Welcome to the 1980s. BJ Blazkowicz is missing. His last-known whereabouts: Nazi-occupied Paris. The only ones who can find him are his twin daughters, Jess and Soph Blazkowicz—and no Nazi scum are gonna stand in their way.

Liberate Paris from the Nazi threat as you search for your father in the first open-ended co-op adventure in the series, either with a friend or an AI companion. Wolfenstein: Youngblood releases on July 26, 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

With the Wolfenstein: Youngblood Deluxe Edition you’ll receive the Buddy Pass so you can invite a friend to join the Reich-stomping fun—even if they don’t own the game! The Deluxe Edition also includes the Cyborg Skin Pack, decking out the Blazkowicz sisters in titanium allow versions of their Power Suits, guns, combat knives, and hatchets. Learn more about the Deluxe Edition and Buddy Pass:

https://wolfenstein.bethesda.net

The trailer looks nice, the deluxe edition looks like a good deal if you split the cost with a friend.

Great move Bethesda!

The New Colossus was slightly disappointing to me, but I can't say no to a Wolfenstein game with a coop. :blobmorning2:

Also, extra copy for a friend included in deluxe edition is a really nice deal.

So in Wolfenstein 3, do they introduce his grandson Billy and use it as a backdoor entry to a new Command Keen series of platformers?
..Anyway, that looks like a lot of fun, though his daughters seem kind of obnoxious in that way that teenagers are.

I was looking at maybe pre-ordering at Humble and saw this description:

"Team up with a friend or play alone. Level up, explore, and complete missions to unlock new abilities, weapons, gadgets, cosmetics, and more to complement your playstyle and customize your appearance.

Wolfenstein: Youngblood features the most open-ended Wolfenstein experience to date. From a new base of operations located deep in the heart of the Paris catacombs, plan how and when to attack and dismantle the Nazi regime. "

Did we already know the structure was open-ended and mission based, if I'm understanding how that's written. It sounds fairly different in structure, though I imagine it'll feel just as good as the prior games and hopefully still tell an interesting story with well made presentation.

I know not everyone is into RPG mechanics leaking into everything but I welcome this.

I certainly didn't.
But then again, as I proved by being unaware that Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot was a thing, I'm out of the loop. :giggle:

Speaking of Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot, that one is being sold as a Steam key, not a Bethesda Key, on Humble.

So who's buying the Deluxe Edition just to use the buddy pass to play with me? lol

If they announce more with the deluxe version I may go that route because the cosmetics aren’t really selling me. The buddy pass also doesn’t exactly excite me since I rarely play games with a set rhythm to regularly play with others. But I may end up with it since it’s not full price and I love the prior two main games.

I heard they patched in some improvements on hitboxes and other gameplay stuff

Rid Paris of its Nazi problem together with a friend in Wolfenstein: Youngblood, the first co-op game in the series's history. Set in a twisted 1980, step into the power armor of the "Terror Twins," Jess and Soph Blazkowicz, on a mission to find your missing father BJ.
Clean up the Parisian streets with an arsenal of weapons and abilities in online co-op or with an AI companion. Wolfenstein: Youngblood is available July 26, 2019 for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

In an interview with GamesBeat, Wolfenstein Executive Producer Jerk Gustafsson gave players an idea on how big the upcoming game is.

“I think we’re looking at at least 25 to 30 hours if you play through everything,” Gustafsson said. This would make Youngblood the longest entry in the series to date. In the interview, Gustafsson also talks about how the game is more open area based compared to the previous Wolfenstein games, so look forward to more exploration and side missions than previous titles. “It’s a bit weird, because this is our biggest game yet, but it’s a pretty short production time. Like I said, the story is lighter in content as well as tone. But the level progression and the non-linear narrative gives us the ability to add a lot of activities and a lot of missions to do, so the total game time is actually longer than our previous titles,” he elaborated.

This is also the first game in the series where you can play a co-operative campaign. It will be cool for players to explore the different locations more in-depth than they would have in Youngblood’s predecessors.

I have mixed feelings about this one, but I’m not going to not play it. That young lady’s country voice is an earcringe.

I think I might be in the minority, but I really enjoyed New Colossus, so I too plan to pay Young Blood at some point. Hopefully one of these two grow up, have a son who has a football helmet and an interest in space travel

By 1980, the Second American Revolution and the death of Adolf Hitler has pushed the Nazis back, leaving them remaining in only certain areas of Europe.

Despite that, their stockpile of weaponry and reverse-engineered Da’at Yichud technology keeps them a formidable threat. To beat them, Jess and Soph Blazkowicz are going to need more than the teachings of their famous parents – they’re going to need some serious firepower! In Wolfenstein: Youngblood, you’ve got more control over your arsenal than ever before, with an upgradable Power Suit (thanks, Abby!) and a new weapon upgrade system that lets you fine-tune every aspect of your guns.

TAILORING YOUR POWER SUIT
As you progress through the game, you’ll level up and earn Ability Points which can be spent upgrading your Power Suit’s active and passive abilities. Each ability takes a specified amount of points to unlock, and more abilities become available to you as you level up.

