Forza is still very fun but the graphics and performance are a bit crap.
Why do I bother with PC Gaming, sigh

On the topic of controllers, I do have an 8Bitdo Ultimate and do enjoy it. Though the way the sticks rub against the edge of the casing feels bad... I think it's because of this pattern on the limited edition version.

I bought Phantom Liberty on Xbox and it's rather ugly at points. I have to admit to being pretty jealous after seeing screenshots and videos of the game maxed out on PC. Regardless, I still refuse to pay Nvidia's extortion prices for now. I'll cave when the 5000 series comes out

... I just realized that I have a controller with nicer metal joystick caps that I'm not using, a Gulikit one that sucks and has terrible latency. I could swap the joystick caps between the two controllers and make the 8Bitdo one feel nicer. That'll be a fun project when I get home!

Craftopia Yes/No?

Can anyone sell me on it? Palworld looks like fun.
Yes YES Y E S !

Basically it's a open world sandbox game with crafting, base building, farming, dungeons, bosses and some monster collecting.
There are a towers in each zone around the map that you need to repair and every zone has 1 or more bosses.
There is not really much of a story and the quests are basic but thats not really what the game is about.
It's a very good turn off your brain and have fun kind of game.
The game uses unity engine and the performance could be better but it has not stop me from sinking over 130 hours into it.

Palworld is the evolution of Craftopia built on Unreal Engine with more stuff.
Big focus on Monsters and there are factions and stuff so it will probably have a real story.

Kudos to you for managing to play an FPS on console. Haven't done that since Killzone Shadow Fall on PS4 I think.

A NEW DEATH END REQUEST SPINOFF AND A SEQUEL ARE COMING ALONGSIDE A NEW MADOU MONOGATARI (THE RPG SERIES THAT PUYOPUYO IS BASED ON) GAME WITH SEGA'S INVOLVEMENT!!! And a new numbered Neptunia sequel for those who still care.

WE ARE FREAKING EATING GOOD!!!!

Now Compile Heart just needs to fix their PC porting process, sell some actual merch, and quit it with the strange version differences (in terms of content), and I'll be willing to support them again.

Unreal Engine still ships with the wrong aspect ratio scaling for ultrawide displays. Devs never bother to fix it, so it's always up to the player or modders. :negative-blob:
Even if it takes only like 2 minutes at most to fix the problem, but since the fix isn't documented on Epic's side or even exposed as an editor setting, it has stuck. Now I do think they should have an adaptive scaling method (Vert- below 16:9, Hor+ over 16:9) as an option and then make that the default.

To respond back to this, I can't tell you if this line is good news or bad news.

Been playing a bit of Transport Fever 2 lately since I am on a Tycoon/Management/Building kick.

Recommend me some good games!
Is Frostpunk all that?

Oh man, AMD still hasn't managed to solve its driver issues? That's sad to hear. What kind of problems have you experienced?
  • AMD Expo still doesn't work properly
  • Driver updates won't install properly (have to do it manually)
  • Driver updates fix some things but break others (for example, Ratchet and Clank would crash completely, driver fix prevents this BUT ONLY if using FSR, otherwise it would still crash)
  • Strange monitor flickering unless I restart
  • Sometimes PC becomes stuck on restart until I do a hard (button) reset.
  • Drivers sometimes bork the GPU idle power consumption
  • I have to manually reset my FPS limit in Adrenaline every time I update drivers because it always gets back to 60fps.
  • FSR kinda sucks.
  • My power bill has gone up the fucking roof.

I've been using AMD CPUs and GPUs exclusively for over a decade, and I've been lucky to never had any issues.
Your milage may vary.

Just looked at my phone and I had a notification from Steam saying "Kingdom Shell is now available on Steam!" and I almost screamed.

I don't even know what the fuck that is or remember putting it on my wishlist lmao :upside-down-face:

Telltale releasing one EGS exclusive after another and all of them bombing is the games industry equivalent of this:

But hey, maybe the seventh time's the charm.

Holy crap that is a lot of issues. No wonder AMD can't gain any market share even when Nvidia messes up.

How it ended

And that is without single drive by post or trolling.

Also

Odd for a game sponsored by Intel...
The game runs alright on my 7800x3D + RTX 4080.
It's also kind of unremarquable under pretty much any angle. Tech wise I struggle to distinguish it from Origins and the gameplay look is something I've played before.
I think I'll drop it about midwray through like recent AC titles.

a few snippets, I found this funny, AoE 2 used to simulate ants warfare

Significance
Warfare is fundamental to the outcome of competition in social species from humans to insects and is of global interest and appeal to scientific and public audiences alike. Although theory predicts that the environment in which group battles take place will affect the optimal strategy, empirical tests are difficult. Here, we use simulated battles in a gaming construct to demonstrate that investing in smaller armies of stronger soldiers is more effective in complex battlefields. We then use a real-world system for group battle studies—social ants—to validate our findings in an empirical setting and find that small armies of large ants perform better against large armies of small ants in complex environments.
To illustrate the potential effects of environmental complexity on group combat in an idealized setting, we first arranged simulated battles using the real-time strategy video game Age of Empires II (30).
We staged controlled battles between two co-occurring ant species: the Australian native meat ant, Iridomyrmex purpureus (Smith, F., 1858), and the non-native invasive Argentine ant, Linepithema humile (Mayr, 1868). Iridomyrmex purpureus is a dominant member of the Australian ant fauna in bushland habitats and undisturbed areas, and L. humile is a globally invasive pest species that displaces native ants in human-altered habitats.
there's a youtube video about it

The issue is that you go to AMD support forums or sites and you start seeing stuff like 'well you just gotta undervolt CPU, GPU, mess with the BIOS and...' and like cool but I don't have the time nor the patience to do all that.
