You seem to be judging all cryptos based on what Bitcoin is doing. As you see EOS is 70.000 times more energy efficient than Bitcoin so you can’t just put them all in the same category even if energy usage goes up over time. Bitcoin is not anonymous and I agree that’s a significant problem. But Monero, as far as I’m aware, really is completely untrackable, even though that does come with its own set of problems.
What does it matter if it 's more energy efficient, if we know it will rise over time and there's no sensible reason why it's wasting energy in the first place? The only "advantage" that Etheruum has is that far less coins have ever been mined because it's far less popular.

My problem is the "proof of work" system, which is inherently inefficient and stupid.

You don't lack imagination that's for sure.

The best any PC gamer can hope for right now is for Sony to keep releasing their old PS4 exclusives on Steam. I'm still not convinced they plan on releasing nearly 7 games on PC (as per Queen's list) unless they intend on going full PC this year.

Apparently Switch is the biggest console right now in China and per citizen it has only sold 1%.

I bought both the starter edition and Shadowbringers on sale separately a year ago. Keep in my mind if you create the account on Steam, you'll have to buy the next expansion there.
What I suggest with FFXIV now is to go with free trial, it consists in about 200 hours of gameplpay with no day/month limit (you can reach lvl 60 which will take at least 100 hours I think). Paying the monthly fee from day1 is kinda pointless right now
Gotcha, thanks. I still have to give it some time to think about it as I know MMOs are huge time sinks.

Then the path forward is clear enough : Sony should capitalize on the chinese PC market by releasing their back catalogue on Steam.
Trust me, we are going to see crazy stories from China when it comes to Steam releases, like, CRAZY CRAZY, not talking about Sony or any other company in particular, it's brutal how quick their things go viral (please no jokes about this, thanks) and the positive reception they get.

Dyson Sphere, Tale of Immortal, Fireworks, Warhammer 3....

For MS releasing on Steam was also a no-brainer. Steam isn't just a platform people want and like to use, Steam has an enormous reach and userbase, so when MS is releasing their games on Steam, their are reaching markets and audiences Xbox consoles doesn't really exist in.

If Sony wants to enter China, the best way to do it is to go in on PC/Steam.

I don't disagree with that really. The question right now is just how many PC ports from Sony we will actually get in 2021. Queen thinks she knows that God of War is coming to PC this year & Bloodborne will presumably release this year as well.
I wonder if this is the end of it for this year or if some....surprises await.

Isn't Tencent's launcher much more popular in China than Steam? 🤔
Well, we don't have specific data with too many examples but it really is, like, A TON (MHW was 8/2 for WeGame against Steam before banning it) and so far it seems that Dyson Sphere Program could represente a 50/50 or even a 60/40 for WeGame/Steam.

Again, not too many examples we have available, unfortunately.

might be ... but i believe they take a 50% cut
This is correct.

I like how I scheduled my backlog and new releases for the next few months knowing how easily an eventual Bloodborne PC release would crush them

Mor and/or madjoki can correct me on that

I think it's 0% for first million and 80% after that nowdays.

New hobby shared with InnateRhythm : spot silly names in Apex Legends.
There's been some that have been surprisingly funny and/or clever. It also makes me a little jealous at times.. it took me so long to come up with my original username, then Latent and now Innate.

..An embarrassingly long amount of time. :crying-face:

And I might change it again because I kind of want something that flows a little better.

That's so messed. One account, 100s of different services connected to one account. Do something wrong (according to Google, will lead to ban to all 100 services :(
And also the non-existent customer support :(

The Andrew Spinks thing is pushing me to rethink my setup in order to avoid this kind of shit. But I'm lazy :confounded-face:
I'm not too invested in Google fortunately, but I suppose I could use my ISP email address for one thing. And keep my Google Drive backup.

The real headache will be if I ever get a smartphone, difficult to avoid Google when you don't print money.

What alternatives are there anyway when buying a new smarthphone? Apple is most probably same, one account - 100s of different services :(

That's my point, unfortunately. The only thing you can do is mix the services you use as much as possible, but on mobile the options are extremely limited.
...
Thinking about it, one more option is to have different email addresses for some services. But that requires planning. I don't do plans :thinking-blob:

Has anyone here suffered from the scalping problem this year with consoles and PC hardware? If so, who do you think is the culprit? The scalpers themselves or the capitalist system we live in?
mix of scalperd and Nvidia's priorities not alligning with the mainstream consummers. To be fair since Covid has started its been a mess on much more than just hardware, by changing of ISP I had to wait more than one month to get a router / player
