Chernobyl Exclusion Zone has changed dramatically after the second massive explosion in year 2006. Violent mutants, deadly anomalies, warring factions have made the Zone a very tough place to survive. The main inspiration for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is the original trilogy (Shadow of Chernobyl, Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat) and its main feature will be its unique atmosphere. The developers aim to make a really atmospheric game, similar to what the original STALKER was when it came out. GSC GameWorld is also working on making modding tools so that modders can start creating new content when the game comes out. Last but not least, GSC GameWorld has no plans for adding VR support in STALKER 2.

The debut trailer of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is out, and we are happy to share this moment with our players and fans all around the world. We sincerely hope you were both delighted and surprised during the Xbox Game Showcase, as that was the ultimate goal that we aimed for.

From the very beginning of the development, we were working hard to deliver the game both our fans and newcomers could enjoy. With our first video, we wanted to give you the taste of the atmosphere you will experience and the overview of the world you will travel through.

The S.T.A.L.K.E.R. franchise was always about the Zone. We see it as a standalone — and hugely important — character of the series. In the world we created, the nuclear disaster at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in 1986 wasn’t the only one to occur. The second explosion hit the reactor in 2006, creating The Zone as we know it. It’s a dangerous place, filled with mutated creatures, deadly radiation, and a strange, anomalous energy.

However, it’s not just an isolated place that’s dangerous by itself, but rather a threat to all of mankind. Still, there is no stopping for the explorers.

Bounty hunters delve deep into the Zone, driven by its treasures and mysteries. Some of them are running from their past, others are blinded by money, and some are obsessed with finding the truth behind all the mysteries. No matter what makes their hearts pump, these people are known as S.T.A.L.K.E.R.s.

You are one of them.

With S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, we are finally creating the thing we’ve wanted to make since the very beginning. For the first time in the series, the Zone will be yours to explore as a post-apocalyptic open-world — one of the biggest ones to date.

Get your first in-engine look at the first-person sequel S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 and its Zone through the eyes of its main protagonist, Skif.
As developer GSC Game World puts it, this teaser represents "how the game actually feels: fast-paced change of scenery, ominous landscapes and the ever-present feeling of an inevitable danger accompanied by a barely-distinguishable guitar soundtrack."

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is due for release at some point in 2021 on Xbox Series X|S (day one on Xbox Game Pass) and PC.

Very nice target work, Unreal Engine looking good.

So weird that this popped up now, as I just reinstalled Stalker like 2 days ago, and have been looking through mods that I have missed.

By far the most viewed video I uploaded to youtube is a farewell vid to GSC, uploaded a day after they announced the studio closure.


I still can't quite believe STALKER 2 is actually coming and for real it seems.

Though I still wonder who is actually making it, considering the original team left GSC to found 4A and Vostok Games.
