Downunder.
Playing Ace Attorney on a big screen is such an enjoyable treat. SFX and music sound really crisp, too. I think I might splurge on the OST DLC as well.

I had a weird issue where the vibration function turned my Steam Controller off, for some reason. Not sure why this happens.

No PC verson of Tetris Effect in sight, correct? I caved, the PS4 retail version is on sale for 19,99€ on amazon.de.

just wanted to remind everyone that this year's GOTY is already out ... and it's free!

GO PLAY IT!!!

(you literally have no excuse ... it's like 40 minutes long!)
Oh free? I was ready to pay. Then it didn't release on the day it was supposed to so I removed it from wishlist. Thanks for the reminder.

Talking about Sony, I would really like to know how their backend is set up..
They have (or are) launching name changes today and the list of potential issues is wild.

Q: What kind of issues could I potentially run into?
Below are some of the issues you may encounter. We expect major issues to occur only in a small number of games.

  • Your previous Online ID may remain visible to you and other players in some areas.
  • You may lose progress within games, including game saved data, leaderboard data, and progress towards Trophies.
  • Parts of your game and applications may not function properly both online and offline.
  • You may lose access to content (including paid-for content) that you may have acquired for your games including content like add-ons and virtual currency.
Q: What should I do if I encounter an issue by changing my online ID?
If you experience any issues while playing a game that is not on the list of tested games, we recommend that you revert back to your previous online ID that did not have those issues. Reverting back should resolve most issues.
(Notice the should resolve most issues, lol).
And only the first change is free, further name changes cost 9.99$. Apparently it also costs something on the Xbox side as well?

Stuff like that seriously boggles my mind when you compare it the no-nonsense, no-questions-asked, no-limit (or does it have limits?) approach Steam has.

I caved and bought Death Mark (32% off on GMG VIP). I probably won't be getting around to it for a while (Sekiro NG+ Charmless, plus OFDP2 and Forager launching in a week) but I felt like supporting the devs for not censoring it. Plus I'm a big fan of Experience Inc.'s former works, even if this one isn't exactly the same kind of thing.

RE the Sony Name Change thingy, i imagine that some games have been coded with your ID stored as a string rather than a big unique number so when you change your name it breaks your DLC etc. Though why Sony didn't force devs to use your ID Number rather than your PSN Name is beyond me.

You can still purchase the game, which is what PC gaming is all about, not playing.
Consume. Consume. Consume.
My heart says yes my head says please dont do it
Is Instant On the equivalent of the PS4's Rest Mode? Because with the PS4, if you lose power while in rest mode, it tells you to not do that when it reboots (and I think it might even repair itself).
Kinda. I'm aware the PS4 freaks out if it loses power, but the Xbox has never told me 'please dont do that'

Might be just that games have used username, they could still use IDs internally. Right?

Is Gematsu inaccessible for anyone else or is it just me? It was borking up while I was trying to login earlier and then I could no longer access it at all, hoping it didn't auto ban me thinking I was doing something fishy with the login or something. I get the 403 forbidden error, not 404 not found error.

Hang in there. The ban being extended to one month is bullshit. In the beginning I held out hope that Era would be a better place than GAF but as time passes I see the same issues creeping back up.
Funnily enough, I never had issues with GAF moderation (I mean, we had Stump and Jshackles and JaseC dream team there to represent us), but ERA in comparison seems to be run by a clique of spiteful, retarded (wo)manbabies.
I don't recall ever a situation on GAF where a mod entered a community thread, started stirring shit up and then closed the thread when people started to question that behaviour.

I'm curious, fam: is PC gaming anyone's sole hobby?
Far from it. :)

I love cinema, especially Italian cinema, and things like classic gothic horror, 50's/60's sci-fi, spaghetti westerns, gialli, noir, and lots more.
I have around 3000 Blu-Ray discs, and probably even more DVDs.

I also love music, especially 80's synth-pop, new wave, post-punk, and besides having a sizeable collection of CDs, I love going to gigs, and occasionally fly to England just catch a few shows.

I struggle with understanding Era.

I'm into vinyl, but I'm trying to be responsible.

Yeah, being responsible. ;)
I frequently forget about that, not with music, but with cinema.

I sometimes buy so much stuff!
My main problem ends up not being necessarily in terms of budget (outside of my hobbies, I'm a person who doesn't spend much money, and I don't have kids), but lack of space.
I have been (slowly) moving to a new house, and you wouldn't believe the amount of stuff I have. I know I have around 3000 BDs because I started making a list of BDs I own (it's not fully up to date, I have around 120 orders to add), to avoid duplicates. But, for DVDs, I have a room at the new house that is full of boxes of DVDs all over.

Also I like(d) going to the gym but they're so expensive where I live now. And I like to read about world history.

And build PCs, which may or not be an excuse to buy new parts every now and then

Do I gotta have the game dled to get it? Because it keeps giving me an error anytime I try to redeem it.
I added the base game, then I could add the starter pack.

That'd be a ban right there for that one word.

Aaaaand OBJECTION!1. GAF's mods were absofuckinglutely terrible too, they fucked up community threads and in the process whole communities quite often like FootyGAF for laughable reasons to a point where said communities left the site in droves. Everything that happens on ERA now happened on GAF and one might argue GAF's moderation created/fostered the people who now run ERA. Remember, WW2 was only possible because of WW1. One thing that was even worse was the lack of transparency, yes the banmessages are often bullshit and lies ('long history of insertrandomwhatever') but we didn't get anything back then, not even the length of bans afair which led to some mods powertripping with EvilLore eventually having to revert dozens of bans from certain someones. A lot flew under the radars of those unaffected, it's easier now to see what's what.

What I'll give you is that the hostility against PC gaming wasn't quite as bad overall, still there were horrendously bad unmoderated PC gaming threads every week which made you rip out your hair, it was more the good old 'PC gaming too complicated / too expensive / I don't see any graphical differences / too angular / MUH EXCLUSIVES' with some posters (mostly Sony-only-gamers) acting batshit insane and slowly killing any levelheaded talk. Especially the tech-focused threads got so much worse between ~2010-2016. Which is what I'm still salty and angry about. ERA started like GAF ended so I didn't expect much but GAF was good once upon a time, then got ruined by mods and posters running rampant.
