Besides the lack of people, the forums suffer a bit from a certain "fractured" structure on the gaming section.
We basically have news topics, that people may read, a couple may reply, and then everyone just moves on.

Which is too bad, because the forums are quite well made, and the software used is the best I've seen so far, very practical and intuitive.

In order to retain some interest, I think we could attract more people with some sticky "community" topics, for frequent posting.
For example, topics for discussion of each of the platforms (PC, PS4, XboxOne, Switch), topics for certain niche genres (shmups, point and click adventure games, fighting games, digital pinball, ...), and a few utility topics (giveaways, buy and sell, ...).

Just some ideas. ;)

i don't know if that's such a good idea .... if we did that - the entire first page (maybe even more than that) would just be pinned threads :p we figured prefix filtering would be enough for people to be able to find community and OT threads .... we thought people would just click on a prefix in the thread list view to find other threads with the same prefix:

... or alternatively just use the filters on the right:

I just made a post on my Facebook wall for my friends to join MetaCouncil.

My concern is that the forum may not be accessible in all regions without VPN. :(

I feel like a lot of communities are moving to things like Discord. Not only can you have instant responses and on topic conversations but you can also divide the discord channel into sub categories if needed - not to mention voice/video chat and other easy integrated features. With people having short attention spans in general and wanting to intake information in small bite size pieces, I feel as though forums are going to become obsolete in the near future or extremely niche; Reddit being the exception if we are using a forum-esque comparable.

Those that are within' a community they have been a part of are hard pressed to leave it, due to a variety of factors; whether it be friends, or just a sense of comfort from having a community they understand and have similar views with. There is no easy way to market a niche gaming forum whose target audience is the 1% of the gaming community, especially since the majority are already entrenched within Reddit, Resetera, Gamespot, IGN, etc.

Thankfully I'm not a marketing director, because I legitimately do not how to effectively market a niche gaming forum. Other than through lucky exposure, for example, someone leaks or breaks news through this forum exclusively. That's the only way in this day in age to get effective new membership in my opinion.

Discord is a bit too chaotic for this type of communication we have here. I can lose the strand of conversation just by being absent for an hour or two and I might miss topics that were brought up meanwhile.
yeah, exactly .... discord is a chat, so basically - if you're not around at the time something is being talked about - there's pretty much no chance of you getting back to that bit of conversation if you log in a few hours later

it's always nice to have threads where you can actually go into each one and more or less catch up with what people were talking about, even a few days before.

Yeah I wouldn't worry about growth being fast. I think that in this forum case it's going to be a trickle from Era and Twitter that boosts the numbers not a real storming in.
oh, absolutely .... don't think anyone in here expects a flood of people .... as long as we have a few people who are regularly active - it should be fine (well, as long as they also donate from time to time, lol) .... although - it kinda sucks a bit that we have like 130 people in here and 80% of them never came back after registering ... ah well, what can you do

Thanks, but "back" from what? :D
I'm just less social nowadays: too much work, too much expecting a daughter, too much of a backlog to clean.
back from forum exile ... or something :p

either way - glad to see you again, man! :)
