Nioh continues to be good. I am ready for the game to throw something at me to throws me off but after the thirst hurdle that was the first boss I had no difficulty problem so far whatsoever. I guess I am a hardcore gamer...

What the Supra devs are saying is true. You don't need marketing and if this go well the Steam algorithm may just show your game to a lot of people. Didn't the dev also do a free demo or something and that brought attention to the game?

Unheard I think is also the best selling game that NEXT Studios has released on Steam. If you check the Supra devs review for the game is even one of the first ones to pop up for the game. Up until this point I think NEXT had only been releasing on Steam and is just now moving to consoles.

The moral of the story is that reviews are very important and can help your game stand out. What critics say does not matter (awards) if people are not buying your game.

This also ties in to what Sony does with Indie games and Expos. Expos are nice but not everyone can attend them, so either what Steam did can help or just stream the games online.

Maybe with Yoshi P, Sony will start pushing to show case more indie titles on PSN. The main difference now between PS5 and N/S is that one will have both western and Japanese Indies that you can take on the go and the other will have AA/AAA western and Japanese games that can not run on the N/S (without major sacrifices).

PS5 will be BC with PS4 so there is no need for Indies? Since you will have games to play on it already and all of the newer games will take years to make.

Another decade and PC is still not Dead.

What better way to start off the new decade than with a new Half Life game.

PC gaming is not dead and neither is Half Life

So, I just finished the demo of Supraland. Took me 70mins.

It's simple yet deep. Unlocking new abilities as you go. Really like the pacing. It never feels like a grind but instead very natural progression. It's funny and offers surprisingly lot for explorers who want to venture into every nook and cranny.
The movement speed is relatively brisk, so I lost my footing on many a platform but it was never frustrating. Any kind of obstacle/puzzle is fairly compact and you unlock shortcuts along the way as well. Even managed to find pretty much every secret area.
The last tower was very well done. Some light brain workout mixed with extreme vertical platforming.

Oh, and it's so charming all around. Music, visuals, characters and writing. This is legit!

It would be such a missed opportunity for the title to not be about Cavill's interview. Come on!

Welcome to the Ice Age!

I'm trying... I can't come up with something clever combining both Sweeney's shortsightedness, 2020 (as in 20/20 vision) and the fact that many Epic Store exclusives are going to be released on Steam in 2020.

Edit: another idea... Sweeney kinda sounds like swine. 2019, which was the year of the pig, is ending. (he did hog quite a few releases for himself...).

Mmmm been digging into Disco Elysium today. Man that game is deep. I keep feeling like every choice I'm making is closing off like 3 other avenues of following the case and that's awesome. So many different skills too. My RPG min/max instincts are going haywire.

OT - By Kakarot! Durante got an announcement for us!

(Does anyone remember DBZ Kakarot is coming next month? I keep forgetting it.)

Man... I wish Konami would get their heads out of their collective asses and release the MGS legacy collection (including 4!) on PC.
I really wanted that MGS3 remaster leak to be true. Getting older MGS games on Steam seems like a far-fetched dream now :confounded-face:

I just found (read: the algorithm found) this "War Stories" series on Youtube:

Really worth watching.
(Also, Elemental failed because they didn't know about memory fragmantation? Hire more people familiar with low-level programming, and/or with a decent formal CS education!)

Yeah, it's an amazing game.
I loved Ultima Online and Thief.

I never knew about the troubles with thief and would of been so sad if it never existed ( I mean I technically never would of been sad since I would of never known about it but well)

Anyone else have trouble with the "make a new collection" quest on steam sale? I made a new collection and added 2 random games to it but nope.

edit. nvm it just popped 15 minutes later :so-good-blob:

Taking into account that the new boss of PS brand (Jim Ryan) is the one that said that indie games were not needed not that long ago, and that next gen consoles will have a backend by default, I am afraid of whether or not there will be a gold rush moment next gen for indies, or if it will be just a small improvement for a few months. A ton of indies always are banking on that new gold rush and it not happening would destroy a ton of them.

In the end tho, the main issue is that there are too many games and that not everything will get official reviews nor will be featured in an expo. In the end, those games that get to expos are just a small batch of games (and mostly surprisingly succesful by default as it tends to mean they have a publisher) not the big chunk of games that end up in the store that nobody knows off. There needs to be better discoverability tools in all platforms, but sadly, only Steam actually takes it seriously (mainly because of the issue of infinite backwards compatibility in PC and PC being the primary indie platform causing the game overflow issue faster).

I now i keep parroting it but better to pick up stuff that are cheapest they ever been esp. If u could play them soon.

Been meaning to reply to you;
What to play next and choice paralysis will always be a conundrum and everyone has their way of dealing with it.
One i have been using is to go 'historically'; play the games you own based o the year they released in.

So u create a new dynamic collection and set it to arrange by release date
Steam should auto populate the collection.

Granted some old games may not jave aged well but at least this way you can tick off gsmes u played or have no interest in playing atm.

Alt. Going historically lets u discover how games have improved since their era of release if not be surprised at how well that games mechanics are compared to more modern games.

One last sale recommendation.
This one is actually a 4 game pack (the 3 previous games in the series are included, DRM-free on the game's folder).
If you enjoy older adventure games in first person perspective (like Myst), you may enjoy these games:

Yeah, i got 10 hours to go unlike all you time travellers!

I'm also sat here with 15 items in my cart as i got paid today and haven't bought anything in the sale so i had a browse through my list, luckily i'm averaging under £2 per item. Madness.

For the steam task to invite someone to a game, does it count just inviting them and directly cancel? (or how it works, since I never play with people haha)
Yeah, all the tasks just require the invite/Voice chat and then you can cancel it once it's working.

fantomena Get well soon! I know the feeling, i was drowsy and headachy over christmas and i'm not feeling too great today either. Luckily i'm not back in work until the 16th so there's that at least.
