New week, new thread! What are you playing?

Continuing Reverse Collapse. 104 hours in. I probably have reached the final stretch of the game. There was a 2-hour story sequence before entering the chapter which explained the main twist and made you emotionally ready for the upcoming ending. Although there are story moments which are not explained in full, the story is still absolute cinema. Gameplay-wise, the enemy is going all-out and this stage where I am at is hard as nuts. Going to chip it away bit-by-bit in the next few days.

Let's see if I can finish the main story by the end of this week.

I played through the prologue of Expedition 33

nice spot to start it in for getting invested in the world before things really kick off

some annoyances:

the lack of area maps: I knew about this going in but I always think games without maps would be better if they had them this isn't something that will ever stop bothering me and would perhaps be a dealbreaker for a game I was less interested in

the game is too quiet: this one I suspect i'll get used to and I already have a bit but I still really wish I could pump the volume up more especially since the music is such a big part of why i'm interested in the game to begin with

something about the way the characters movement is animated when walking around was giving me some mild motion sickness but it only took like 10 minutes for me to get used to it enough for that to go away


the biggest question remains how much i'll vibe with the combat system, there hasn't been enough fighting yet for me to really say how that'll turn out one way or another

After finishing Kingdom Hearts 3 last week I had a sudden urge to play Nioh 2, so I booted it up and played Armored Core 6 instead

Since I was still really early in Nioh 2 I was thinking that if I'm already in the mood to play something challending it would be better to play something I've played more recently and have more time in before I forget everything and have to relearn controls and such.

Have gotten 2 endings in AC6 since and I'm off to the true ending route. The mission structure just makes it super breezy to play.

I've also continued on with The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles and finished the second case. These are pretty chunky, but entertaining. Though Kazuma's death and it being due to an accident/misunderstanding felt kind of disappointing.

Continued playing Balatro, got really close to complete a run.
Started Birth By Sleep, finished Terra story (2 to go) and I decided against 100% the game, the idea of doing everything 3 times (all minigames, the arena and farming all commands) feels so tedious that once I'm done with the the story I'll move on.

I just completed Touhou: Artificial Dreams in Arcadia.


Well, to be more precise, I got endings B and A. There's apparently also a C, but I don't think I'll go for that.
Not because I didn't like the game -- in fact I loved it -- but it needs an optional dungeon and superboss that is apparently quite ludicrous, and that's just usually not something I enjoy spending time on anymore.

Anyway, the game itself is pretty fantastic. What really surprised me is how well-designed the individual aspects are, and how well they fit together. There are quite a lot of systems in the game, and with small indie games like this that can often lead to some feeling half-baked or unnecessary, but that's not the case here. The normal difficulty is also really well-balanced, and mostly so throughout the game, which is difficult to accomplish in a very stat- and option-heavy DRPG such as this.

I'd recommend it to everyone who like traditional dungeon crawlers or Touhou. If you like both then what are you waiting for

Finished Crime Scene Cleaner main mode and all the new nightmare map variations as well. Good one of those.

Not sure what to play next. Should probably look at my blitz games a bit.

In fact, now that I'm home to check more carefully, I think I'm going to start Discolored. It appears to be super short so I'm probably jumping into Cavern of Dreams right after that.
I've also started ROOMS: The Toymaker's Mansion but it's not a "main game" type of game for me.

Wow, I just tried RE4 on Quest for the first time, bought it on the sale. I'm just at the start but it seems so polished and well done. I mean, I know the game itself well from Wii etc., and I've played loads of ganes and mods in VR and read about it/seen videos so more or less knew what to expect but still. It feels so good.

Playing Shadow Gambit - Only unlocked 3/7 crew so far. The plant doctor, the chef and sniper. My go to strat atm is to turtle using the magical bush. Must be a weird feeling for enemies to slowly see all their compatriots disappearing and a strange, not at all suspicious, bush slowly moving around the area.

Finished the stage mentioned in the OP. It turns out not too bad, difficulty-wise. Now, this next stages has final battle vibe... Finally, end of the line.

I am someone who can easily get burnt out by games, but even after 110 hours, I don't have that feeling at all. What a game.

