front and center. Can't believe its honestly as tight as ANY ID Software game