MIND

Max out your helmet’s headroom with Mind-expanding buffs to your character. Unlocking the Mind ability tree early grants bonuses like more health and armor after being revived, finding more ammunition off dead Nazis, and a speedy sideways Dash. Higher-level unlocks include spotting hidden collectibles on your radar, increased health, and always having a fully-reloaded magazine when you switch weapons.

MUSCLE

You need brawn to go with those brains, and your Power Suit’s got strength in spades. Muscle upgrades let you increase your total armor; carry more ammo; dual-wield weapons; or lug around the big guns—later upgrades even let you store heavy weapons in your inventory for later!

POWER

The Power tree will let you upgrade your Power Suit with a cloaking device that becomes more efficient as you level it up; or allow you to become a human freight train and turn enemies into paste with an upgraded shoulder slam. There are also a few other hidden abilities that haven’t yet been revealed…

WEAPONS

The weapon upgrade system in Wolfenstein: Youngblood has been revamped from previous games to give you more freedom in the way you can customize your weapons. You can now modify multiple components for your weapons, including:
  • Receiver
  • Sights
  • Magazine
  • Muzzle
  • Stock
There are three brands of weapon upgrades: Nadel, which improves your accuracy; Tempo, which boosts your weapon’s speed and fire rate; and Stier, which increases damage. Depending on the component slot, these upgrades might also give additional effects (such as a Stier drum magazine having a higher magazine capacity) and matching any three of the same upgrade type on a single weapon will grant a powerful brand bonus.

Weapon upgrades are purchased with an in-game currency known as Silver Coins, which you’ll find scattered throughout Paris, so leave no area unchecked! You’ll also earn Silver Coins for completing objectives and missions given to you by Abby and the French Resistance.

You know, prudis , some of these publishers should start paying you for your awesome, and tireless job you do on the forums posting about new games, new trailers/screenshots, and comprehensive updates. (y)

Sometimes, it seems you care more than they do. ;)

And I completely forgot to mention that just because I'm going through it a couple times doesn't mean I'm not up for helping other folks if they need a co-op partner. I'm always up for helping folks out! :highfiveblob:

I also mentioned on Steam a while ago that I did pick up the deluxe edition so if anyone is on the fence about picking it up themselves or they don't necessarily want to own it but still want to try it out then I'm able to invite anyone to play with me thanks to the buddy pass.

There is no RTX support on launch, again.
sigh
i feel like that's the case for every game so far :p

nvidia goes all like "this upcoming game will have the best RTX implementation EVER!" ...

and then one week later in a small press release "... but not on launch"

Anyone else stuck playing on the Bethesda launcher like me? I'll do some co-op with people if so. I played with a random person and we did the first tour. It was pretty crazy! Kind of enjoyable to play co-op as they're more effective than the AI but the movement speed is so quick and the level design has loads of winding corridors and height differences it can be real tough to keep track of your partner if they run off or swap floors or something.

I'm level 18 and having a good time with it. Go into it knowing it's a very different experience and there's a much greater focus on just full on action and you may look past the less stellar bits and have a great time just shooting tons of Nazis.

In this update, we've rebalanced weapons; adjusted enemy health and armor; added mission checkpoints; and tweaked boss difficulty, all based on player feedback! They're doing a really admirable job with post-release support on Youngblood, and it's my hope that over time the eye-rolling hatred against the game will fade and the design improvements will win over people who were on the fence. It's a really neat game. The level design is really, really good. It runs well. The gunplay is excellent, and the recent design changes address some of the sponginess complaints people had. Ultimately, I think the game is padded out a few hours longer than it should have been, but the core movement, jumping, shooting is so well done that if you're having fun running around Paris blowing stuff up, I don't see why being slightly over-long is a huge problem.

I have great admiration for Arkane/Machinegames for pressing ahead and trying to improve Youngblood in response to feedback. While I think the game is too padded out for its own good, it's really not a bad game by any measure I can think of. It has a LOT of good ideas, although it doesn't execute all of them well. When I get the time I'll definitely give it another playthrough.

It saddens me how Metacritic and the Steam forums and /r/pcgaming and such ended up being flooded with the worst kind of internet rage merchants. How dare this experimental spinoff game co-developed by the people who made Dishonored try a bunch of stuff to see what sticks? Spinoff games do weird stuff. Sometimes it doesn't land. The whole point is that the experimental ideas that don't work don't make it into future entries. Screaming hate and poison (and an uncomfortable amount of white nationalist rhetoric, based on what I saw on Steam) towards a game is just something I can't relate to in any sense.

Something that particularly bothers me is the feeling that there's a demographic that wants Wolfenstein dead and buried because they're angry about the direction the series took overall. Machinegames Wolfenstein is intensely political and deals with a sort of deconstruction of the masculine action hero. As a result, a fair few people actively despise the series now because they regard MG's BJ as a "sissy" and stuff like that. And replacing him with his daughters in a spinoff made these people blow a gasket because DA SJ-DUBAWOOOS.
