In Nelke & the Legendary Alchemists: Ateliers of the New World players assume the role of young noblewoman, Nelke von Lestamm; tasked with building up the quaint village of Westwald into a prosperous city. For her to develop buildings and extend the size of Westwald, she will need to earn money from the businesses she runs or sell synthesized items for cash.

Exploring the areas outside of Westwald with alchemists allows Nelke to collect raw materials perfect for synthesis. Though she is inexperienced in the art of alchemy, she’ll have to entrust one of the many alchemists in town to synthesize the resources into sellable goods. Each alchemist has their own specialties which allow them to offer improved item creation – players will have to carefully decide what would be the most effective alchemist for which items.

A Weekly Report is prepared at the end of each week which shows the current town population, the amount of income made, number of properties, and the number of synthesized items. Using this report, players can decide how they will spend their time in Westwald, perhaps they will tackle quests and town development during the weekday and develop relationships with residents on the weekend. As Nelke spends time with people in Westwald she’ll deepen her bonds with them leading to not only exciting events between characters, but new town facilities and alchemist skills which aid in both synthesis and battle!

This title aims to combine the “slice-of-life” atmosphere of living in a town and collaborating with various characters and the exaltation that comes from successfully governing a town and expanding your world.​

This title is designed to represent a new milestone in the evolution of the “Atelier” series, marking their 20th anniversary, and its theme is: Town-management Simulation x RPG.​

We aim to provide our fans with an entirely new "Atelier" experience, while also inviting back many popular characters of past titles.​

especially if they plan to bring some another set of remasters like recent Arland trilogy later on (Dusk trilogy could probably be the fan-favoutite pick)

no, it wouldn't be, Mana Khemia is the best and we never are getting that, because life is not fair.
out of modern Atelier, Arland trilogy is most popular, and that's why it was ported left and right and is getting the fourth game.

However, Arland is a good place to start. You can then go forward or backward from there.

Huh, I was thinking of starting with Sophie actually... Is that not a good one to start with?

sauce yes, Sophie is good one to start as it is a start of a trilogy, but suggestion to start with Arland, meaning Atelier Rorona is better.

Sophie is fine, as is Firis and Lydie & Suelle. They can be a bit long and more experimental in some aspects. You’ll see them try new things in each entry, some better than others.

Lydie & Suelle does have the best 3D combat system in the series, but it’s also the most bloated game in the series due to how many characters are supporting it and just how many loose ends it ties up.

Rorona is a better entry to the series in my opinion, but if you don’t like time limits you may want to stick with the Mysterious trilogy (Sophie, Firis, Lydie & Suelle).

Rorona and the Arland trilogy introduced a lot of newer concepts since the shift to 3D and you can see a gradual improvement in all aspects as you run through the trilogies. Rorona is all more simple and will let you wrap your head around the concept of synthesis, item quality, and the balance of exploration, combat, and creation.

Also the 4th Arland game is out in May.
