Kill la Kill: IF will launch for PlayStation 4, Switch, and PC via Steam on July 26 in North America and Europe, publisher Arc System Works announced.

The critically acclaimed 2013 anime title that shook the streets of Honnou City, 'KILL la KILL' finally makes a comeback as an action fighting game! Play as Satsuki Kiryuin, Ryuko Matoi, and more, and indulge in the alternate story that will draw you deeper into the vivid and action filled world of 'KILL la KILL'.

KILL la KILL
"KILL la KILL" is an original television animation made by Studio TRIGGER, under the talented hands of the creator of "Gurren Lagann", Hiroyuki Imaishi, and the scenario writer, Kazuki Nakashima.

In pursuit of the truth behind her father's death - "the wielder of the Scissor Blade", Ryuko Matoi enrolls into the Honnouji Academy.
In Honnouji Academy, there exists a special uniform, the "Goku Uniform", said to bestow special powers upon those who wear it. And the Student President, Satsuki Kiryuin, has absolute authority over the entire Academy with its powers.
Satsuki, who claims to know of "the wielder of the Scissor Blade".
Ryuko presses on to seek information from her, and this is when fate encounters.
The saga that wreaked havoc onto the Academy, is now spreading to engulf everything!

Dominate your opponents with deep mind games, and devastate them with stunning animations.
This is KILL la KILL battle action!

STORY
You control Satsuki Kiryuin as the main protagonist of this game, and proceed along with the story while battling against various characters. All scenarios are completely new and fully supervised under the watchful eyes of the original scenario-writer, Kazuki Nakashima. You will be experiencing the story unfold from the perspective of Satsuki Kiryuin, the rival of the original series' protagonist Ryuko.

THREE BASIC BATTLE ACTIONS
Basic actions include "Normal Attack", "Guard" and "Break Attack". These actions operate against one another much like in a game of Rock, Paper and Scissors.

Normal Attacks
A fast attack with little openings. There are "Close Ranged Attack" and "Long Ranged Attack". Press either of the attack buttons repeatedly for auto combo!

Guard
Blocks against all normal attacks and takes no damage. However, players are unable to guard against Break Attacks.

Break Attack
A slow, wide-range heavy attack. Able to penetrate past your opponent's defenses, but leaves you wide open.

BLOODY VALOR
Faithfully reproduced from the original anime series, "Battle and engage in heated debate with your opponent" in the KILL la KILL way!
Activate the "Bloody Valor" when you're not being attacked, and hit the opponent with the burst to start the debate!
The attacker and the defender will choose from 3 types of phrases; "Taunt (rock)," "Provoke (scissors)," and "Mock (paper)."
The phrases are set up like an RPS game. The attacker wins if they have the stronger hand or is even. If the attacker has the weaker hand, the defender wins.

The trailer showcases plenty of gameplay focusing on providing an extensive overview of the features included, which are rather rich for a game of this kind. The video also reveals two DLC characters (or three, depending on what you intend with “character”). We’ll get Mako Mankanshoku and “Ultimate Double Naked DTR,” which is a pair of combined Dotonbori Robo piloted by Aikuro Mikisugi and Tsumugu Kinagase.

Under the watchful eye of Studio Trigger, Arc System Works is recreating the feel of the original series with their trademark technology. The anime—created by the undisputed talent of Hiroyuki Imaishi, and the scenario writer, Kazuki Nakashima—will be faithfully reproduced, bringing fans their favorite scenes revived with stunning visuals and cinematics—as well as a whole new story in a brand new ‘IF’ scenario!

As well as producing the world-class visuals Arc System Works is renowned for, Kill la Kill: IF will deliver astounding battle in 3D arenas. Perform devastating combos with your favourite characters to deliver the pain to opponents who stand in their way.

Maneuver around the stunning 3D battlefields and… PULVERIZE all who stand in your way! yup , lets hope ArcSys' involvment is big enough :)

EDIT: found nome interview about ArcSys and Trigger involvement

For fans worried about the game’s quality because of concerns raised over APLUS’ Little Witch Academia: Chamber of Time, Mizota said that there’s a lot different with this project, especially when it comes to working directly with Arc System Works as a publisher.
Mizota, who directed of Little Witch Academia: Chamber of Time, said Bandai Namco’s priority with the Little Witch Academia game was promoting and selling the game with certain requested features.

“In the case of Bandai Namco, for better or for worse and I don’t mean this in any negative way, but even if the game’s quality and gameplay design wasn’t really that high, Bandai Namco wouldn’t say much,” Mizota said. “I cannot say the same of Arc System Works. As soon as they didn’t like a mechanic or a system – in fact, I have a story. Our company is located in Osaka, but when [the game] wasn’t fun on the first build, they brought a part of my team to Yokohama where Arc’s office is and we were locked into a room for three months with Team Red, the Guilty Gear team, to learn how to better create these forms of expression [in a 3D space] and just game design.
“We as Trigger have made a lot of requests to APLUS, especially with the models. I think what Sushio-san has created is being created as a 3D model, and it almost feels very anime in nature,” Wakabayashi said. “I think fans, once they pick up the controller and move these characters around, it is going to feel like are moving the characters in this anime space. That’s something that I’m really looking forward to.”

Some systems of the game pull from unique elements of Kill la Kill, like one-liners being used as a sort of taunting mechanic or system. Toshimichi Mori, a producer and director at Arc System Works, said, above all, Arc System Works games have to feel good and be intuitive. Without going into the mechanical details, he said the Kill la Kill game should play well and be fun at that.
Rounding out the interview was Sushio, an animator at Trigger and Kill la Kill’s character designer. He agreed and emphasized on the team’s goal of Kill la Kill the Game: If feeling like the anime.