Started Signalis. Game is spooky as heck, especially when playing in the dark. Not a super fan of the level design as it seems very compartmentalized compared to Resident Evil, but the handful of puzzles I've done so far seem good.

Started and finished Discolored. It's a bit eh. Even though short, I still occasionally feel like it's wasting my time with just going from point A to B and back and then back again bunch of times.

Yep, I almost always enjoy these chill busywork games, even with a grimmer premise like this. Even though there isn't a ton of story, it's enough to make me come back more consistently too.
The nightmare mode is neat too, interesting remixes of the maps and such.

Bunch of multi-player: Battlefield 6 beta and 2042. Mario Kart World.

Didn't do much of BF6, but it was fun. Motivated me to install 2042.

64 vs 64 Conquest reminds me of Team Fortress 2 in that you can do whatever you want and it doesn't matter that much. There's enough competent people on either team with 128 players, things will get done whether you do anything worthwhile or not. So, I sniped. Went head-hunting. Some times I would just get on the drone and spot enemies for my team. It's fine! I played medic in the BF6 beta, so I'm allowed to be a worthless sniper for a bit in 2042. That's how it works. That's the price on the label.

MKW is only good in Time Trial or a medium population Twitch streamer's private lobby. If it weren't for those saving graces, I would be grossly disappointed in this game. The little pockets of it I enjoy, I really enjoy. 24 players is too many, so it makes the Discord community server useless for me. Most of the rooms fill up and I don't like how chaotic 24 humans is. Twitch lobbies are a bit of extra work, but worth the effort.

Been watching more movies than playing games. At least single-player. Can't focus on those lately.

Continuing with Star Wars Jedi Survivor. Still having fun with it, even if I wish performance was a bit better. Reached the point in the story where you now met all of your former companions, and I really like where the story is going with this one. About how despite Cals desire to fight, sometimes you need to accept that you can't just beat all problems with lightsabers and violence alone.

Also making my way through Lunar. I suspect I am over the half-way point, and probably closing in on the finale, but perhaps the game opens up a lot in the second half, let's see.

Also wanted to play some survival horror games, so started up Layers of Fear 2 by Bloober.

I did the most logical thing after completing a game - re-starting Reverse Collapse on a higher difficulty.

Legit haven't done this since Fights in Tight Spaces, and that game is a roguelike whereas this one is a 80 hour+ game.

Getting towards the end of Shadow Gambit, unlocked all the companions and working on doing 4 captain's tales. Done 2 so far.

Also started Haven.

More old games while waiting for the event of the year
Some time ago there were 2 humble bundles filled with Lego games which I got, so after looking at them I picked the oldest, Lego Indiana Jones, played it and finished it 100%. A relaxing title. It's not the first Lego game I play, but the first on Steam. Eventually I'll try to play the others too
I also played a licensed bike game, MotoGP 13, by Milestone. Well the game doesn't have a real ending so I consider winning all 3 classes in career mode the end. Milestone is actually one of the oldest italian dev teams, and most of their releases are racing titles (and most are bike focused since we really loves our 2 wheeled vehicles) and I was surprised by how many games they have on Steam

I also installed and played a LEGO game - City Undercover. Unfortunately it crashed randomly for 3 times in my 3-hour session. I thought it is a Linux/Proton problem but apparently it is prevalent on windows as well. Seems to be a bad port so I uninstalled it at the end.

Also started replaying Alan Wake. Completed the main game once on the 360 when it released. Don't remember anything other than it being a beautiful game, so this is like a fresh experience. I am also following a guide to collect everything.

Finishing off some pending articles so I'm working on these upcoming games (Shinobi, Story of Seasons, Daemon X Machina, Chants of Sennaar) and I'm also replaying Triangle Strategy. Beyond that, this game on iOS and Steam called Merge Maestro is a lot of fun. I recommend trying it out. Recently beat Is This Seat Taken? and it was a lovely indie puzzler.

Finished Herdling, it was cool. The last level of Shadow Gambit is testing my will to live. Shit design.

Played the first couple bosses of Hollow Knight again. Fun to remember that game.

Aslo completed the Dawn of War 1 Winter Assault Order campaign (Imperial Guard ending). Really fun RTS campaign. Will check out the Disorder campaign next, I think. People are very into the Soulstorm map-based campaign too but idk no story seems lame.
