Yeah reading up about them apparently they are being pressured by corporations for the e-library when I posted this hence my apprehension. Nevertheless DOWNLOADED.
Yeah they basically were operating previously like a library in the sense of 1 person can check out X book for 1 week at a time with Y amount of people waiting to check out that book next (Even though it was all digital, so there is technically no limit) with the pandemic going and libraries etc closing on they decided for good or bad to remove their limit and let people check out as many books as they want with no limit

So now they're getting sued because of it

BTW, has anyone here used Blender? Any recommend tutorial on 3D sculpting for complete beginners?

Edit: Actually, Zbrush too. It seems that learning Zbrush is better than going to Blender instead.

It's good to be back in Oblivion. Not sure how this happened, but I never actually played Oblivion seriously. I remember playing it for a while, but never actually finished it. The game came at a wrong time for me, as I was still busy with MMOs and school back then. I always wanted to go back, but the lack of controller support killed my desire every time.

The other day, I learned that the game finally has controller support via mod. It's also a relatively new mod too, just released last year. I have no more excuse and finally installed the game yesterday with all the essential mods. I'm ready for a new adventure in Cyrodiil!

Eh, have I lost gamer cred today ? In Morrowind, I got desperately lost in a pyramidal city with waterways. Stopped playing :drinking-blob:
Yeah I know, that's harsh. But I was REALLY lost.

Yeah I tried Morrowind, got hopelessly lost and didn’t like how my character could miss most hits of a melee weapon when standing right in front of someone 🤷‍♂️

I finished Oblivion on 360 I can't remember a single interesting thing about it.

I was maybe 100 hours into Skyrim on PS3 but the game became so bugged and the save game so big it basically slowed to a crawl and I gave up.

I could only get into a Elder Scrolls game when Skyrim came along and simplified everything ;)

Not sure if I should take a chance on Greedfall, but only that or some other cheap game if I can find, OR if I should get Ni No Kuni 2 and Bloodstained.
I loved Greedfall! One of my favourite games from last year :) I'd recommend it :)

We talking Oblivion in here? :heroblob:
Here's my Half-Aeterna in Nehrim, it's like Oblivion in another reality one where the game is good :crystalblob:

Also, the image quality is a bit :disappointed-face: but that's what you get in a modded, ENB boosted, jury-rigged conversion mod of the mess that is Oblivion to begin with.

Morrowind was awesome when you were out in the nature. But when you went to Vivec were each city block looked exactly the same, with no real way of finding out where you were supposed to go besides looking at a few signs, I was hopelessly lost.
When I finally found who I was looking for, the guy did not have the conversation option that I needed to proceed. But if you raised your standing with him, the conversation option would appear.

How I was supposed to know all this, I do not know.

Look, I love Morrowind, but in some parts it was really obtuse.

I have a confession, I never beat Morrowind either. I was still high school in Oblivion days, and Morrowind is even older than that.

Damn, Anthem is 80GB now? I'd like to go back to it, but I'll wait for 2.0 instead.

Nehrim is definitely on my next to play list. I read the Steam reviews (it was mixed) the other day, and people say it's buggy though. Just how buggy is it? In comparison, Enderal has very positive reviews with relatively way less bug complaints.

I started Morrowind like 5 different times before it finally clicked with me. I was just so totally lost in the beginnig and it was the first Bethesda game I've ever played. It was really overwhelming.

And it wasn't translated in Italian, so that probably added to it.
Although I did manage to complete Ultima IX a few years prior and that wasn't translated either; I remember that I played with a dictionary beside me, but it probably /certainly had a much easier English than Morrowind.

Eeeh, it's Oblivion (which is not stable without fan patches), with extra stuff that is likely to break every so often.
It can crash. Not every ten minutes, but still. It doesn't run very well either.
But gameplay wise, there's not much to complain about (and there are some crazy scripted quests that probably aren't a good idea in this engine), I haven't had any issue on that point yet.

But it's obviously a much older project, based on a much older game. It doesn't have the same amount of polish nor the same story and voice acting quality.
But I do enjoy the atmosphere more, Enderal feels pretty gamey in its approach to the game world.

Sometimes untranslated is better than translated. I won't ever forget Oblivion French translation.
  • Launch the fireball spell at a crab.
  • Game launches light spell.

I have no idea how this could end up in a published product.

Edit - It was even worse than that. Going by a quick google search
'torche = boule de feu et boule de feu = soin'

Meaning Light was Fireball and Fireball was Heal :dizzy-face:

I think I said that before, but Bethesda never deserved their success, and it worked because Morrowind was a miracle. After that, the writing, QA and game design imploded, and Bethesda is not capable is making complete working products.

