I recently interviewed Dead or Alive 6 Director and Producer Yohei Shimbori, Art Director and Scenario Writer Yutaka Saito, and Technical Expert Taku Sugawara at Team Ninja's headquarters in Tokyo.

This is just the first part since it was over two hours, and there's a ton of info :D

DEAD OR ALIVE 6 Interview Part 1 -- Developers Talk Latest Reveals, the New Heroine, and Much More

Thought it'd be interesting to post because I think this is the first time someone other than Shimbori-san gets interviewed about the game :D

Sugawara-san will actually feature mostly in part 2 next week since it's going to be a deep dive into the new engine, which incidentally KT is gonna use for other games as well.

Dead or Alive is my thing. I much prefer the fighting style it uses since it feels more fluid than Tekken or Mortal Kombat series.
I've enjoyed the series as well, not in small part because my man Ryu Hayabusa is featured. Also it was one of the first 3d fighters to really embrace stage transitions. Good read tho OP, makes me a little itchy to give it a go because its been quite a while.

Yea I was very impressed by DOA 2 on PS2 I think it was. You could easily learn the way the character was meant to be used yet you could get better than the basics would let you by learning combos, counters and grabs. The way Tekken plays it's so heavily combo based that my old mind reels trying to remember how any of the characters play.
