Why hasn't Ubi done a open world zombie game? I keep thinking just how awesome that would be, like State of Decay but with Ubi resources behind it.

I really am enjoying Far Cry 5, just Ubi would stop with it's shitty MTX nonsense and EGS shittyness.

Any tips for my first playthrough of Saga SG? I might stick to Normal combat difficulty, and so far Free for all has been working for me shrugs
I don't think I'll change it down to easy any time soon but is 'grinding' a good idea to try and do early if I can? At least to get some quick buffs :x

Kvik or Theswweet are probably better equipped to give tips, I got sidetracked by other games again, haha.

Y'all do know there is a humble choice next week right?
I've been thinking of buying Nioh so many times but didn't because I ended up thinking "what if it's in the next Humble Monthly..." and I've finally pulled the trigger, if it's now in the next Hamble Choice... :disapproval-blob:
...I wouldn't care too much I guess, since I have a vacation now and not when Choice drops.

I knew the monitor would be a great upgrade, but I did not think how it would affect console gaming.

Tried Witcher 3 and Doom on Xbox Game Pass just for fun.

Fuckin' ugh.

Today I learnt that one needs 50k experience points to go from level 4999 to level 5000.
This is also the amount of experience points required to level up a new Steam account to level 95.

The exp requirement to level up increases by 100 xp every 10 levels. That is the reason why people stagnate at the highest levels.

I wouldn't bet on it, since I'm lazy and can't be arsed to check original release dates, but one could argue you have it in reverse :thinking-blob:

Edit - Yup, a quick and dirty wikipedia search gives me 1992 / 1996

And to add to this post with totally unnecessary opinion, I would argue that Pokemon would maybe not have happened without SMT. And I would then argue that SMT would certainly not have happened without Devilman. So maybe Pokemon owes something to Devilman. Which is, frankly, slightly disturbing :p

On a somewhat related note. I would argue that stuff like JRPGs would not exist if it was not for Lord of the Ring.

I don't know all the ins and outs but I still sort of find it weird how JRPGs seem to be the main source of influence for Isekai series (and VNs) but not so much WRPG stuff and table top games. There are some Isekai series like Overlord that do use some of it but a lot of them don't seem to.

So it's like the OG source material is not really referenced that much, this might explain why JRPGs are pretty linear and even when they do have multiple ending like say Nier A that is all still pretty dang linear.

Oh and as for SMT being Pokemon for adult well the Pokemon games don't really have a good story (minus Black and White) while that is one of the draws of SMT.

Oh and if people are wondering what I meant by the Lord of the Rings stuff. As far as I'm aware stuff like Lord of the Rings got people really into fantasy and stuff like D&D would eventually become more common (sort of) and that would eventually lead ti people making a digital DM in the form of PC games (Ultima, Wizardry) and then you would have Japanese devs that would play these games and having never played something like this games in Japan would eventually try to convert these PC games Into something that people in Japan can play on consoles (Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy) and DQ and FF would pave the way for JRPGs. And with JRPGs people would eventually do Isekai LNs that use a lot of the systems that are very common in them.

To this day Wizardry still has a cult following in Jaoan.

PC the home to FPS and RPG.

Blue Reflection is pretty fun.
Though I find it amusing how they made a progression system without exp but still managed to include a way to grind, lol.
Also it's the horny kind of magical girl, not the wholesome one (actually less the magical girl side and more the regular school-life stuff)

Reinstalling FFXIV. I see that they have a new launcher, but sadly they still have the terrible download speeds. I just downloaded Blue Reflection from Steam, steady 93MB/s, close to maxing out my 1gb/1gb FTTH connection, FFXIV ? 9-15MB/s.

Oh, also in Square Enix stupid dumb account system fashion, they blocked my account and made me change my password upon login, just because.

Oh well, anyone still playing FFXIV around here ? :coffee-blob:

This holiday sale is kinda weird for me. I'm doing all the event quests and shit but it's starting to look like it might be the first one in years where I just don't buy anything. I feel like I should, because I've been conditioned to lol, but every time I look there's just nothing I want. Everything I do want is still too expensive and everything else I know I won't play right away, so there's no point in wasting my money now.

Probably helps that I still have a ton of unplayed games from like, the last 3 major sales and probably even further. And one of those is Witcher 3, which I'm now REALLY itching to play because of the Netflix show (as soon as I finish Bloodborne on PSNow). So why buy anything when that's probably gonna keep me busy for the next month or two lol. On the bright side, means my christmas money (and basically any dollar I don't spend) can go towards a GPU upgrade in the near future. Probably gonna get a GTX 1660 Super, which should be sufficient for Cyberpunk and hopefully last me a few years into the next-gen.

