I submitted one answer during the first stage and after it zoomed out the only thing it helped was to show me I was wrong on my first guess so yeah, definitely not going to score super well, ha!

And I'm a little confused on the theme as it certainly appears that everything was zoomed in on a nose but some of them are decidedly un-noselike. Like one looks like a racecar. But I guess it could still be some nose equivalent but while zoomed in so much it looks like something else? That's definitely throwing me off, though.

You are not alone - I am sure you will all do MUCH better from the 15th onward. :)

There's not that much of a picture theme this time (the "zoom out" is the theme!), for the 3rd and 4th row I just gathered a few 4K screenshots and thought it would be funny to have them all start on the nose. So don't try to see a nose in everything! :D

"That's a penis!"

I'm sorry guys! :p

I once had the plan to make a penis quiz (like the boobies riddle years ago), but couldn't find 25 entries. ;) Beyond the five you see here, I only had a Larry game, GTA 4, Gynoug and some japanese nonsense. How many more do you know?? :help

But yeah, eventually I thought that the five of this current round should be enough.

Anyway, the fourth zoom level is online as of yesterday. It seems to be getting easier now! :)

September Quiz - an experiment that solves itself

level 2

level 4

I will post one more (level 5 on tuesday), then I'll take a break with posting and you'll have to remind yourself to check on the quiz page for the new update.

I keep forgetting to take the time to submit answers. I knew stuff during levels 3 and 4 where I could have gotten more points but never submitted anything. Poo.

Alright, this self-solving quiz is almost done - we are on the penultimate stage, on wednesday you will briefly get the full screenshot (which you will get few points for) and then the round is over!

I suggest you use the remaining days of the month to join in - so far there's 86 players. :)

As per usual I forgot to return and answer things. I did yesterday and believe I answered all of them but the points value will sure be low for the last six or seven I answered.

Now that was certainly something! Every three days a larger picture... many liked that, but also some were not as happy. In the end a total of 88 people were playing, that's not too bad.

October Quiz - Gaming Celebrities

Sometimes there are big names in a video game - be it the designer, a la "Joe Average presents Action Fight 2" or the protagonist, for example "Action Fight 2 starring Joe Average". That's the titles this round is about, those that have a famous developer, a sports star or a pop starlet to boost their chance of success. Do you know them all? :)

For the correct name of the game you get one point.
Should you not know it, you can still get half a point for the name of the designer (if it's in the title) or the protagonist.

Deadline is Saturday the 31st of October, participate via October Quiz - Celebrity Games 🤩

Here is the quiz, have fun!

October Quiz - Clues #1

The red carpet is out, spotlights are on, photographers are ready... the stars and starlets of this round are waiting to be recognised by all of you! Will you join the 45 users (none from here) that are already in the crowd? :)

For the correct name of the game you get one point. Should you not know it there's still half a point in the name of the "star".

Here are the clues:

1) Number four is a strategy classic, where you have to lead your tribe from the stone age into the far future.
2) The stars of the titles 1,6,7,8,15,19 and 21 are athletes.
3) The third row doesn't show anything ingame, instead they're all covers.
4) The celebs of the 10 and 20 are novelists.

Deadline is Saturday the 31st of October, participate via October Quiz - Celebrity Games 🤩

Here is the quiz again, you can do this!

I just spent about 30 minutes looking for a game for one of the images because I was absolutely certain it was from a thing I knew, but just hadn't seen a game version of. Gave up, only to accidentally find it 10 minutes later and it's not from the thing I thought it was at all.

Hello,

Just submitted my answers. Also my first time entering the Monthly Quiz. Pls give bonus points, thx. :blobmorning2:
The hints were certainly helpful!

I have no idea what numbers 10, 21. 23, 24 & 25 are though so I've left that empty, and 19 is a guess based on a previous answer.

Hey Valdien, welcome to the quiz. :)
Just checked, I see you entered the celebrity names, but not the game titles. That only gets you half a point for each entry - if you instead enter the name of the game, you get a full point.

You can update your entries whenever you want by just submitting another time.

October Quiz - Clues #2

All the stars of this round have assembled, and it turns out one is really famous, 9 out of 10 users know right away who it is... and another one unfortunately has it the other way around. This fits perfectly, as those two celebrities come from the first and last entry in this quiz. ;)

So far there are 62 users attending (three from here), maybe some more of you want to join? The quiz ends in one week!

Here are the last clues:

1) Number 5 is a famous youtuber (active for over 15 years) with millions of subscribers.
2) The celebrities shown in the games 2,9,11,14,22 and 23 are musicians.
3) Game 10 is a modern 3rd person shooter, there's also a sequel.
4) With title 15 we have a first person shooter for ps2, xbox, GBA and the DS.

