This just released on Steam , looks pretty fun, made by one guy

The Terran Empire is in shambles and you barely escaped the onslaught. Your only mission is to reach a set of coordinates, a journey that will take several centuries. To reach your destination you´ll need to explore unknown sectors, gather resources, find new crew members, discover new technologies, assist your allies and defeat your enemies.

If you love exploring and battling through unknown quadrants of space with a fully customizable warship… Voidship: The Long Journey is for you

  • Build your own ship – Combine weapons and special modules to build a ship suited to your style of play.
  • Space travel takes time – Your travel in space takes hundreds of years, your crew will age and die.
  • Uniquely skilled crew members – Each person has their own strengths and weaknesses, affecting the special abilities of your ship.
  • Traditions system – Decide which principles define the surviving Terran people.
  • Complex strategic gameplay – Tactical overlay reveals your enemies weaknesses, exploit them with your special abilities.
  • Play RTS or shooter mode – At any point, you can switch between RTS and shooter mode, which gives you a more dynamic experience.
  • Real-time 2D space combat – Battle against a huge variety of unique enemy spaceships.
  • Randomly generated maps and rogue-lite gameplay – Each playthrough a new world to explore.
  • Moddable – All game scripting data is easily accessible.

.SHIPBUILDING

A wide selection of modules gives you near countless ways to design your ship. Large dreadnaught class ships may be powerful, but become very slow and especially vulnerable in ion nebulas. A speedy spaceship can kite the enemy and evade most weapons

.STRATEGY

The enemies in your path are quite challenging. You can pause the game and identify the weakest points of each enemy. Concentrate your weapons on a specific module to take out the engines, weapons or repair stations to weaken your enemy. Learn from your mistakes and add countermeasures to your ship to have a better outcome in the next battle.

EXPLORATION

Different factions inhabit different star systems. Based on the design of your ship you can choose to avoid the enemies you aren´t prepared for. Space travel takes time and traveling from one star system to another may take decades. Over time your crew will age, mature and reveal their needs and thoughts.

I have just discovered that I can directly search for a game on Steam with Qwant by adding &steam to the search keywords.

Similarly, if I cannot find something with Qwant, I can add &g to search on Google.
It was suggested by someone on ResetEra a long time ago and it has been pretty handy for me since then.

daaaaaayum, son ... nice!
30 hours in a week?
Haha yeah, I think I had 4 hours of idling in it before and now it's at 32 hours. Not sure how I managed, I've only played when I've had coffee in a Starbucks and visiting libraries. But it's so damn good! Like before I used to be embarrassed when gaming in public but with this game I don't care at all.:D

Has anyone here played Insomnia or Pathfinder recently? I'm curious how they are months after release in regards to bugs.

Another game (Spellbreak) is having its alpha and beta testing on Steam, but will only launch at the EGS.
The developer apparently is deleting all comments regarding this, because of the NDA for beta testers:

Valve really needs to crack down on this.
Developers that are using Steam only for testing, promotion, or customer support, only to launch the game exclusively (timed or not) elsewhere, should be kicked from the service. Valve banned developers for reasons as simple as a developer posting a review for its own game. Is that seriously a worse offence than the crap developers such as this one, and Zen Studios, are pulling?

yeah, something tells me they will

i mean, it's one thing to have a store page up for a few weeks/months and then take it down for whatever reason (which still isn't fine since it could count as marketing, but eh, whatever)

and another to conduct alpha and beta testing of your game FOR 7 MONTHS only to then just fuck off to epic because money ...

it's just NOT ok ...

Pathfinder seems pretty good now though I lost about a full chapter of saves due to a SSD crash. I assume I filled up the cloud allocation and it just stopped updating. Last time I tried Insomnia it was still super resource hungry.

I believe it is fine. Dev paid $100 to have access to tools provided by Vave. If they decide not to release on Steam, they only hurt themselves in the process.

I imagine that Valve has made a profit from the situation, since I doubt it cost more than $100 to provide these services. It might as well be one of Valve's business model with Steam Direct.

So they sold founders pack up to 119$ and are hiding on what platform the game will be released? Not scummy at all. :unamused-face:
Dauntless did the same thing.
People bought these packs, were using the game's own launcher, and very soon, they will be "forced" to migrate their accounts to the EGS, since the game will be exclusive going forward.

Nice way to treat their customers, ain't it?

The only reason this is probably okay is that Spellbreak used no infrastructure since it’s a dead game.

Also, hilarious how some nitwits are trying to spin lack of player counts on EGS as a positive:

Now you can’t make informed purchases, isn’t that great? #GreedyValve #ForTheDevelopers

I'm I reading this right? They know their game is dead on arrival and they go with Epic so they can mislead someone buying it.

Nah, that quote is someone on Era trying to spin the lack of player numbers on the EGS as a good thing, because people won't buy a game they know it doesn't have anyone playing on Steam, but will buy on the EGS, because they don't know it's a dead game.
Probably, they are expecting all these misled players will somehow make the game alive or something.
Really, I struggle to understand the logic of some people, especially as a consumer.

I do think that Wok is right that this more or less doesn’t matter. It’s a dumb decision, it’s probably a waste of time for Valve, the devs and their testers, but it really doesn’t matter that much.

If we want people to care when we criticize about Epic, we have to make sure that we don’t Chicken Little every thing that happens with the store.

The only real important thing I’d point out here is the player count issue. Not that I take the EGS seriously, but I certainly won’t take it even remotely seriously until I can see player counts for multiplayer games.

Does anyone have any suggestions of 10-12€ games currently on sale with a decent discount, that were never bundled before?
Is Recore any good?
Rabi-Ribi? (I love metroidvanias, but I keep passing on this game, because the gameplay on the videos I've seen don't seem particularly fun)
Tokyo Xanadu eX+? (are the DLCs new content/items, or just early unlocks?)

thanks

Rabi Ribi it's a deep metroidvania mixed with some bullethell bosses, I think you have mentioned before that you like shoot'em ups so maybe this a good combo for you. I enjoyed my time with it when I beat it, recommended ;)

Edit: If you have other titles in mind just say it, if I have played it I will gladly give my impressions :p

The only Tokyo Xanadu DLC that's maybe worth getting is the outfit and accessory ones, which has new costumes for some characters (but it's just costumes, sooo), the others are essentially paid cheats and worthless.
The game is very fun though, I very much enjoyed it.

A few other games I can think of around that price range:

I am conflicted about this game; the roster intrigues me but the visuals are a major turn off. I could've stomached the gameplay if the animations and visuals weren't like this.

In other news, I finished Star Ocean 4! Took 42 hours.
Got all the character endings except Faize's... Bummer. But, oh well.
Overall enjoyed my time with it. Combat is fun, the characters and story were interesting enough (though I feel like it got somewhat stupid) and for a game that old it looked really good at times. Environment and creature design towards the end got really good.

The side content is mostly garbage though, don't waste your time with that.

Lookin' forward to this myself. You know... eventually and stuff lol.

I really wanted Star Ocean V to come to PC. I know people rag on the weird character designs, but man, the environments in that game are nice lookin' and it has a new engine from tri-ace. I wanted to see what you could with it at 4K with a ReShade...
