New week, new thread! What are you playing?

Helldivers 2 week for me. GET SOMMMMMME! GET SOMMMMMMMEEE!!!

Yep this is fun.

I also returned to Fights in Tight Spaces. Trying to use a deck from the base game to complete the DLC campaign. Really good challenge.

Currently playing Horizon Frozen Wilds. I had finished the main campaign two years ago and got about halfway through the DLC before I decided I wanted to play something else, but after hearing about the good Forbidden West port I decided to pick it back up again,.

I started The Forgotten City.
The budget, team size and inexperience definitely shows but I'm liking it so far.
Some of the main character writing is a bit too... flippant, I guess. But since they didn't voice the main character, it's not too bad.

I played more hours than I would admit of LUST GODDESS. A porn gacha.
Well, to the surprise of no one... it's a porn gacha.

And unfortunately, in another big 'lol, obviously' energy, it's absolutely shameless in its desire to rip people off. There is a 500$ gacha. Let that sink in.
And the meat of the game is relatively mediocre, but not without appeal. But as it's a Gacha McGacha, the balance is completely out of whack.
Did I mention that there is no story and that it's fake pvp league based, to make you want to purchase (and bankrupt) your way to victory ?

Unfortunate, the porn scenes are nice, if rare and short.

But I also played some hours of YELLOW TAXI GOES VROOM, and it's a relative blast. Another indie sensation. A N64esque platformer with a model car and no jump button. With the music and the global vibe of the game, you would be excused to think you just smoke a joint.
Not totally sold on it because the trickier moves are not me-friendly and I expect to hit some walls of die & retry hell.
But yup. It's yet ANOTHER. INDIE. HIT.

(it's bliss on Deck OLED when it hits 90 fps)

Playing Horizon Forbidden West. Just about finished the second area, and moving further West. Overall, I'm having fun and the plot and setting continue to be a highlight. They also greatly improved the side quests, which was my biggest concern with the first game. This is a pretty good RPG series now. Not perfect, definitively things you could improve, but not bad by any stretch.

Also making headways with Judgment, the spin-off title in the Yakuza series. It's great t0 be back in Kamurocho and I love how much focus this game puts on the city and its characters. There's tons of "friends" you can discover, every day people who work in the city whom you can help with their issues and gain their friendship. This in turn increases your "reputation" and unlocks new side cases (this game's term for "substories") It's a pretty addicting loop, as finding and helping friends is pretty fun in and of itself, and then you get to unlock more substories as a reward.

I've started playing ASTLIBRA Gaiden: The Cave of Phantom Mist. This is the Astlibra DLC / spinoff. The store page calls it a roguelike, but the gameplay loop isn't really that roguelike at all beyond the fact that it has randomly generated dungeon floors. I'd liken it more to Diablo (the first one) in this regard.

The combat and moment-to-moment gameplay is still fantastic, and I think it's well worth playing for anyone who enjoyed that in the main game. I'm having a great time with it.

Also, you get some ridiculous battery life out of the Steam Deck OLED with it. Literally 9 hours. And it runs perfectly of course.

I finished Dragon's Dogma 2. Super weird game that is so flawed I should have hated it, but it compelled me to play 77 hours.

I've moved on to Unicorn Overlord and this game rules. It is the Ogre Battle successor I've already wanted with a bit of Fire Emblem on the side and a dash of Final Fantasy 12. I'm playing on the hardest difficulty and it feels challenging. I've lost several maps and have to be more tactical than just stomping everything with overpowered units. I don't know how I'll ultimately feel about it, but right now it's hitting all the right dopamine rewards in my brain.

I finished up Horizon Forbidden West (which I liked) and its expansion, Burning Shores (which I didnt like). Played a bit of Zero Dawn again for comparison and to revisit some of its areas

Otherwise, Cyberpunk and Baldurs Gate 3 are back on the menu. Oh and also played some RollerCoaster Tycoon (Classic); always a fun time :)

First time doing bug missions in Helldivers 2 due to the new major order today. Wow, fighting bugs are so much different from automations which requires a totally different set of strategy. It feels really great to rain bullets on them.

Started Red Dead Redemption 1 on PS4.
It has all the signs of being an aged game (cinematics and animations are of 2010s age), but somehow feels very "current age" in other ways (dynamic events, fantastic atmosphere, towns feeling lived-in)