Deadline is Saturday the 31st of October, Participate via October Quiz - Celebrity Games 🤩

This is the first month I spent some significant time on looking up stuff and I feel pretty good about it. :blobmorning2:
But man, it's also a bummer that I just can't place that one screen at all and all attempts at creative googling turned up nothing useful at all. :thinking-blob:

Very curious to see the results and the correct answers. :heroblob:

There are two video games starring the german politician Gregor Gysi (he is even speaking himself!). The older "Raumschiff Bonn" with pixel graphics and the newer "Galaxis Futura" with higher resolution rendered backgrounds. Angela Merkel appears in the latter one, but she's not the protagonist.
solved by: 13%
other suggestions: 20x Angela Merkel, Edna bricht aus, Jim Carey, The Wacky World of Miniature Golf with Eugene Levy, Xplora1: Peter Gabriel's Secret World

Damn, I really had almost zero chances on getting that #25. :grinning-face-with-smiling-eyes:

The one that I mentioned earlier about looking for a specific thing and later accidentally finding the correct one was the Clive Barker game. The screenshot looks a lot like Angel and the Vampire Master from Buffy, and I see that someone else thought the same.

Yes, you and fedprod from the Multimediaxis community.
He posted about it too - at first I didn't get what he was on about, but now I see it as well. :D

Here's the full screenshot of that scene (you have to mash the mouse/joystick button to run faster... just like Resident Evil ;)):

I expected about 21. Didn't know what games 21, 24 & 10 were. And wasn't too sure about number 19.

Anyway, looking forward to the next quiz!

That went pretty much as I expected. Didn't know anything from the last row and spent forever looking for that Tony Hawk looking motherfucker but I never managed to pinpoint where he was from. :disapproval-blob:

At least a fellow countryman won this round in here.

November Quiz - Five Themes

Huh, what's this? One topic alone is not good enough anymore?! Years ago there was a "Multi Theme" riddle, and this is the sequel.

The catch is that each of the 25 screenshots belongs to a theme. There are 5 themes with 5 pictures each.

For the name of a theme you get half a point. And if you gather all five images of a theme without a mistake, you get another half point. So a maximum of 5 bonus points in addition to the usual 25!

This was the first quiz of this kind (link) and the themes were as follows:

Cows (7,10,17,19,24), Jetpacks (9,11,14,20,21), Poop (1,2,4,6,16), Rainbows (3,5,15,18,25) and Robots on wheels (8,12,13,22,23).

This time the rules are the same... but the themes are more difficult than in the example. :p

Good luck!

Deadline is Monday the 30th November, participate via November Quiz - five different themes

Here is the quiz, have fun:

November Quiz - Clues #1

25 points for 25 correct names... and this time an additional five points for all of you that can figure out the five themes hidden in this round.
That's quite exciting, and now that the month is half over we have 26 people in the game. There can definitely be more - so when are YOU joining? :p

Watch out, this time I am more strict with the game titles. So if you don't enter the right part of a series or franchise, you'll only get half a point!

Here are the first clues:

1) Game 5 is a LEGO title.
2) The entries 6, 14 and 24 were not released on stationary devices.
3) Number 8 is the newest game in this round.
4) Image #10 is not ingame, but shows a part of the cover.

Deadline is Monday the 30th November, participate via November Quiz - five different themes

November Quiz - Clues #2

This round has seen only sparse contribution, so far 35 people have joined - one of which from this community. Mmmh, I wonder why? Well, maybe some more will come now that there's a new set of clues!

Here are four more clues:

1) Game 20 is the software version of a board game.
2) You are playing a god in number 16.
3) Title 9 is a german Action RPG.
4) The games that belong to a theme are never directly after each other, there is always a gap of at least one game.

Deadline is Monday the 30th November, participate via November Quiz - five different themes

Here is the quiz again, good luck. :)

November Quiz - Clues #3

Don't forget - we are not only having the beginning of Christmas season right now, but also the last weekend of the November quiz... Monday it's all over, and so far there are exactly two users from this forum among the 56 overall players.
I hope this final clue post will remind and/or motivate you to still join the game. :)

So then, here are the final clues:

1) Number 3 is a realtime strategy game.
2) 25 players have gotten game 8 right, but 31 players have gotten it only half-right. Watch out!
3) Titles 2 and 5 are loosely based on books.
4) Picture 7 shows you the insides of a hospital.

Deadline is the coming Monday (30th November), participate via November Quiz - five different themes

Here is the quiz one last time, now get going!

November Quiz - Answers & High Score

Alright, we managed to get to a crowd of 85, that's quite good. :) Four of you were even able to get the themes as well as the games completely correct, good job!

Let's start with the themes, followed by the games, then the pictures and at the bottom you'll find the High Score.

