Thanks prudis for tagging me with this.

This is from the latest Famitsu interview to Naoto Hiraoka from Atlus, this particular section of the interview is REALLY INTERESTING as he directly acknowledges Steam as a growing platform that has proven itself with P4G, it's really interesting because, and I might be reading too much into this, it pretty much says expect more ports in the future.

Do you read it in the same way? HYPE?!?

Rad. Now do Persona 3 with the controllable cast and extra content of of P3P combined with the 3D environments of P3 (FES).

Anno is the only Ubi game i'd miss and even that im kind of done with i think, 1404 and 1800 are very re-playable. I like Far cry but only ever picked them up in sales for about £15 so not too bothered by them and after 5 games i dont really care about more of the same. Dito for Ass Creed, peaked with 1-3, sort of played Black Flag a bit but was burnt out and haven't bothered with one since (thats a lie, i had Origins which has put me totally off the series due to the grindy level bollocks).

Thats (one of) Ubis problems for me, all their games seem to be either stuff ive already played a million times or stuff im totally not interested in.
Not to mention all the top level abuse stuff and general shit industry practices.

I probably still have a soft spot for Ubisoft games because sometimes I just need a mindless checklist open-world game. And I still care about Assassin’s Creed for some reason. Fenyx Rising was neat from the demo, too. In some ways Ubisoft games are like the fast food you get when you are drunk 2 AM in the morning.
But I'll probably only will get their games pre-owned for consoles

Anyway, I played a bit of Death's Door yesterday. Level design is neat, artstyle I like, combat system is alright. The healing system is also interesting but there are instances where I wished I would like to have something like the Estus Flasks. While I died a few times because I tried to rush through things I haven’t found it incredibly hard. Which is good because isometric souls-combat sounds cool but then you notice that this style relies on animations. And from an iso perspective it can sometimes be hard to see.

Just before the boss of the first dungeon now. Hope this finally gives me an upgrade because playing 90 minutes or so without anything leaves me wanting. Also hope the points for character progression come faster at some point.

Otherwise I can see myself having a good time with this. Love me a playable birb.

Humble likes to spam my inbox with fake offers: only available to Premium subscribers, and I have the Classic plan. "No joke!"

The top offer was received today (on July 21), and the bottom one last week (on July 14).
I FELL WITH THIS, FFS, ONLY PREMIUM? LAST TIME I TRUST THEM.

I honestly can't say that Ubisoft has released a single game since their departure from Steam (or even earlier really) where I thought "damn I really want to play that".
Same here except for Mario + Rabbids, but that's not on Steam so... yeah. I prefer Ubisoft's older games such as Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, some of the Rayman games, etc.

Why do i have a feeling that many, many pubishers will be announcing a drop in earnings once people start going back to work and other entertainment venues open up? I think "Wow, what a surprise., Who would have expected that?" is going to be my mental reply to a ton of articles in the next few months.

I have to say, I knew Ubi was abusing the hell out of government budgets for entertainment and research to a degree. I still wasn't expecting the magnitude of clusterfuck that Skull and Bones is turning out to be. Very disappointed in them, which in a way surprises me. I guess I didn't expect them to stoop this low.

I wouldn't mind this if they went back to the gameplay of something like the old games. Can't remember which one it was: Pro Evo 2? 3? Final Evolution? Those kinds of games had great football/soccer gameplay. With that and decent visuals, I'd be interested.

This is me pretty much as well.

Though I might eventually also try that Wildlands sequel.

This time, we now -also- have an FSR patch set (AMD Fidelity Super Resolution) which works alongside proton's fullscreen hack.

Proton's fullscreeen hack is a modification to proton which allows displaying smaller or non-standard resolutions within your monitor's default resolution without changing it. Essentially it's capable of doing what FSR does -- scaling up smaller resolutions. However now that FSR has been released, that hack has been retro-fitted using FSR for it's upscaling backend. Meaning yes -- FSR can be used on almost any game running in proton.

There are a few limitations, for example some games which already have FSR or other scaling implementation may not work. So the way this works is -- the FSR resolutions are patched in alongside FSR for the upscaling backend. Since the fullscreen hack already attempts to upscale, all you have to do is set the game's resolution to a lower resolution, preferably one of the FSR resolutions

The customization seems to be limited. It seems that you only can customize the face so far. I haven't found anywhere where you can customize the body. I haven't explored much with the customization as I wanted to try the actual gameplay (I mean it!). The game seems to be a souls-like game. I haven't played Dark Souls, so I am not sure if it's really a souls-like game. But you can dodge/roll enemy attacks

Death's Door is pretty good so far but im having controller issues. My Dualsense doesn't work via bluetooth which is annoying. Looks like a lot of people on the forum (aren't they useful!) are having issues with controllers. Took me a while to realise that it works plugged in so at least i can use it but man, going back to wires after wireless is a pain. Also the ports in these controllers always seem to be a bit shit so if i move slightly the controller disconnects and re-connects. Not what you want in a Souls like game.

Game is good though.

Up until 2017 Valve was going to make their own Steam machine (Steam box) and going to use it with Index but it didn't work as well as they had hopped? Cost maybe would have been $600-800 maybe even more?

Then the N/S came out and that did well and it's possible that they saw people say "that would be perfect for N/S" and I mean if the only reason that you buy on N/S and not on PC is because of portability then this solves that. Will this "kill" the N/S?

No but it may in the end, end up "stealing" sales from software side of things. Nintendo will still sell millions of units but I do think software sales may take a big hit for them if this does take off for third party titles.

Kinda late to the ubi talk, damn moving houses is exausting..., but what have they released since going away from Steam? 2x Far Cry, 2x AssCreed and 2x Watch Puppies right? Those aren't really franchises I care about.
Although it's sad they have so many good franchises stuck in whatever hell they are right now that I'm doubtful we'll ever see them again... I really wish they'd show some love to Rayman, Splinter cell, Settlers.

If they ever return to Steam they better bring Settlers 2 with them they'll remain dead to me.

Immortals Fenyx Rising would probably be the only Ubi game I would play on the Deck. Especially if they really returned to Steam and fined tuned the game for Deck with effort n all. Its a BotW clone afterall so I can see myself having a fun time with it.

But yea that is probably it. I will most likely replay some old Splinter Cell games in the future and maybe Grow Up/Home. Everything they've done in the past 3 years is uninteresting. Maybe if/when Beyond Good & Evil 2 comes and has good reviews I will try it out. They really need a new direction as a game dev. Maybe even embrace some new engine tools because so many of their games just look like the same thing over n over.

Dunno, but it's not Denuvo that needas cracking it's the fact you missed the servers being taken down a few weeks ago.
Even people who own the Game & DLC are having issues playing the game and XML edits to bypass checks or add quest tags to NPCs are reported to not work anymore as Ubi patched the game recently so it gets moody when it detects it's files have been tampered with.

No idea about cracks as i haven't sailed the high-seas for decades now.

I'd say this is pretty above board for any corporation. Taking government money they don't need 'because they're providing X to the local community' ot 'didn't turn a profit in X year' isn't uncommon. This is the same company mired in several sexual harassments cases trying harder to put out that PR fire than change their company culture and power dynamics.

Ubisoft knows all about lows they just wish you'd ignore them and play open world collect-a-thon tom clancy's vallhalla rainbow dogs cry 6

I know that I'm super LTTP. And I'm pretty certain I own the game + DLC. I just supposed a crack would solve this server issue.

Honesty the only Ubisoft series I still care about is Far Cry, they come out rarely enough I haven't gotten burned out on them. Still if no more Far Cry games ever came out again I would just move on with my life and probably not think about the series again.
