i wouldnt hesitate to replace that with 'anywhere else', really. There are very few places i wouldnt buy an EA game before EGS, and most of them are due to the legality of grey market distributors
Hopefully gog moves on to having more than just EGS in their multi-store store section, and i feel that is their eventual goal. they obviously just plan to launch the feature with the current poison pill store.

Really peeps? Disapprovals for a free, fun and seasonal game? If you want Epic to suffer, start rooting for apple bc so far the minor pc gaming boycott of the EGS hasn't deterred them yet.
I don't have any problems with free. I even buy games on Steam I get for free on Epic because I find many of Steams features necessary for me. 
Like, I recently played a bit of Barony and Wilmots Warehouse that I got from Epic for free, I liked them a lot, so I plan on getting them during a Steam sale.

People are not boycotting EGS to "destroy" it, or because another launcher came to fruition. People are boycotting EGS because they don't like third party exclusivity, don't like the childish "for the greater good" rhetoric and don't like the toxic, anti PC gamer attitude surrounding EGS.
The goal was always to boycott EGS to proof that third party exclusivity = leaving behind a lot of money. That's all that needs to be shown, and we succeeded in that regard multiple times now.

Meanwhile EGS will continue to exist and publishers will keep getting bribes. But EGS will not be able to pay for forever. One day the number of exclusives will start vanishing, the quality will start going down and once that occurs things will go back to normal, multi store publishing. Because going egsclusive = loosing sales.
Personally, I don't even own an EGS account anymore. Deleted it out of protest when the first 10€ coupon sale happened. Posting a screen of my account deletion even got me a ban on another side. I don't buy from EGS, I don't get their free shit.
But other people do, and I couldn't care less about that. Enough people are pointing their middle fingers towards EGS together with me.
The problem is with the fact it earns them accounts, which are then used to close exclusivity deals.
Also, "minor pc gaming boycott" seems a little different from my perception of complete and utter rejection of the EGS by the vast majority of the PC market and the severe tarnishing of the image of any studio and game signing with them.
EGS has failed in buying their way into a monopoly and they are a minor store in the current landscape, that's what their financial report confirm. They have no value to offer customer other than giving their products away in the hope that this will lead studios to sign exclusivity deals with them on account of a user base that is there for free games.
Others could put it better than me but the point I'm making is that taking these free games is all well and good, but it does help Epic with their goals of pushing exclusivity as a normalized practice on PC.
According to Tim, exclustivity is no longer a requirement to get on the store. (Of course he is as trustworthy as I could throw him). I've noticed more concurrent Steam/EGS launches lately. Just in the past week Raji: An Ancient Epic and The Jackbox Party Pack 7 launched simultaneously on both platforms. That's not to say Epic won't ever sign exclusives again, but I don't think things will be as bad as 2019 when they were nabbing games left and right.

Another observation is that the devs/pubs that releases games on both stores at the same time doesn't really seem to give a shit about the EGS version when they advertise for their games.

