Got around to rewatching some of the trailers from this past weekend. This time in 4k in all their glory.

And I gotta say.

STALKER 2 is by far and I mean by far n away the most impressive trailer across the board. The visuals and animations are so good. I would say 4-5x more impressed with it than Forbidden West, Halo, Forza 5 etc. This looks to be that game that will get me to hunt down a new GPU next year lol.

Its really incredible to see GSC do something like this again. They are promising seamless open world too based on the descriptions with non linear story. If they can get some great side missions with good story bits this could be an all timer. Like the dream STALKER + METRO experience. I hope they nail it and glad it didn't go EGS exclusive. It felt like it might have with how they announced the engine use last year.

I can't wait for it. Sure Elex has it's issues, looking at you skill points system that was just gatekeeping kit grrrr, but i enjoyed exploring, running from things, the factions, running from things, cheesing big beasties with my bow and then running from things. lol. I'm up for some Elex 2.

There again i found enjoyment in the Pirate themed Risen games and also Raven's Cry especially when the bug-fix Vendetta release came out so people can probably ignore me as i have dreadful taste and i'm a sucker for golden age pirate games :D

So Todd saying Starfield is like a "Han Solo simulator" and "Skyrim in Space"

and then they tease concept art like this...

Fucking hell it looks incredible. I wonder if they really can give Star Citizen a run for its money lol. They definitely have talent/experience to pull it off but I don't think they have the resources. Either way they should take their sweet time. Can't wait for the big blowout next year and it should be in front of a live audience too. I'm surprised they even teased anything yesterday because its gonna such a long wait now. Microsoft probably forced their hand since the big acquisition and they wanted some type of updates from them.
Any "never have we made something so awesome" game is automatically in the "wait for release +1 year" category for me.
Don't get Cyberpunked.

I look forward to Elex II, couldn't get into the first one. Still, that trailer is saved by its animation.

I loved Elex, but that in spite of its combat... however the rest of the gameplay had a lot to like, especially interconnected quests with multiple ways to resolve and affecting the others in major ways.

But it had fun exploration and plenty of interesting stuff at least, I didn't enjoy Risen so much because it was just... nothing. Like two different ennemies, no level design to speak of, the first game was just empty.
Later games got kinda lost in what they wanted to be and didn't improve much the bigger mistakes...

Silksong won't be at E3, but who knows, maybe Team Cherry don't view the direct as part of E3.

Switch packaged and ready for transit. Feels bad, and I bet that, even if I want to buy a Pro, Nintendo will either...

Not announce it today

My 1080 Ti finally shows up on spec list. Ouch.

Anyway, not going to get a new GPU anytime soon as mine can still handle over 99% of games out there. So STALKER 2 can wait.
Sure ! I'm not even that interested as I never played any Stalker until the end. I'm more worried by the fact that this classical sign that you should ponder an upgrade is happening now, when no fucking CPU/GPU are available.

It's funny seeing people complain about the recommended specs.
I feel like devs are at a lose/lose scenario sometimes.

Don't make the game "next gen enough" and people complain.
Then some do, and just get complaints about the hardware to run it. Without even using their brains and realizing you can you know, turn settings down.

I'm personally very aware that req specs are not some iron rule and again don't give a fuck about Stalker 2.
You will allow me to be a little on edge about the prospect of an update in the coming months, though :sweaty-blob:

Unfortunately it will happen sooner or later. We will see more of these down the road. Next gen is here and AAA software developers ain't stop working on things that require good hardware even though they are hard to come by.

In addition, people can always get a console. They are easier and less costly to acquire than PC parts.

Yeah, I'm not averse to consoles. It is even sometimes seen as a logical purchase at the beginning of a gen. But it's the catch 22 from hell in this brave new world.

PC is OOS, let's not even acknowledge the price scalpers must ask for parts.
Console at MSRP are super hard to get, still doable I guess, but then you take 70-80 bucks games in the face.

We have a saying in French : 'Between plague and cholera...'

Edit
Now if one would want to stay positive, let's take into consideration that Stalker is seemingly one of the show stoppers of E3 and the req specs are not that insane. Could be far worse.

Series X is readily available at MSRP at local stores here. On the other hand, PS5 is harder to come by but it's possible. I guess the situation is not comparable in Europe and US. :disappointed-face:

Anyway, yeah, the game and Horizon 5 are the best looking games in this E3. Both are reaching photo-realistic level in my eyes. I am pretty excited to see some PC benchmarks once they are out.

In France the situation is maybe just a little bit better for the Series X. A bit. And I would say it's more a matter of people being less interested and the timetable to buy one should be longer than for a PS.
Meaning, in reality, I saw no difference in availability between the two.

Now, the Series S, a kit that I greatly respect but have no interest for, is everywhere.

Horizon 5 was incredible, yeah.

Yeah, I don't meet those next-gen requirements. Frick, can this GPU shortage end? At least my Ryzen 2700x should be good enough for now...
I have to wonder if the Low Hashrate stuff in the newest Nvidia cards will have any kind of impact. I'd imagine it would gradually alleviate the scalping situation as people who want these cards to mine realize they won't be worth the markups on ebay. Right?
