What really gets me is the quality of the shading model for the terrain. I don't think I've ever seen anything as detailed and looking as right at this scale before, and this includes SC. The weather and simulation model for the clouds makes their rendering that much more convincing as well, in a way that is difficult to articulate.

I'm mighty impressed so far.

AFAIK their cloud rendering is based on true sky, but the people at Asobo clearly know their way around light.

These are some seriously amazing clouds, made even more amazing by the fact that they aren't based on any photograph. It's just climate data plugged into a procedural model, which makes those results all the more stunning.