Satisfactory sold more on Steam in one week than it sold on EGS in 4 months. Metro Exodus is estimated at 1 million owners on Steam. That's a big "minority"
EGS is basically steam greenlight externalized for quite a few games it seems. Test the waters with early access/unfinished versions and then release the finished/patched version to Steam
Exclusivity was technically never a requirement to get on the EGS, it was just a matter of whether or not Epic thought the game would pull enough attention away from Steam to justify putting it on their store (because they have a bizarre manual process for every game they put up, seemingly never having heard of a database.) Games like Darq, Skatebird, Assault Android Cactus, etc. weren’t well-known enough (or were too old, in AAC’s case) to generate any sales on EGS unless that was the only place to buy them, so their slots went to whoever else.
Of course, logically, one of those slots had to go to Shenmue 3, so uh, good buy there Timmy.
Yeah they’ve been more open for a while now. But it still couldnt get them Baldur’s Gate, Phasmophobia, Fall Guys or Among Us though
With Baldur's Gate, I expect the early access nature of the game makes it difficult to ship on more than one platform during that phase. There are certain Early Access games that are only EA to take Epic's money and wind down the clock on exclusivity, with the developer clear on the artistic vision and not really taking much customer feedback on board (a perfectly fine way to do it, but not really in the spirit of EA). And then there are Early Access games where the developer is keenly interested in building the game with the community's feedback, to the point where the developer is jokingly lamenting selling a gazillion copies due to the flood of useful and not-so-useful feedback they'll inevitably get, which is what Baldur's Gate 3 is.
As for the other three... multiplayer games require infrastructure, and when you're shipping on multiple stores you need multiplatform infrastructure. Why go to the effort of doing all of that to release on a store that will sell only a handful of copies? Epic needs to pay for that shit or it isn't worth doing.
I feel like the level of work required to facilitate a multi-store release determines whether developers release on EGS sans moneyhats. I think if you're making a single player only game, it kind of makes sense to release on EGS as well as Steam because the work required to get that in place is not as much as getting cross-platform multiplayer infrastructure in place. And I think having more cross-store releases, with Epic, GOG and Steam having to compete for their customers by other means (platform/social features, DRM-free philosophy, coupons and so on) is more healthier for the platform and lets developers branch out.
But the long and short is Epic won't be getting many multiplayer cross-store releases until they've proven games sell on their platform without exclusivity.

Ok. I'm a 'good games over all' type of gamer. I play the games where they are as opposed to the platform. Probably a mismatch of forum and user to a small extent, as they board was created in part as a protest of EGS. I go where the games are and don't get so defensive about PC gaming. Part of this has to do with my day job, as my PC isn't one of my truly prized possessions, its just a thing like the hundreds I take care of and work with in my day job.
Steam isn't our friend either, btw.

Is that a case of PC gamers actively avoiding EGS or just a lack of adoption, a difficult to use store and steam being the 'default' storefront for a lot of PC gamers? This forum's users actively and loudly avoid EGS and that was what I mean by minority. Most PC gamers have more important things to consider before their purchases.

Fm 2021 seems to be pushing Epic over steam, via twitter and if you buy a key from their own website the page it mentions steam then epic but if you hit pre-order the default choice is epic. If you are not careful and select steam yourself, most people aren't, they are going to end up with an Epic key and the devs with a lot of refunds.
First Timmy tried to force people to his store, next he bribed them, now he's trying to trick them. I assume begging is next.

Price I can get as coupons are a good incentive for Epic, but I don't understand what you mean with availability.
I was speaking of the paying customer, if you already have an EGS account, there is little downside to taking those free games.
They are failing because people aren't buying. However, the point was of their ability to close exclusivity deal, thus normalizing the practice little by little.
The fact that people are boycotting and holding out is a boon, but I'd rather not push our luck. The practice must end, thus I will keep on making aware the people creating accounts for the free games that, while free to do so, they are probably contributing to the exclusivity practice living on.
I don't mean to nag you but that's the reality behind those free games. You are the product.

)We are the product EVERYWHERE. I know many users are not from America but in America, we have essentially zero protections regarding internet privacy and the sale or our browsing habits (and far more) to advertisers.
None of Ubisofts games are actually using Epic's launcher. EGS is just selling uPlay keys.

Steam and I are having a good business relationship. Even better, I'm constantly cheating and taking advantage of steam by buying cheap keys from third party sites and just redeeming them, while getting the full service. Or I'm using the family share feature or buy a game to try it out and then give it back.
I'd be crazy to let all that go and help to build a future where EGS dominates the PC market, sets prices in stone and doesn't let me buy games for cheap, on release!
A couple of free games and caving into third party exclusivity will harm my easy PC gaming life. In my book EGS is the Stanford Marshmallow Test in gaming form.
Free Games and buying third party exclusives = immediate reward, but you are actively building for a worse PC market future.
