Draugen is a first-person Fjord Noir mystery set in 1920s Norway, from the creators of Dreamfall Chapters.Draugen is coming to Windows PC in May — THIS May — with other platforms scheduled for later in the year.

About Draugen
From the studio that brought you Dreamfall Chapters, and the creative team behind The Longest Journey and The Secret World, comes a first-person psychological mystery set in 1920s Norway.

The year is 1923. You play Edward Charles Harden, an American traveller who's come to Norway to find his missing sister. But you're not alone: at every step of the way, Edward's accompanied by his ward, Lissie; a gregarious, independent and enigmatic young woman. Together, you must explore this scenic coastal community — nestled amongst the fjords and mountains of rural Norway — in your search for Edward's sister, and unearth the darkness that lies beneath the picturesque surface.

Draugen is in development and will be released in 2019. Please add the game to your Steam Wishlist to stay updated on the release date.

Key features
  • "I am not alone": explore 1920s coastal Norway accompanied by a living, breathing, independent companion

I had never heard of this before, and it looks really neat.

You can always get me with an unreliable narrator.

I am a huge fan of Ragnar Tornquist(writer of The Longest Journey/Dreamfall, the Secret World) so will definitely check it out.

After how Dreamfall Chapters ended on a rather low point, I'll keep my eye on this, and it does look interesting, but Red Thread needs to deliver on the promise of their early previews

Just finished it in one sitting - 3 hours according to Steam.

Overall, I enjoyed it. It's an eerie, melancholy, atmospheric, odd, mystery. I thought it was very pretty, the music is gorgeous, and the writing is very Tornquisty, though toned down due to the time period. There aren't really a lot of characters - you mostly just interact with Alice(the girl in the trailer), and hear the musings of Edward(ie: you). There is also not a lot of reading - you discover notes and such, but most of them are paraphrased for you by Edward. There are dialogue options, with some of them being exploratory(ie: talking about different things to get more info), and some of them are more like choices(ie: Edward will explain what he thinks happened, and you choose between 2-3 options). "Puzzles" consist of finding things/information which allows you to move the story forward. There is no inventory or anything like that.

From what I gathered from my time with it, it's very linear -- maybe that's just me though. I checked out everything I came across, but I also followed the trail it leads you down. There must be some exploration(maybe backtracking) that I missed, as there are currently 5 hidden achievements. One is probably from collecting drawings -- I discovered a few of these along my way but had no interest in scouring the map for more.

If you like walking simulators, you will probably like it. I'd say the one it has the most in common with is Firewatch, though the scope is smaller in Draugen.

At the end of the credits it says "You will see Edward and Alice again" or something like that. I'd certainly play a followup.
