But to be blunt... This is just materialist stuff I'm celebrating... You know what I value more than materialistic things? Knowledge. What I'm even more proud about is the book I bought that just came out the same day - As the famous billionaire Warren Buffet says, "The more you Learn, the more you Earn."

Bleeding Edge is a beta channel for Proton Experimental that usually has some last-hour improvements, it's useful if you want to check specific games.

Go to library > Search for Proton Experimental > Options > Beta > Apply Bleeding Edge > Update via download window.

Although this aint necessary, this is usually for testing and so.

Nocturne indeed seems to be working. Nice !

Catherine still don’t work. Not nice ! Nice effort though, everything goes smooth until it tries to load the main game, then it’s perpetual loading (that finally crashes a long time in). The first logo displayed is suspect, a plain white rectangle, but maybe it’s normal. And the puzzle mode begins with a long dubbed intro without any kind of video ?

Just another of my attempts whenever I see things move in the right direction.

I'm wondering if Persona 5 Strikers works now via experimental and/or bleeding edge

What's everyone doing for audio on the Steam Deck? Is the onboard mic good? I'm thinking about some light wired headphones (KPH40 maybe) with the onboard mic for Discord use.

I'm using the built-in speakers or wireless earphones (Jabra Elite Active) since I don't use the microphone.

I played P5 Strikers a few months back, but that was using GE Proton.
P5S works well with GE 7.10 yeah but we meant Proton Experimental with the newest changes :blobmorning2:

oh I want a Steam Deck

oh wait Gabe still hates Norway

Maybe get a job in Sweden or something, and move their for a couple of months until you get a Deck. If you get a job that allows remove work, you might not even have to move. Once you have a Swedish bank account, you can switch your Steam account and enter in some place holder address, then when it does get shipped you just send it to a pick up station somewhere and go for a short trip to Sweden to pick it up.

I see that gamespot article about deck ruining hype for switch directs got a lot of jimmies rustled lol. Article didn't really make a lot of sense anyway, I took more of an interest in that nintendo 3rd party direct than I ever have before because of my deck. Battle Network collection and harvestella on deck? Sounds badass to me.

Just in time for the Friday going into a long weekend here in the states... definitely going to be a "productive" day of work :ripblob:

I confirmed it on Thursday last week and got it today so actually slightly longer than some others (8 days) but I wouldn't be shocked if Monday orders get shipped out faster, mine didn't actually get shipped until Monday.

So yeah, the launch options didn't help for The Sekimeiya on the Deck :/. Didn't even take 5 minutes to get it to freeze again this time, lol. Moonlight it is.
On the other hand, the game totally slaps.
It feels like this mystery is about 7 billion layers deep and they're still adding more. I'm probably not smart enough to figure out what the hell is going on on my own, but it's absolutely fascinating to just follow the characters along analysing every event from what feels like every possible and impossible angle.

I installed like 11 games on it. Only tested a few so far but even the one "incompatible" one worked fine, it just only supports mouse so have to use touchpad. Obviously time will tell but Capybara Spa, Murder By Numbers, and Cozy Grove work fine. Cozy Grove maybe a little laggy? Not sure, didn't spend much time messing with it. Murder By Numbers works great.

It's actually quite a bit behind in becoming the most common distro. There's two versions of Ubuntu there, which together are close to 20%. With other Ubuntu versions, like 20.10, and older Ubuntu is probably at 25%.

Someone in the Handheld war to end all handheld wars ERA topic mentioned having his windows install on the sd to play game pass title ?
You can do that. And nobody told me ?
Do you hate me ?

No, srs, you can DO THAT ???

You mean Windows on SD card? It's doable but from what I have read Windows generates so many write/reads that it obliterates SD cards.

I am pretty sure I talked about that possibility in this thread a couple of times, or maybe the Era one.

My feelings are so mixed right now.

I mean, sure, I could pay a premium and play from the cloud, but will it even be good. Windows on a SD seemed so glorious before the whole sd nuking thing.

BTW any news from your deck Knurek ?

Trying to setup chrome for xcloud. Didn’t launch a game but this isn’t looking good with the message saying the controller is disconnected. I followed the tuto and entered the appropriate command in konsole to allow the use of the deck as pad, though.
Maybe it has something to do with the fact that for the life of me konsole just refuses to let me type the capital c in the .Chrome part of the command.

That shit
flatpak --user override --filesystem=/run/udev:ro com.google.Chrome

fixed
now to understand how the fuck to type " on the virtual keyboard

Uh so… yeah. Xcloud on Steam works. But the game library is laughable. And Chorus UI for example is ridiculously small.

I tried xCloud on Deck recently with the official Microsoft guide, but the external controllers did not work properly with it. When I pressed "Select" or whatever this button is called on Xbox Controller, it would kick me back to xCloud game selection. Other buttons worked fine. Switch Pro controller did not work at all with xCloud. Curiously button remapping is completely ignored in Game Mode for Edge Browser.

For playing games, still enjoying the Deck 100% so far. It's great. Did Aperture Desk Job today which was fun. Played a bunch more Alwa's Legacy which works flawlessly so far. Shotgun King doesn't support gamepads but it's a simple turn based left click / right click control game so works easily.

The SteamOS desktop experience though really just isn't where I thought it'd be. I used Windows 10 with a touchscreen only for the first time like 2 years ago and it was more intuitive and easier than this, and that's without the benefit of an actual mouse control from the touchpad. The keyboard especially seems really slow to open and close, it loses the text box selected constantly, it also just doesn't enter letters sometimes (again, seems real laggy in desktop mode). I've barely used the keyboard in gaming mode but it seemed OK there.

Also having the touchpad push be the mouse clicks is completely and utterly the wrong choice? You jiggle the cursor by pushing which means you miss stuff all the time. I'll have to figure out how to bind that to LITERALLY ANY OF THE OTHER 18 BUTTONS instead because it makes no fucking sense.

The gaming mode experience is still pretty great, except for two weird things I've noticed - first, and this is minor, you can't get to your discovery queue naturally, you have to manually enter the URL or get a link to it, which seems like a baffling choice. Second, I cannot figure out a way to open a guide while in-game and then keep the guide open like I do on Steam PC (where I just shift-tab back and forth as needed). This also seems odd given it's been standard on Steam PC for the entire time Steam Overlay has existed as far as I recall?

i got qutie used to use the right touchpad to control this one

Yea anything turn based seems like it is really easy to control with mouse touch pad. I always struggled a bit getting the Steam Controller pad to feel good with mouse stuff, maybe the pad being smaller actually helps. I plan to eventually try pretty much every genre I enjoy on the Deck but some individual ones are going vary as well.

Ya, that one's pretty baffling. It looks like everytime you open the game details it spawns a complete new overlay instead of reusing the old one (since after you quit the game you have to close all of them).
There's a wonky workaround that doesn't work all the time but it's better than nothing: If you navigate to the "Guides" section and press the B button with just the right timing when it opens, it will go "back" to what you previously had open. It's still pretty annoying though, one of the more baffling UX for sure. I don't remember if I've already brought it up in the official channels, but probably not. Might be worth it to make sure Valve is aware of it at least though.

I should look into syncing apps to play Xenoblade Chronicles on the Deck.
But that would require some level of effort. Not cool.

I don’t even know where Ryujinx store its saves.

I’m looking into using SyncThing to sync my ROMs and saves from my PC and Home Server to the Deck for emulation purposes.

I already use it to sync files between my PC, MacBook and Home Server and it’s excellent, but I have no idea how good it’ll be on Steam Deck.
