News Forza Horizon 4 asks you to rate and review it. Is this weird?

Basically Forza Horizon 4 starts in the summer with the tutorial. Then you proceed to autumn which ends with the autumn showcase, before moving to winter which likewise ends in the winter showcase. (The showcases are really something else, by the way, not to spoil anything.) By my estimates I'm halfway through the "campaign," but there are tons of open-world boxes to check after.

After clearing the winter showcase, I got a message asking me to rate and review Forza Horizon 4 on the Xbox Store. Weird, right? Are there any other $60 retail games that ask the user to rate and review? Do you think this is because the developer knows that most people are probably playing this through Game Pass (myself included)?

(Couldn't decide on a good prefix. I think it's news because to my knowledge no other big-budget retail game has asked for a rating.)

for me personally - those "please rate us" nagging popups will always and forever be a "mobile thing" .... and they piss me off SO MUCH

but yeah - most of UWP apps ask to rate and review after a while ... including the goddamn calculator

there's a pretty good chance it does ask for that at some point .... it's not really a requirement or anything so maybe it doesn't ... but most MS games and apps definitely do

Same thing happened to me in the PC version. My immediate reaction was "wait, what, why?" The fact I bought it and continue to play it should be enough. I get that they want others to see someone is enjoying their game, but that's what the Xbox feed is for.

I bought it from the Windows Store after the initial mess that was Forza Horizon 3. It should leave me alone and default to five stars just for that.

well the UWP/Winstore itself is deep down mobile platform/appstore so no surprise it does what mobile app would do .... although looking at it , saying "deep down" is huge overstatement ... its definitely on the surface level

Probably the first game on the windows store that works perfectly fine, performance wise, and upon install for me. So This time, the store is not getting in the way hahaha. But i know for a fact that other games having to run through the store makes them run worse. SO as long as they fix that kind of stuff i don't mind it. Tho it sucks having to manage so many different platforms for all the games coming out

What happened?

I spent 60 on Quantum Break and i regret it and I hate the game for it hahaha. Such bad performance, it was terribad. It didn't help that they released the game on Steam and it ran better, but you know... i need to buy it again even when i owned the game already on the win store.

I also got performance issues with FH3, but not sure if that was due to the store. But, I am quite happy with the game pass. 3 euros for 1 month and another month free for enrolling in auto pay haha.

EDIT: BTW: I love your tag. As a fan of Douglas Adams work, I could not appreciate your tag any more.

thankfully FH4 runs great from the get-go ... so there's that

I could download those games fine, but a year or so later I tried to get Disney Infinity from the store (it was free) and the stupid thing wouldn't download. That experience, along with the countless negative things that I've read about that awful store, were enough to make me write it off. I'm not gonna gamble with it. If MS decides to sell their games on Steam or GOG I'll think about buying them, otherwise it's an automatic skip.

Glad to hear you like my tag! Hitchhiker's Guide is awesome. The other day I finally finished the 4th book, and now I only have to read the 5th and the short story Young Zaphod Plays It Safe. And watch the movie and TV series and continue listening to the radio show and see a let's play of the game (it's too hard for me, already tried playing it and gave up pretty soon). Man, this series is huge.

Too late tho... by the time I tried to go back to the game I realized that what they considered the full game I purchased for 90 euros or so was not the complete edition. So all the DLC and expansion and stuff were extra. This was super lame so I did not even bother. I am happy I can play this one just like this. Once they start to litter all the DLC it kinda loses its charm. Tho I really wanted to play the winter mountain. Good thing this game has it already in the game. It looks awesome.

I guess if you have an Xbox 1 S or X you could go for the Game Pass. It's quite nice. You get access to their newer games, but also their library of BC games. You can use the main games on PC which is great, and the BC on the xbox. So far its been worth it for FH4, and I am excited to play Ninja Gaiden Black.

Man, I wish I could read HHGTTG for the first time. Such an epic book haha. I quote a lot of those books often. They are freaking great. I hope you enjoy all the rest of the content. It's a lot and its pretty much all good.

Can confirm, while on vacation I used a vanilla laptop to play SoT from the road, win store did prompt me to rate it. This is having purchased it fully.

The good part of me doesn't exist, but it would probably want the same thing.

I'd give it a low score thanks to the issues I've had running it on my PC. Tho I liked the game I'd like to warn people that they may encounter some issues if they are unlucky. I think they should have separate portions in the reviews for performance and game.
