I know it's a meme about cats having the fame of being cold and ignoring their humans, but I was surprised when we adopted our cat and it became very attached to us.
That's because they adopted you :>
In my experience, it depends on a few things. The type of cat, the type of human, and if they are house-only cats, can range outside, or are always outside.

I had a few different cats when growing up (sadly not anymore because I am living in a 1room apartment) and the "wild" outdoor cats who were living in the barn, were only friendly when you fed them.
We also had house cats who could go outside every day and they were always friendly and emotionally supporting but also had an independent streak were they didn't give a fuck what you want :>
And then there are house cats who never go outside. (or just have a garden/backyard with no way to independently go beyond that) The humans living with the cat are probably the only thing the cat ever sees and they imprint on that, they have probably no contact with other animals or cats and can't be influenced by them.

Before being adopted by us our cat lived with other ones for a short time with his temporary care taker, tough he had to be placed on other rooms as he was too meek and the other cats could hit him. Now he lives a happy life here :D

I am laughing my ass off, found this a few days ago, and don't know why this so funny.
(Dracula says "Dude, I can't speak English) Although the Dude translation doesn't really fit well for "Alter". You call someone Alter either in a casual pseudo macho way with friends, or as a dismissive or frustrated way with people you don't know about or don't care about (like an English dismissive "fuck-off" without any real heat behind it). Which is the example in the picture.
