First image from the James Webb Space Telescope was reveiled

Post this in your favorite Discord shitpost channel, there's loads of them but this is mad.

It "abuses" the webm change resolution functionality. There's some crazy ones out there, expect it to infect your favorite discord soon.
Be careful photosensitive peeps.

I think it may work on some media players too but i always have my video size set by the player not the other way around so it doesn't work for me but you can see the res change requests in the VLC logs.

Degenerates...

Wasn't sure where to post this but this channel has a lot of music theory etc about City Pop which has had a big ressurgence in the west over the last few years thanks to vaporwave and other genres like that. Figured some of you may enjoy the channel.

As a I learned today is the "Talk like a pirate day".

I expect people will get upset if i post this in the Shows and Movies thread but i am legitimately happy to see that Tim Hunkin has remastered his "The Secret Life of Machines" series!

He also has a newer series called "The Secret Life of Components". It's so good to see he's still going and still involved in encouraging simple, practical engineering and making it interesting... well, for me anyway.

Enjoy!

Another artist from my youth and days of reading 2000AD and it's offshoot publications has died.

RIP Kevin O'Neill

His totally umistakable scrappy line style is how i remember him even though he could turn his hand to many different styles and forms and i still remember this image after decades...

Damn, these days have been harsh. RIP Pele, John Bird and Vivienne Westwood!

not really "irrelevant" but unsure where else to post this – in 1985 Carl Sagan testified in front of the US Congress about climate change and lays it all out. "if we don't do the right thing now, there are very serious problems that our children and grandchildren will have to face"

It was all clear in 1985 already. We did nothing then and I reckon we will do almost nothing now ... and well, eventually it will be too late.
anyway it is a really interesting watch, even though watching it now, almost 40 years later, it comes with a large dose of existential dread.
