officially confirmed by Sony exec

PSB: Speaking of experimentation, there have been rumors of a Horizon Zero Dawn complete edition that might be coming to PC… can you confirm or deny that?
HH:
Yes, I can confirm that Horizon Zero Dawn is coming to PC this summer…. There will be more information coming from Guerrilla, from the new studio directors [Michiel van der Leeuw, JB van Beek, and Angie Smets] pretty soon.

PSB: PlayStation is no stranger to publishing titles on the PC, but Horizon: Zero Dawn is one of the largest games to make that leap. Is there anything you would say to PlayStation fans? What does it mean for the future?
HH:
Sure. I think it’s important that we stay open to new ideas of how to introduce more people to PlayStation, and show people maybe what they’ve been missing out on.

And to maybe put a few minds at ease, releasing one first-party AAA title to PC doesn’t necessarily mean that every game now will come to PC. In my mind, Horizon Zero Dawn was just a great fit in this particular instance. We don’t have plans for day and date [PC releases], and we remain 100% committed to dedicated hardware.

Published by Playstation Mobile ? But why ?
SIE has published games on PC before.

Hopefully the port is great.

I can't help but wonder....Who put this on the table during an executive meeting ?

So many questions.

Well that's not the branch that published Predator on EGS....

I really don't get it.

Very happy about this news of course.

Apparently Playstation Mobile is simply just a division working on getting Playstation published games running on devices that are not Playstation.

Wishlisted and ready to buy it. I just hope it's not too expensive since I already have it for PS4 and couldn't play it because the console broke down. Twice.

I hope this is staged:

I can't put into words just how miserable of a spectacle this is.

I hope he can get help on top of the fact that Sony are not headed to a PC + PS5 strategy. The console will still have its exclusives since this is what matters the most to those shallow individuals.

Meanwhile, we'll enjoy Horizon at 144hz.

I wish we would've gotten the Personas and SMT's instead of Shadow of the Colossus with mechs.

I hope this is staged:

I'm not comprehending what I'm seeing while the person appears to be sobbing. Is that his desk toppled over and a ps4 on the floor (safely assuming it was on the desk prior)? If so, expected, but pathetic, given how just the rumours caused a firestorm online. Will definitely look into it depending on specs and eventual price.

Dear new Sony friends,, dig into that back catalogue too. A lot of Sony scloosies my pc would like to not emulate if it doesn't have to.

Awesome! Please, please, please have good regional pricing. I know I'm sounding like a broken record, but it's something important for people who live in shitty countries like me and don't want to resort to piracy.

I'm very, very surprised that Sony is bringing it to Steam. I will buy it day one to support this decision.

I hope HZD does well on Steam, resulting in more games coming to Steam. I also hope this means the rumors about a partnership between Epic and Sony are false, and that Sony follows Microsofts example to release in as many stores as possible.

Neil Druckmann liked Guerillas PC tweet.

The multiplayer spin off could come to PC but IMO it's a very poor fit.
PC has more than enough multiplayer games already, and I assume most PC gamers would more hyped about the SP.

I see no point at all in releasing the multiplayer spin off on PC, dead within a week if even that while the story would have a far, far bigger impact.

Amazing news, I'm not gonna lie, I have been awaiting this for a while now, been wondering whats taking them so long to finally confirm it. I've been playing HZD via PS Now for a while and I bloody love it. Even with all the drawbacks of streaming it, it's still became one of my favourite games. I will purchase this as soon as the purchase button goes live. =)

Great news that it's not EGS exclusive by the way. I was seriously worried this would be the case.
With Death Stranding it's at the very least the second high-profile PC release that Epic could not lock down.

Running out of cash are we, Epic ?

I dont think cash is a problem for them, but the EGS must seriously underperform. Epic has promised miracles to devs, and I dont think they delivered. Plus, all the negative opinion it has garnered probably just sent the right message eventually. At some point, devs dont want to sell their productions on a shitty store with a bad reputation that sells a fraction of what they would sell on Steam.
AND lets not forget Valve wasnt exactly born yesterday. They never slept on their laurels, as much as some people tried to make it look that way. I'm certain Valve has enough tricks up their sleeve and good convincing arguments to bring people (back) onto Steam. And they have never stopped just making Steam better and better.

They're not running out of cash cos most of their deals outside special treatment cases (like I'm sure they gave BL3 more than a sales guarantee) are scammy and free or close to that for Epic since they just give sales in advance. Some games may not have met the goals but at least will have mitigated the cost a lot freeing that money to go to the next deal. So it's not so much a case of not having money but that they don't even wanna invest as much as it seemed at first.

This is the same person.
From that video...I just hope these people are in some sort of elaborate joke that I am out of the loop on since there is this sinking feeling I get when I think about what it means if they are legitimate... :blobxorcism: That video seriously sounds like someone who would harm themselves and/or others, like no joke...

It's the same person who threw a meltdown over Death Stranding.

So, uh... the game itself is pretty good. Played it sans DLC a while back and my only wish was 60fps and a way to use a mouse to aim the bow. Getting the complete edition on PS4 was going to force me to replay the game just for the DLC. Now I have a good excuse to replay it again and play the DLC.

I wonder if Sony is going to allow HZD to be streamed over Geforce Now.

I can't possibly understand why anyone would be angry if more people can play a certain game. How selfish can people be?
They attach a portion of their identity to a piece of hardware. It's some weird thing where something they love (i.e. the games) has become intrinsically attached to something only tangentially related (the brand or company that owns it or the hardware it runs on).

I kind of understand it as when I was a kid I was a Sega fanboy in the 90s. The early 00s were particularly painful in that regard as something I loved was changing and being torn apart, and it was kinda weird and upsetting. But I was also like 12 or 13 years old when it happened, and even then my reaction wasn't as bad as some of these manchildren.

There's one bonehead talking about "the philosophy of PlayStation", as if it's something more than a bland corporation selling creative products designed for mass market appeal. When you think of it like that, them expanding their audience was bound to happen at some point or another.

And it's not like Sony hasn't tried to court the PC audience in the past. The PS4 Pro was a direct message to PC owners who wanted a superior experience to the bog standard console half-way through a lifecycle. In that regard, it was a failure, and the fact that they are testing the waters of actually releasing games on PC confirms that.

There are probably a lot of reasons why Sony have done this, and I won't go into them into too much depth, but it makes sense to me.

I don't see much room left in the console space after cloud starts gaining traction, but I don't think PC is going to be too heavily disrupted by it. All the cloud services will be running on PC hardware in one form or another, and the people who are adamant that they want to play on hardware they own will probably move to more open and robust platforms going forward anyway. Open and robust platforms like the PC. Sony are already doing their cloud thing, but we haven't really seen anything from them to address concerns of people who don't want to play on the cloud should it consume the console hardware space. This move to PC is the first steps towards that, I feel.

And Sony would have to be out of their minds to ask people to buy a PS5 just for first party games. Sony are not Nintendo - PS5 hardware will be heavily subsidised by sales of first and third party games, PS+ subscriptions and DLC/microtransactions made on those games through the PS Store. If you have customers only buying first party PlayStation games (themselves costly endeavours) then that limits where you can turn a profit on those customers. Better to just bring the games to where they'd prefer to play and prevent them from buying hardware in the first place.
