Paradise Island, a world outside reality. There’s been a murder that only "investigation freak" Lady Love Dies can solve. Gather evidence and interrogate suspects in this open world adventure. You can accuse anyone, but you’ll have to prove your case in trial to convict. It’s up to you to decide

An island outside of reality. A rogue human civilization hoping to resurrect dead alien gods. A murder behind locked doors.

Paradise is an island that regenerates every few millennia. The psychic power that the alien worshipers within release into the universe is meant to feed and eventually resurrect their fallen deities. But this force also attracts undesired interest from demons, who eventually corrupt each island — until a new alternate reality is birthed by the Council.

The system isn’t perfect, but it will be one day — on Perfect 25, the next island-to-be. But on the eve of rebirth, the Council is murdered and Paradise is killed.

In the aftermath, the “investigation freak” Lady Love Dies is summoned from exile to find the culprit. This is the crime to end all crimes.

What are the facts? What are the truths? Are they the same?

You are tasked with finding the killer and building an airtight case against them. Take your case to trial and argue your interpretation of the evidence. Only when someone is successfully convicted can the crime be considered solved and Paradise be saved.

The “truth” is that there are many possible killers, and many ways to build a case. Even if you make a convincing case for prosecution and get someone convicted, is the mystery really solved?

Paradise is an island set in an alternate future history filled with cryptic lore and even more mysteries. Examine bizarre relics to learn more about this world’s surreal history.

You choose who to accuse, and build a case to support conviction. Everyone on Paradise has a secret to hide and something to gain. Old friends become new suspects, forcing you to choose between the evidence, the greater good and your own beliefs. There are many possible murderers, but who you pick will define your own personal truth.

Let your personal computer and electronic assistant Starlight be your guide through another dance of an investigation. Collect evidence, record testimony and interpret the facts to form your own truth.

Solve hieroglyph puzzles on ancient nightmare computers to discover new areas of the island, find concealed evidence and reveal terrifying secrets.

So far, so good. I'm really enjoying it. Lots of style and character. I'm hoping it finds an audience and does well. It deserves to, you can tell the team put a ton of work into the game.

Save often! There is [UWSL][UWSL][UWSL]No [/UWSL][/UWSL][/UWSL][UWSL][UWSL][UWSL]Auto Save[/UWSL][/UWSL][/UWSL] system, like at all, so you have to manually save at Public Phones which thankfully are dotted all over the place. They can also be unlocked to use as Fast Travel points if you want. I just unlock one or two per-zone so far [UWSL][UWSL][UWSL]but haven't used them yet. They are frequent enough that saving before speaking to someone or interacting with something in the environment isn't really a problem.[/UWSL][/UWSL][/UWSL]

I've got 4.5 hours just roaming around exploring the areas and picking up items, clues, collectables and doing some simple puzzles. I haven't interviewed anyone regarding the main investigation yet but i have a good idea of the background and "lore" of the Island and setting the game is set in.
There's definite SMT/Danganronpa influences but there's no time limits or Time Management i have found and i don't think there'll be interactive interrogations like DR but maybe that changes later on. Probably not, don't go expecting DR's mini games i think this game will play that aspect a lot more straightforward than DR.

It controls nicely enough, traversing around the Island and exploring is fun with some items requiring a bit of thought on how to get to them. Interaction is clearly marked but barely enything is explained so save before interacting with something you're suspicious of just in case you don't want to spend the Blood Crystals at that time. The world is 3D but items and NPCs are 2D shapes with NPCs having Hi-res art. The conversation system is the usual "Panel with Choices" but the characters are large with expression changes instead of just a portrait. It works well enough and will be familiar to most of us.

If the game gets as a large an audience as it deserves i do expect to see some disgruntled people commenting on the thoughts and ideals presented by one of the recurring NPCs. You've probably already seen a few of the images. Heh.

I'd say I'm hooked and can't wait to dive back in.

edit: Just to say when i mention SMT i mean parts of the subject matter and the game's styling not that the game is an RPG with demon melding and stuff!

Looks like it's doing better than expected. Cool, they deserve it!

I need to try to dig through the assets as there's a couple of Crimson Acid images i want to print out.
I'd love a big print of this painting for a start!

So it's a 3D world world, first person camera, and 2D characters?

Yes, Open world, Free roam so it's not grid based movement, First person camera and the collectable items and NPCs are 2D on a 3D plane.
It sounds odd but the style suits the game and the aesthetic they are going for.

Panda Pedinte Have you managed to get a screengrab of the different Loading screens that look like album covers?
I had taken grabs of them all but they just appear solid black when you look at the screenshot.
I'll try a different app to Steam just in case there's something squiffy going on.

I've got a couple of locations to visit and almost all of the interviews to conduct but i've started going around and "Hanging Out" with people rather than Interview them Ha.

I'll try to take a screenshot from the loading screens

Edit: seems like the screenshot just register after the game finishes the loading process

I'm very interested in the game, I still don't understand how the final trial works.
From what I understand you can trigger it at any moment you think you solved the case, but what happens with a wrong answer? A bad ending and you can start replaying and getting more clues etc until you get the right result?

Justice says in the intro come back here to start the trial at any time, so when the conversation ended i spoke to them again and they asked if i wanted to start the trial. So yes, it looks like you can start the trial at any point but if you don't have the evidence to back up your claim then i expect you get a default ending. I haven't looked or read into it because i'm avoiding spoilers but i think there are a couple of endings you can get.

So get ending then reload if it's not the one you wanted. I think you can wander the island after the trial and finish collectables but you can't change the outcome at that point.

I think I have found all the clues needed to finish the game in a satisfying way, I just need to do the trials now.

Spoilers
From what I gathered almost everyone was involved in the deaths, the exceptions being Doom Jazz, Henry and One Last Kiss. Crimson Acid and the Day Breaks may have some indirect connections and I'm curious how it will play in the trials.

I finished it! What a ride.

I'll try to write down my thoughts about the whole game later but in short I liked it a lot.

I really need to stop exploring the Island and start interviewing people properly. I have pretty much every environmental clue, have 3 people at "Probe!" which i assume means i don't need to hangout with them more, and feel it's almost time for me to start getting my thoughts straight about what went on.

Usually Probe means they have something important to tell you, when you max out the relationship it will appear as maxed out.

Yeah, it shocked me how nice the movement is. So much so that i have only used Fast Travel once. I'm quite happy to run and jump and dash around the island listening to the tunes and looking out for any Blood Crystals or Dead Nebula i've missed.

Spiral Staircases in the apartment blocks can go to hell though, ugh, makes me feel queasy.

Exploring the island felt so natural and I only started using the fast travel once I had all the evidence collected, as well the collectibles and found all the locations Shinji was.

It's pretty cool how the game kind shows to you if something is pink or gold it's important.
