During the NieR 10th Anniversary concert, Square Enix has announced a NieR: Replicant remaster set to release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam. The official title of the remaster looks to be 'NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139...' and was called a 'version upgrade'. While it has not officially been announced for the West yet, it's likely only a matter of time before we get the inevitable confirmation.
For what it's worth, the number in the title is √(3/2).
In 2010, the original Nier launched in two forms in Japan - NieR: Gestalt on Xbox 360 and NieR: Replicant on PS3. The main difference between the two was that the 360 version had an older main character - and the international release for both platforms was entirely based on this version. The remaster looks to be of NieR: Replicant, meaning it features the younger protagonist, meaning this remaster is a version of the game that western audiences haven't yet experienced. The core of the game is the same, however.
After its original release, a PlayStation Vita version of NieR: that combined both versions of the game into a definitive edition was under development, but was ultimately canceled. If this remaster will pick up this concept or simply remaster Replicant only specifically remains unclear.
Square Enix's Yosuke Saito, the producer of the NieR series, responded "I don't even know" when asked if the remaster will have a different ending. Additionally, composer Keiichi Okabe has re-recorded all its songs as well as added new songs for the project.
The game's Japanese voices will be re-recorded, and the voice cast is as follows (note 'Nier' here refers to the 'brother' version of Nier, the character):
