Seems like Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was a one-off for Epic, some people thought more EA games would arrive on EGS, but I guess they don't have the backend for the games or EA don't care about EGS.
Epic had some Fortnite Star Wars cross-promo deal going, so it was probably Disney that forced EA to release JFA on EGS once they announced they were coming to Steam.

70 hours in Civ6 now but only 7% of the achievements, it's going to take a long time to get a respectable amount!
75% is reasonable. You know that right?

I have 5% and what seems like a weirdly low playtime of 13 hours. I'd better get cracking if we going to have a 75% party in a few years.

Yeah, I read somewhere a while ago that the reason Fallen Order appeared on EGS was Disney and not EA.

Pretty sure they used Fallen Order to test the waters and got to the conclusion the steam/egs sales ratio was 99/1, not worth the effort.
Plus, do fortnite kids even care or know about EA's backcatalogue? Do they even know what C&C or NFS is?

Yeah I think at first I got a bunch and then its been harder and harder. I will be content the day I get over my average completion rate which is at 35% now, going to take awhile!
Where's the fun in that!?:D

It's interesting that you say that, because I feel the opposite. Even though I did enjoy MH:W, it's far more "grindy" than DS ever was: the whole main game mechanic is basically repeating the same thing for resources, isn't it?
Yes and no. The thing is that you have an entire map filled with resources and monsters that have an AI and interact with each other. The combat system has a ton of subtleties and things I am still discovering. It is a game based on repetition and memorization, but the way it happens is framed around the commitment to making you learn and play as a hunter. The ecosystems means that two hunts for the same monsters will in all likelihood not be the same.

That variation is what I enjoy about it. That game managed to keep things interesting where for me, DS really got tedious and bothersome after the first couple runs back to a boss that I realized I'd have to learn by heart and react to it within fractions of a second, all specialized knowledge that won't be of any use once I overcome it. That's not to say MHW doesn't have the same thing to some extent but somehow it feels a lot less punishing, has more variety, is less repetitive and a framed in a way that is a lot more enjoyable than DS. Not to mention you acquire knowledge and learn about the world and not just the monsters themselves. That whole observation, learning and asking yourself questions about the world is really joyful to me and the ecosystems are both aesthetically and functionally beautiful.

Exploration in DS is a joy, there is no question about that. It's the bosses that are really narrow as an experience. Monster hunting in MHW involve a lot of stuff other than getting into one specific arena after running back for a minute and dashing around mobs because somehow the game has an allergic reaction to the concept of not wasting your time. There's a constant interaction with the world and observing it that I really love and makes the experience varied. If I had to sum up my feelings on it, I'd say that MHW fights feel a lot less repetitive.

That being said, I have heard that MHW's endgame is MMO-grindy and that I can't speak for yet. I generally hate that stuff but, as Yahtzee put it, maybe I'm underestimating the appeal of a second job you have to pay for :p.

Edit : Also, crap. It sounds like I'm dunking on DS in order to prop up MHW. That wasn't my intent and at the end of the day they are very different games.

I just feel much more involved in a game if I know it expects me to actually be careful, discover things (even mechanics!) on my own, and maybe fail sometimes than when it mostly does away with all of that to varying degrees.
Same, which is why I greatly appreciate Rain World even when it hurts. It really is the quintessential "discover it yourself" game.

Since we're making Souls-related controversial statements, let me pitch in: The absolute worst part of any Souls game is the boss battles.
I disagree, but only because Demon's Souls exists.
And on that note, I'd much prefer that game getting a PC port, if I had to (could) choose. DeS is truly unlike other games in the series. Thankfully it can be emulated reasonably well with a multi-core CPU now.

Uh, why are we missing so many games released in the late 00s? I was listening to Frank Klepacki and Universe at War score started, I don't even know where I can buy this game now, probably nowhere and there's a ton of similar cases.

New consoles are definitely not in the same ballpark as PS4 and Xone were when they released, but I'm pretty sure (depending on a situation with Corona) we're going to see a new high-end GPU that will outperform consoles by the end of a year
I mean, we did see a high-end GPU that outperforms the new consoles by the end of the year.

By the end of the year 2018 that is.
The 2080ti handily outperforms both of them in all aspects -- and so does the 2080 for PS5.

(Of course, we will see more affordable cards that outperform them as well, most likely released before the consoles themselves)

If it can't be bought, it's basically abandonware, and while the legal situation might be murky, I don't see any moral issue with pirating games that you couldn't pay anyone for anyway. Like, the only one who could profit from it anymore would be scalpers from eBay and fuck that.

Something very troubling if true......

