Welcome to Praslav, a cold Central European city that grows even colder with the coming winter. Praslav is recovering from the political turmoil that followed the end of the Cold War and the fall of the Communist regime, which held the country in its iron grip for decades.

While most people eagerly awaited the coming of democracy and capitalism, some were unable to adapt to the new socio-economic climate. Soon they found themselves on the streets with nowhere to go.

You are one of those people.



Keep an eye on your needs and other variables, which interact in realistic ways - staying warm, dry, and well-fed are not your only concerns. Poor hygiene and dirty clothes make you smellier, low temperature increases the risk of falling ill, and whatever piece of food comes in must also come out at some point.



How far are you willing to go to survive? Steal, burgle, and consort with criminals of all sorts. If necessary, take what you need by force. However, you are not an action hero. Consider your actions carefully, for the consequences are often severe, and benefits rarely outweigh the risks. Most importantly, keep your wits about you. Even if you are not willing to hurt people for personal gain, others are.



Spend the last few days of autumn wisely – gather supplies, equipment, and materials to help you survive the most difficult of seasons. Weather is unpredictable, but there is one certainty - every day is colder than the last. With a lot of preparation and a bit of luck, you might even see the spring again.



Unlike other survival games, Hobo: Tough Life leans heavily on its story content. Experience dozens of storylines inspired by real-life events and people. Solve quests, meet unique NPCs, gain their trust, make allies and enemies, join various factions, and find your place in the streets of Praslav.


Maybe there is no warm apartment waiting for you at the end of the day, but you do not have to keep sleeping on park benches either. Find a suitable place and get to work. Construct walls and roofs to shield you from the elements. Gather discarded furniture and curios to furnish your hideout and make it truly your own.


Is surviving on your own too difficult? Get the gang together. The game supports online co-op multiplayer for up to 4 players. Play alone, together with your friends, or even with total strangers. Team up, collect resources, build a shanty town, survive the winter.

yup , and reading the reviews and forums , it came a long way from the messy EA launch version from 2017, especially with recent updates ... could be really cool in v1.0

The game sounds interesting (looks like an ice pick lodge or STALKER styled game from the trailer), but I think it could use a different name, since hobo tends to be used as a derogatory term for homeless people and the game seems to be aimed less at the expense of its characters and more the system that put them there.

And got to say, as of right now, it's a surprisingly good game. Survival is tough, you have to balance quite a few things.

So far what little I've seen of the base-building mechanic, it looks very deep, but very tough to get going. Building materials are scarce and what little you find tend to end up being used for other things to keep your attributes up so you don't die.

I guess it will become much easier once certain skills are leveled up but at the start the last thing you need to worry about is building anything. Sure you can plop down stuff you find while scavanging (tires, plastic crates, etc), but not freezing to death is priority #1 at the beginning.
Jesus, don't become addicted to anything in this game. I didn't pay attention during a friendly binge with another hobo and became an alcoholic. Took me 2 medkits, 4 breads and 45 minutes worth of fuel in my fire barrel to get rid of it. And the only reason I managed to survive it is because I unlocked the health/illness/morale regen bonuses for my shelter. Otherwise I would have been forced to chug several beers every day and spend extra on detox stuff so I could enter places that don't allow drunk hobos. Suffering withdrawals during winter nights is not fun. Without bedding it was too cold, with bedding I woke up too early, way before I had to put new junk on the fire.

Finally suffering through the withdrawals was definitely worth it. Sure taught me to keep an eye on my alcohol intake.

Damn this game has depth.

Based on that description I really hope this doesn't try to trivialize its subject matter. Like the not finding a lot of material and needing to use it for other things instead of housing sounds incredibly true to life and horrifying, but I fear gamification will render kinda jokey.
Maybe I'm wrong it will actually shine something of a light on the matter

hard to say for me atm as i havent tried yet ....but from what i read lot of the stories in it is inspired by stories real hobos mostly from Prague and Bratislava (you know the cities the game's city Praslav is named after) + Brno (where devs are from).

But yeah the gameigication of the experience is tough thing to do , especially for such subject matter but reading the above impressions about alcoholism in the game .... they definitely at least try and it seems quite complex.