I learned that Oblivion had two versions on Steam... the regular GOTY and the Deluxe one.
The later version is only in English. This makes sense for a tiny indie company and a small game that never sold well. :hushed-face:

I see. That's good to hear.

I think Enderal has a pretty well done game world. The main city is so majestic and it acts as your main hub. If Nehrim is even better than that, then I guess I'm in for a treat.

Did I misunderstand or is a former Elder Scroll conversion being turned into a full game ? The Forgotten City ?

It definitely feels different. You don't really have a central hub (not permanently at least), there's a bunch of city states at war with one another, and you get to travel and explore more, but none of the content is nearly as dense as Ark in Enderal.
I like the exploration better, as it feels slightly less open (not like you can't go exploring near everywhere after the tutorial, but you are railroaded a bit more) but more varied without being as jarring as Enderal.
Having to take a fairly long trek around the mountains to reach a desert makes a bit more sense than just running downhill from the snowy parts of the map.

On the other hand, there's definitely less quest content in general, and some parts of the map are much scarcer than the rest. Which kinda makes sense in a way.

Oblivion was a graphical blender at the time, imo. Felt like it was a step down from Morrowind, which took up the Ultima legacy in some regards. But it was something new and felt fresh on consoles. It manages to introduce the "immersive RPG" to many people. It deserves some praise for that.
Later Skyrim and Fallout 3 improved this new, theme park approach that started with Oblivion and now every Bethesda RPG is the same.
At least there was Prey and Dishonoured.

I loved every Elder Scrolls games I've played to be honest. When Morrowind came along, the atmosphere of it was second to none and I played it for hours before giving up because it was too clunky for me and the melee was really too hard. But this trailer still holds up and is a testament to how special that game was. Then Oblivion came along, and I loved that one too. I finally had the hardware to run it and it was a thing to behold. It wasn't as good as Morrowind but it still made for very happy times.

Then Skyrim happened, and I adored it. I know everyone likes to criticize its flaws, but I think people are forgetting just how atmospheric, how beautiful and enthralling that game was in 2011. I can't honestly watch this trailer and pretend that I'm unmoved. The worst I could say is that I've played too much and that it's visually aged. That game captured my imagination like few others and if I have to be honest, I wish I could play a remade version in a better engine :).

Right now, replaying Skyrim amounts to spending entirely too much time modding it and it's become a liability honestly. I can't be bothered anymore and it's the reason I haven't touched Enderal.

When I think about Skyrim, I can't help but remember how an incredible number of quests had zero interest if you where a good aligned character, and the rest was probably bugged. Ninja monk scream was dumb, plot was inexistant...
I can't fault the immersion though, that's its greatest aspect. Enthralling experience.

They are indeed charming. I also really like how Fallout 4 feels when running around.
It's probably why I like the SureAI conversions so much, it's a similar approach to the base games but with mostly fixed issues, where you don't suffer constantly from bad combat, poor stat progression, awful balance and repetitive content.

I do wonder when (if?) we'll get Skywind and Skyblivion.
That's one good aspect of The Elder Scrolls VI taking such a long time, people have a lot of time to make their mods and conversions without them becoming obsolete with a new game coming out.
Also Skyblivion has such a bad ass trailer:

Yeah, that game actually sneakily forced really creepy and evil stuff on you if you weren't careful. Now that you mention it, being a genuinely good character is kind of tricky, but I remember loving the world anyway.

Holy crap, what a trailer! Parts, especially the city, still look as dated as the game but overall it's really amazing.

Oh god, now I have flashback of fighting Draugr. Skyrim, everything was Draugr.
I loved the Elder Scrolls games especially Morrowind and it's sense of exploration and world. Skipped Oblivion because of Level Scaling which i hate but wished i'd played it because of the stories people had of playing it drunk and next day finding their house was full of spoons and everyone in the village was dead.

Skyrim really got it's hooks into me, didn't start the dragon quests for HOURS, played a stealthy archer mostly solo because companions liked to stand in doorways blocking my aim, had 1 dungeon out of 300 left to do and couldn't find which one it was. Spending 25 minutes staring at rock textures bouncing and jiggling on my screen as it tried to find polygon edges to jump up a mountain instead of spending 5 minutes walking around it. Modding my best bow to have insta-paralysis because people frozen in running poses or sat at tables with arrows through their heads never got old.

Didn't play any DLC as i was burnt out by then.
