I did some stats on the 52 games I've completed this year and purchases..

I've bought around 127 games this year for a bit less than 300€.
There are only 10 games I've bought that were more expensive than 10€, and they make up 180€.
93 games were from bundles for a total of 49€.

Of the 52 games I've completed:
  • 35 were games I've bought this year.
  • 13 were games I've bought in 2017, and a lot of those were from December sales/bundles.
  • 1 game was from 2016.
  • 2 games were from 2014
  • 1 I'm not really sure about, but a few years at least.

Interesting results.

I was really hoping to end 2018 by finally starting Valkyria 4. I waited patiently for the DLC to roll out and bought each one as it became available...up until December when the schedule hit the fan. (For PC.)

Now it seems I won't be able to play this game until a nebulous "Early 2019" at best. This was quite unfortunate imo, as I've really appreciated SEGA's efforts on the PC front this year between the above average quality ports and bringing a series like Yakuza to the PC... They had everything going for them, but this sour note at the end of the year is kinda... bleh.

i wonder what SEGA JP fucked up this time around ... because it's always their fault ... SEGA EU always do their absolute best to bring SEGA stuff to PC .... sigh

Honestly Star Ocean 4 looks surprisingly good at times.

Party member #5 looks pretty cool. I've also spotted who I think will be future party member #6 in a cutscene.
I should give this game another go, at least to waste time until the best 360 RPG comes out for the PC.

Beat it once already on the 360 though, is there a difference anyone knows about?

I'm weak and got more games, still no idea when I'll play them, didn't buy any directly on Steam. Shadow of the Tomb Raider (from GMG), Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Far Cry 5 (direct on Uplay) and Forza Horizon 4 (€20 from Amazon.de).

Nevermind that picking winners and losers is the anthesis to free and fair competition.
Wasn't that the crux of the argument the indies were championing back when it was difficult to get on steam if you weren't a big publisher or you didn't have connections? Weird how the discussion changed and exclusivity (by receiving money) + a curated store is so much better now (not weird at all).

I’m thinking about getting Kingdom Come: Deliverance... but I’d hate for my GTX 1070 to struggle at 1440P. Can any of you give me your experiences with the game?

Hey all, I have a question for some of you. I've been really interested in DQ XI. It's right up my ally! But one thing has been sticking out like a sore thumb. The music. No, not the fact that it's shitty, but Sugiyama, the composer. He's a war crime denier as well as being severely anti-LGBTQ, and as someone who considers himself not only an ally to various minority groups, but a Q in LGBTQ.

For other likeminded people reading this, how did you come to terms with it to purchase play and even enjoy the game? And I'm not talking about separating the art from the artist. I think he should be condemned and any discussion of the game should come with a massive asterisk. It's not exactly a kingdomcome Deliverance, CDPR or a Last Nite, where the most prominent member of the team, or in CDPR's case, the company itself (due to a poor apology and general shit handling of awful trans "jokes"). Sugiyama is the composer, which is still an incredibly poignant role, their effect on the project is felt throughout the game, for better or for worse.

So how can I, someone who considers themselves a staunch supporter support a project that has an absolutely vile human being attached to it? I'm just having a hard time with this case in particular and where I stand on it, I feel selfish, as I enjoyed everything else I've seen and heard about the game other than this prick. And once again no "separate the art from the artist". Thank you.

So here's this short Visual Novel I recommend giving a play. It's a very short and light experience but with an interesting aspect to the protagonist, Haru
I have Free to play games filtered out, mostly it's a quality thing or they tend to be filled with mtx to make revenue that way. I tend to ignore f2p on PC wholesale.

Having you as a friend on Steam is great though. Your screenshots got me interested in this small VN, and then I read the user reviews(Epic Games suck it!) and those reviews sold me even more. I have it installed now and I'm gonna read it tomorrow. The first game I complete in 2019.

Thanks for always finding and pointing out good but easily missable things Tizoc!

I'm on the same boat.
I actually bought some DLCs (to tie some of these games to my account) because I saw Tizoc 's screenshots or comments on my activity page.

Thanks, Tizoc!

But why would I want to help the his true vision shine through more? Or would it be even more rebellious to go against his wishes?
the shitty midi OST is in there because he wanted people to go buy concert tickets to hear "the good version", so .... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You're essentially downloading his music he wants to sell lol. That guy is old and he's not going to live for long, he's rich either way and your money will go into supporting the development team too so there's that. The use of his music in the game is the least interesting part of the game anyways.

I would guess that most projects of AAA scale, JRPG, WRPG, RPG, whatever probably have some vile people attached to them.

The only real difference is that DQ's vile person is a person of artistic note instead of just some faceless CEO working in the background, some coding team leader or what have you.

If you buy it, buy it to support the rest of the team, and consider modding it to use any orchestral tracks you own to rebel against his wishes.

And if it still eats at your conscience, just donate something to a charity like one for awareness of the Nanjing Massacre. I don't know if they're still collecting footage, but the USC Shoah Foundation was recently collecting interviews and research to preserve the memory of the atrocity. They also collected testimonies from the Armenian Genocide survivors, Tutsi Genocide survivors and Holocaust survivors in their IWitness platform.

Seems as good an option as any.

That just means i have to put some more Welsh bands in one of the music threads! Though to be fair i can only say about 4 phrases in Welsh to my shame and one of them isn't nice to the english. lol.

Please do so. ;)
I already posted about the SFA here:
Community - New music / recommendations

But, there's lots of great Welsh bands and artists, and I listen to many mysef (Gorky's Zygotic Mynci, Catatonia, Manic Street Preachers, Cate Le Bon, ...).
