Red Dead Redemption 2

Red Dead Redemption 2, the critically acclaimed open world epic from Rockstar Games and the highest rated game of the console generation, now enhanced for PC with new Story Mode content, visual upgrades and more.

America, 1899. The end of the wild west era has begun as lawmen hunt down the last remaining outlaw gangs. Those who will not surrender or succumb are killed. After a robbery goes badly wrong in the western town of Blackwater, Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang are forced to flee. With federal agents and the best bounty hunters in the nation massing on their heels, the gang must rob, steal and fight their way across the rugged heartland of America in order to survive. As deepening internal divisions threaten to tear the gang apart, Arthur must make a choice between his own ideals and loyalty to the gang who raised him.

With all new graphical and technical enhancements for deeper immersion, Red Dead Redemption 2 for PC takes full advantage of the power of the PC to bring every corner of this massive, rich and detailed world to life including increased draw distances; higher quality global illumination and ambient occlusion for improved day and night lighting; improved reflections and deeper, higher resolution shadows at all distances; tessellated tree textures and improved grass and fur textures for added realism in every plant and animal.

And preorders are rockstar launcher exclusive up to oct 22, tons of free exclusive bonuses and upgrades to more expensive editions on top.

I guess NOBODY will buy this on EGS, right? Seeing as its defenders just call it another launcher. Now it's on ANOTHER launcher, with more stuff and 0% R* fee!

They'll all just get it there and not even mention EGS in anything but the fineprint, right? They won't dare doing an 180 turn about that, right? Maybe they'll just shill and lie about how EGS was the start of the "multi launcher/store" future that's being cemented with such moves that help publishers/devs/gamers (lol).

I'll be buying it on Rockstar Launcher or Steam so I'm good. I could wait the extra month absolutely no problem but is it still the case where for games like GTA V on Steam you now need Rockstar Launcher installed to launch ? I know that was the case when the launcher first came out but not sure if that's still the case.

I'm sure we'll see some people pimping EGS for it still, it's just gonna show (again) how ignorant and hypocritical they are.

So I guess many will just focus on putting Steam down instead.

I didn't expect Rockstar to go the Ubisoft way though, hopefully it's just gonna be for their own games (at least for a long long time) like Blizzard's used to be.

wow they are putting it on steam. the absolute madmen

also lol anybody buying from egs and not waiting a month
The way that GTAV sold, I can see some lunatics triple-dipping between console and two PC versions.

That one-month lead time is laughable. I wonder what EGS had to pay for that.

We will see the difference in sales IMMEDIATELY.

but yeah - i really hope it happens ... even if they just plop the entire thing 1:1 into RDR2 (as in: with absolutely no updates to textures, geometry etc.)
All the assets are already in RDR2. Just need to extract the VA from RDR1.

I'll take a bare-minimum, and leave the work of other modders to make a full game out of it.

Look at us. You can tell we're PC gamers because we don't even have the game yet and are already thinking about mod potential, LMAO!

I'll get it on STEAM next year or later when it has a decent sale.

Played through it at launch on my One X, never had the desire to replay it.
I'm still mad that I missed some missable content as the game progresses through the chapters.

Because of that, I never bothered to go "achievement hunting" to 100% the game, because 100% would be impossible without a clean save.

I stopped paying attention to certain things and exploring and experimenting. So I still have a lot to do.

Anyway, I didn't enjoy the first RDR at all so I won't buy this sequel. Played it a few hours on PS4 and the gameplay is still crap imo.
I played RDR1 on PS3 and didnt like it. I didnt understand what all the fuss was about. And the reviews for RDR2 and its weird focus on "realism" didnt exactly sell me on that, either. Maybe it will be better with mouse+keyboard controls (as Rockstar games are horrible with a controller), so I might pick this up on Steam sometime in the future when it's on sale, we'll see.
That said, one month exclusivity is better than 12 or 6, but its still shite. I am sick of these companies treating people using Steam and wanting their games there like second class.

Pretty excited to play this, but unless there's one amazing discount ahead of release for the Rockstar Launcher version I'll just wait the extra month. Really don't want to give anyone extra ammo to point to EGS and go, "See! It's working!" Even if hardly anyone actually buys it there.

Same here, I found it incredibly boring and repetitive and the combat was really bad.

Rockstar can make great and beautiful open words that really feel alive. But I'm not a fan of their game design; I didn't finish any of their games except Max Payne 3 (which was incredible imo)

i'm definitely waiting for steam ... i just can't be bothered with 50 different launchers and remembering which game is where ... that's literally what it comes down to for me
How many titles do you have installed at one time?
Edit: as for this, minimum shock about EGS. I wonder what the ask was for 12 or 6 month exclusivity, because one month must have been big. Do Zelnick or the Hausers keep tight lipped about things like this?

Might look into it down the line. Played a bit of the first game years ago and RDR on my brothers ps3 at the time, but the missions and in between weren't all that reactive or fun.

To be honest that's why I might go for the Rockstar Launcher version as you'll need that anyway for the Steam version I'm betting, like UPlay.

I don't buy R* games, so this doesn't affect me... But I guess it's good that it's only delayed by one month? Wonder how much that cost Timmy...

Steam is totally unexpected, especially that early. Good for them.

I'm okay at not getting it at launch though, everything is still fresh in my memory. Will get it on its first discount. Or probably when online launches.

I got bored of RDR1 when I played it back then, probably wouldn't enjoy 2 but might get it just for the pretty graphics (if it runs well on my computer)

I suppose at the end of the day it’s a good thing the games gets ported at last, but I fear I will do a GTAV with it: too much waiting and there goes my will to play.
it doesn’t help that I finally played RDR just before the release of the second one and was stunned by the lack of things to do in it.

Personally, I don't mind getting it on the Rockstar thing. The Problem is DOOM is already coming out at the end of November and Outer Wrolds at the end of October. So if it overlaps with RDR2 I just might wait till after Christmas for RDR2, which would make me buy it on Steam.
The good thing is, I have a choice now and that's all I'm asking for.

EDIT:
Was just thinking about it. What are the chances the Steam version will need the Rockstar Launcher in the background?

Games are no longer about selling a piece of enjoyable entertainment to customers. These days the game is the worm and the hook is the money sucking wallet draining app they shoe horn onto your PC. At this point I don't think it is even a question as to whether we will need rockstars band wagon hopping store. Yes you will need their shitty store, just like you needed ubisofts shitty store and blizzards shitty store.

As for Epic erm LOLZ at 1 month not exclusive but not on steam deal. Wow major move there Timmy, I can't imagine people that have been waiting over a year for this game waiting a whole MONTH to get it on a superior store/platform.

My hope is that some talented modders band together and, for lack of a better expression, Far Cry 2-ify RDR2's mission design. RDR2 is by no means a bad game, but its story mission design is Battlefield 3-esque in its railroading and tendency to punish players for demonstrating creative thinking.