THEME 1 - Super Mario - 1 4 8 12 14
Almost everyone has gotten the plumber. This theme was easy thanks to the prominent character.
solved by: 95%

THEME 2 - Orcs
- 3 5 9 20 23
Orcs are such a standard enemy for video games. They might look a bit different each time, but this theme was still quite easy for you.
solved by: 92%

THEME 3 - Christmas
- 2 6 13 18 21
Now it gets more abstract. Here you had to connect the Grinch and Jack Skellington with Christmas, even without visual cues like red/white clothes or the "Die Hard" Christmas tree.
solved by: 88%

THEME 4 - Angels
- 11 15 17 19 25
This one was tricky. While three pictures where still easy to spot as angels, number 15 shows a monster that you can only classify as "Angel" if you know the anime it is based on. Then there's the lady on picture 17, who is named Angel. Respect if you got this right!
solved by: 60%

THEME 5 - Peter Molyneux
- 7 10 16 22 24
These five games are connected only by the star game designer Peter Molyneux. A quarter of you got this right - more than I had expected. Some correctly stated the five titles but weren't able to name the connection, this still got them half a point.
solved by: 25%

Positions:

- - - GAMES - - -

1) Super Mario Bros 3

Half points for other Mario Games, with the exception of Mario Maker (clever).
solved by: 84%
other suggestions: -

2) The Grinch
Nobody got a half point here, and thus the Grinch (Dreamcast Version) is the easiest game of this round.
solved by: 94%
other suggestions: -

3) Warcraft 3
solved by: 82%
other suggestions: World of Warcraft, Ogre

4) Super Mario RPG
solved by: 87%
other suggestions: -

5) Lego the Hobbit
Not the Lord of the Rings (half point), but instead the Hobbit. A bit mean. ;)
solved by: 68%
other suggestions: Lego warcraft 3

6) Nightmare before Christmas
solved by: 76%
other suggestions: Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, Beetlejuice

7) Theme Hospital
solved by: 65%
other suggestions: Sim Hospital, Invisible Man, Die Sims, A Christmas Caroll

8.) Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit
This is NOT Super Mario Kart 8 (not deluxe either!), plenty of half points here.
solved by: 74%
other suggestions: -

9) Gothic
The very first Gothic, still very blocky.
solved by: 61%
other suggestions: World Of Warcraft, Goblin Commander: Unleash The Horde

10) Fable
The cover of the first entry of the Fable series.
solved by: 86%
other suggestions: Dragon Quest

11) ActRaiser
solved by: 49%
other suggestions: Wonder Boy, Popolous, Kirbys Adventure, Kid Icarus, Final Fantasy

12) Mario is Missing
Half points for other Mario titles.
solved by: 65%
other suggestions: -

13) Christmas Lemmings
solved by: 59%
other suggestions: The Snowman

14) Super Princess Peach
A platformer where you control the princess. Our favourite italian is on the picture, so this title belongs to the Mario theme... but it's not a Mario GAME, so no half points for other plumber titles!
solved by: 66%
other suggestions: Mario, Super Mario, CD-i Mario, Paper Mario, Mario Teaches Typing, Mario Party DS, Mario is missing, Mario and Luigi Partners in Time, mario and luigi bowser's inside story, Mario & Luigi: Abenteuer Bowser

15) Neon Genesis Evangelion
License game to the anime series for the N64. Fight strange Monsters called "Angels" in your Mecha - picture shows the first of the invaders.
solved by: 40%
other suggestions: Virtua On, santa clause jr. advance, Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance, Kid Icarus Uprising, Digimon

16) Black & White 2
That's the evil part of your conscience from the 2nd Black & White, much more detailed than in the first part.
solved by: 56%
other suggestions: Spore, Litil Divil, God of War 3, Dungeon Keeper

17) Wing Commander
This is your love interest in Wing Commander. Her name? Angel. :)
solved by: 51%
other suggestions: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

18.) Daze before Christmas
A very christmasy platformer for the Sega Genesis.
solved by: 49%
other suggestions: Weihnachten, Santa Claus, James Pond 2: Codename: RoboCod, Crazy Santa adventures

19) Messiah
If you're not possessing some random humans, you are flying around as a little angel.
solved by: 69%
other suggestions: Bayonetta

20) Hero Quest
solved by: 48%
other suggestions: Warcraft Adventure, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Labyrinth, Dungeons and Dragons

21) Die Hard
A somewhat different Christmas movie.
solved by: 44%
other suggestions: True Lies, Christmas IK+

22) Magic Carpet
solved by: 29%
other suggestions: prince of persia 1&2, Populous, Kid Icarus, Aladdin

23) Orcs must die 2
got mixed up again - now all parts of the series give the full point.
solved by: 54%
other suggestions: World of Warcraft, some orc game!

24) Curiosity – what’s inside the cube
Experimental team game by Peter Molyneux, hardest title of this round.
solved by: 20%
other suggestions: Sphere Tale, Pyramids of Ra, Puzzle Scape, Pink Blocks, Picross 3D, Overcooked!, Marble Madness

25) Chubby Cherub
An old NES game - save your friends as a little chubby angel.
solved by: 44%
other suggestions: Kid Icarus

Didn't know 4 of the games from the list and got the Peter Molyneux theme wrong. Never crossed my mind that some of these games had a connection to the same dev, though.

Anyway, onto the next one!

Could you swap me over to Metacouncil at least for your overall records? I haven't gone to ResetEra in like 1.5 years so I must have accidentally clicked it due to the old habit from when I was originally doing these.
