Flight School Studio has announced Creature in the Well, a top-down, pinball-inspired, hack-and-slash dungeon crawler coming to Switch and PC via Steam this summer.


Creature in the Well is a top-down, pinball-inspired, hack-and-slash dungeon crawler. As the last remaining BOT-C unit, venture deep into a desert mountain to restore power to an ancient facility, haunted by a desperate Creature. Uncover and upgrade powerful gear in order to save the city of Mirage from a deadly sandstorm.

• Defeat the Creature: Escape the many challenges set by the Creature and get face-to-face with it in impressive confrontations.
• Dungeon-crawler: Delve deeper into the mountain as you unlock each of the eight dungeons, each filled with unique gameplay themes, unlockables, and secrets to uncover.
• Pinball with swords: Charge up energy orbs and have them bounce around and ricochet in order to reactivate dormant machinery.

Pinball inspired, hack'n slash game.

I love pinball, and I'm a sucker for these games that mix the genre with other genres.
I'll be keeping a close eye on this one.

I am at 33% completion after an hour. The start of the game is easy: it is a mix of pinball and breakout, in which you control a character and you can channel the balls to aim better and hit harder. However, it gets noticeably more difficult with timed challenges in some rooms, and moving targets, etc. You can skip rooms if they are too hard and you have grinded some of the in-game currency. The game is visually appealing and the controls are smooth.

Digging this so far. Some of the challenge rooms can be a bit difficult to get down but overall been good

88% completion after 4 hours. I don't know if I will manage to reach the end of the game:

1. the current boss is hard. I have to avoid many explosions, which deal so much damage that a few mistakes lead to a game over.
2. there is also a timed challenge which I may not be able to deal with, so 100% completion seems out of reach for now.