Anyway, Merry Christmas Meta!

There's nothing wrong with not spending money, if you aren't playing the games.
I frequently end up every sale questioning why I bought games in the first place, when I have so many games unplayed. :giggle:

Unless I go on a ridiculous buying spree before this sale ends (which I doubt it), this will be the Winter sale where I easily bought less games on Steam.
I have some wallet credit, that I'll surely spend before the sale ends (I'm just thinking about what I'll spend it on), but the sale just feels a lot worse than last year's.
Plenty of games I had on my list to buy had better discounts before (or elsewhere). Discount vouchers give out a smaller discount, and are limited to just one (which is insanely cheap from Valve; they could easily give out those additional discount vouchers, because the increased sales would surely end up covering that decrease in their margin of profit during the sale). The event is as uninteresting as possible. The rewards are next to none (I still remember when you could score some games or DLCs for free, for taking part on previous events).

I know Valve doesn't need to "pull" people to their seasonal sales, but a little more effort wouldn't kill them.

I'm playing in Normal difficulty. Free for all formation is good for dispatching trash mobs ("Easy" battles) relatively quickly. I just stick to Phoenix Dance most of the times.

In regards to grinding, there are some optional landmarks with battles marked 'Hard' which I feel impossible to beat without grinding a little (I'm just not that good of a player). I want to do these Hard battles because the rewards are quite large and for a bit of a challenge. However, you can easily skip these and go on with the story where the battles are easier to manage without grinding.

Erm.....My discovery queue offered me this....

You think that's bad?
All my discovery queues are currently 100% trash. Sadly, there's no exaggeration.

I play a few pinball games like Zaccaria Pinball, which are listed as free-to-play (you have to purchase the tables though).
Because of this, my queues are full of free-to-play titles, when I couldn't care less about F2P games with in-game transactions (unlike the pinball games, in which tables are DLCs). I actually had them blocked, but because they were making me miss notification for my pinball games, I unblocked them, but it's been a disgrace. Plenty of MMORPGs, despite not playing a single one, and so on.

But the worse part is that I made the mistake of buying a game with some heavy amount of fan service recently, Fight Angel, when the sale started.
I'm a sucker for beat'em ups and fighting games (this one is the later), and since I read an update about the developers launching a new "special edition" version of the game (which is supposed to be free for owners of the previous one, if you purchased it before a certain date), I ended up buying it. It was cheap.
Now, my queues are full of games with "hentai" in the title (including the one you listed), lots and lots of them.

It's ridiculous, you buy a fighting game with skimpy outfits and destroyable clothes, and you get queues full of puzzle games filled with nudity, and/or pornographic content.

My queues now are 75% adult content (and not the good one, shoddy games with minimal effort, even in their titles), and 25% free-to-play titles, especially MMORPGs.

Clearly, something isn't working in their algorithms. I could even understand the free-to-play titles, because again I play a game or two that are unfortunately mixed with that tag, but seriously, I bought a game with minimal amount of adult content, and I'm swamped in "hentai" games?
I bought point and click adventure games, and Llamasoft shooters as well, why are my recommendations not from these genres, and instead all come from the genre of a single game I purchased?

I specifically removed anime tagged stuff (dont hate me MC) but it still occasionally suggests the weird games.

I have been blocking all the games that come up with the world "hentai" in it, instead of just going and blocking adult content and nudity tags from my list, because unfortunately if you go and block certain tags, a lot of worthy content ends up being blocked.

Like I mentioned, I had "free to play" blocked, and I started having new releases of pinball tables blocked, and when I checked the store pages of those pinball games, all of their DLCs had white stripes saying it was content I selected to ignore, which was a mess when it came to check what tables I needed to purchase, and which ones I owned already.

If I block "nudity", there are games with minimal amounts of nudity (sometimes it's just partial nudity) that end up being blocked as well. Heck, even the The Witcher games have that tag, so they would be blocked.
In the cases of the developers releasing those "hentai" puzzle games, for those who had a developer page I blocked them, but most don't have one, so I have been blocking each game one by one.

I'm not opposed to adult games, or adult content.
There are games, some even with explicit sexual scenes (like Kara No Shojo) that I would consider "worthy" games to add to my library.

But, I really don't get buying a game with a minimal amount of adult content, and getting dozens and dozens of lame games recommended to me as a result.
Surely, there has to be a middle ground.
Especially when, on the opposite side, I buy pretty much every FMV game I can find on Steam, and I don't remember having a single one recommended to me.