"Lmao. This guy is a joker. I'd post the Discord screenshots of them admitting to making this video without any proof just to fuck with people, but I don't want to get banned. "

What's going on InquisitorAles ?
Apparently it was made in bad faith according to some and to spread miss info according to Era. Someone gave these screenshot to mods on Era we see how it plays.
As it was already mentioned here, [UWSL]this Discord conversation was taken out of the context. I was saying that if I'll drop all this info without 100% undeniable proof no one would believe me while someone with a bigger following can get away with just saying "it's coming, but I won't say any detail!". I'm not denying that this was a stupid thing to say and wording could have been better, but it was frustrating to see this rumor going back and forth for so long without anything new to add. That's why I asked permission from people who are related to this project to share more specific details without compromising them, like available settings and studios that are involved with this remaster, to show that I'm not making it up in a bad faith. I already sorted this out with ERA mods and they took my side in this incident, but yeah, it's a good reminder that I need to be more careful [/UWSL]with what I'm saying in public so no one would twist them in the wrong way. It's pretty telling that person who made such claims on ERA didn't link to me directly in this thread and was sending those Discord screenshots behind my back, despite perfectly knowing that I'm an active member of the community and can respond on those allegations on my own.

Anyway, it's been a hard week for me and I appreciate all your support, guys. I made this video and put my entire credibility under the risk because I have absolute trust in my sources, and other info that those people kindly shared with me turned out to be officially confirmed later. I'm creating my channel because I truly care about all this stuff, so spending hours to double-check everything to not spread misinformation. I might take a little break from the internet and focus on other things until this Bloodborne info will be confirmed, will try to not miss any notification and catch up later with everything.

You did good. Console warriors are just feeling extra fragile right now and are being extra shitty to people, especially when it's related to the PC.

Take care and look after yourself.

I don't doubt that current, high end GPUs will be more capable than whatever is going to power next gen. consoles.
I'm more curious how big the difference is going to be.
Let's assume the RTX 2080 is ~25% "faster", and let's assume that next gen. games will run somewhere in between 1440p-2160p (+ some kind of awesome up-scaling technique) , but frame rate targets will stay at 30fps. PC Gamers with a 1440p / RTX 2080 setup could suddenly have trouble hitting 60fps*.

*At least according to layman math and if you do not factor in DLSS (which is ageing like fine wine and will need to be factored in, at one point in time).

Anyway, I'm liking this Indie live expo format so much. A trailer and a few minutes of discussion for each game, move on to the next, and repeat. It's better than say, Nintendo direct format, that doesn't allow you to breath and think.

Me too. This format gives us time to think about what we have seen and also gives us the time to look up the game. The two MCs are also pretty fun to watch lol.

Well I'll talk about favorite fights in a souls game and it's Demons Souls

It's when
you become the boss for someone else as the golden wrapped tornado looking head wrapped hat, I ended up fighting against another guy for like 45 minutes and by the end of it he eventually won because I ran out of healing stuff but then like 4 minutes later I got a bunch of hate mail from what I can only assume was this guy on PSN saying how that was the lamest shit on earth. I thought it was great.
It's a great and weird thing but playing the game later makes that boss super boring.:confounded-face:

That thumbnail + title has me in stitches and i don't even know what this is about

The custom controller and low level specialisations of a PS5 built around instant access of data could be quite interesting for games going forward. He has a point about old PCs with HDDs. Could essentially force people to upgrade to SSD if they haven't already.

This INDIE Live EXPO 2020 stream is too damn enjoyable. The commentators are funny and the stream itself is packed with games. :smiling-eyes::smiling-eyes::smiling-eyes:
Absolutely. I originally planned to watch only for 15 minutes or so, but then I'm glued to the stream until now.

Indie Picks and Indie Waves are interesting formats for showcasing games, combined with entertaining hosts.

Tbh, I did not expect much before watching and the whole stream completely exceeds my expectation. A fun stream is very much needed now when the world is burning.

I wont buy the PS5 until well into its lifetime, if ever. Sony just increased prices 16% due to a new tax and now every new game is $70. And since the Mexican Peso is utterly worthless right now, well, fuck that.
Exactly.

Never buy consoles until they're at least three years in. I usually wait for four.

Small library, big exclusives get delayed, expensive games, hardware problems, in other words, don't be a sucker.

True. You can get yourself caught in the forever waiting cycle.

Rule of thumb for me is if a slim version hasn't been release and on sale, its a no go. So that 2017 for the PS4.

(I got my PS3 as an afterthought 8, yes EIGHT years after release and cleaned up with cheap games)

Seems like Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was a one-off for Epic, some people thought more EA games would arrive on EGS, but I guess they don't have the backend for the games or EA don't care about EGS.
That most likely was a tie in with Fortnite. If people are there for Fortnite and want more star Wars stuff they might buy the game and since it's using unreal engine, Epic might lower their take for the game on their store.
