Soooo..............

How are those "we don't report on the Insomniac leak" news outlets handle information about Sony and Insomniac going forward?
Do they just pretend to not know Information? Do they ignore news-worthy future stories that involve Insomniac leaks or do they censor those?
Do they vehemently deny something as the truth because it was obtained through a leak?
Do they just... not speculate what comes next for Insomniac, I mean speculation and rumors are like half of their business in gaming news.

At what point does this "stance" become impractical or even comical?

Spoiler alert: they will ride the good-guys PR for a few days or weeks and then ignore their stance.
Most of the outlets that took this stance today were already outed as hypocrites. People found articles from gamespot, vgc and pushsquare talking about the capcom hack and the announcements that came from it as well as other notable leaks in recent years.

I guess they all suddenly grew a conscience when it happened to insomniac/sony though. I'm sure it has nothing to do with all their dev friends and ex journalists who work in the industry or maybe they're worrying about the future hand that could feed them after they make the transition to game dev like most of their peers do.

And the Playstation fanboys moaning that a million copies for a 4 year delayed PC port at full price was too little lmao
I mean they love their exclusives and they just don't make the money that Sony wants. They want even more and gamers want even bigger games. I'm guessing that they are also excited and will champion when Sony eventually starts Charging $100 for a standard copy of their games. And will go on a out how this is the true cost of a a fine craft or something like that.

Is this different then the regular post that Steam did? I was not sure if this video was a different version that they did?

Those Marvel ports are some of the easiest money Sony will make.
I don't know how legit this is, but if the Spidey 2 PC port is getting most of the funding in FY24 that means the port is coming on September 30th, 2024 at the latest according to how fiscal years work in the US. That would be a record for a new PS5 release and I'm all for it, definitely a day-one purchase for me lol.

I wonder if GOW, HZD and TLOU Part 1 cost around 2 million as well. I doubt TLOU only cost 2M, that game probably was a pain in the ass to get on PC lol.

Hmm, I browsed Destructoid and suddenly, that was it. I broke. Internet is unusable on ipad.
But don't fret, friends, for apparently Mullvad VPN fuck this noise up to oblivion.

I'm also curious to try Wipr, because as cheap as Mullvad is, it's a recurring fee.

I was starting my annual 'let's update the release date open doc' and 'by the way, any Sony exclusives worth 500'.

Wait, Jon Blow is an Elon Trumper? Or just a random thing he saw/fell for? Should I even ask for a more detailed definition of a nuclear family for these people?

I just started following him when it was announced he'd be doing, I think, a VR game and I've not noticed any tweets before this one just now actually. But going through that retweeted account is seems to be a (perhaps somewhat tame) Trump/Musk supporter with the usual strong opinions that go with such things (and go on to strong opinions of how other people should live their lives, if they should have kids or not, if they should be afforded rights to this or that, etc.).

Why would IG be the lead dev on TLOU 2 PC ? It could very well be ND's second PC project with IG assisting with testing/QA.
Your timeline makes sense to me however, it could be announced in March and released in June/July. Usually there is a very short window between announcement and release for Sony PC ports.
They maybe won't be lead on TLoU Part 2 but they will be involved. And if TLoU Part 2 is coming it probably won't be announced until Horizon FW is out next year.

Do you remember Indiebox? I was going through some of my physical video games and I was looking at the steelbook CEs that indie box made for GameStop. This was back during 2016 or so, but Indie box had been making physical copy of indie games for PC for a few years at this point and was able to do a special run of 10 indie games (these indie games got a steelbook, included the game on a disc, it included a Steam key and if also included the game OST on CD). I'm guessing that it was a very niche market, it sound like when they normally would do PC CEs they were maybe under 700 or so in total.

The company technically is still around but they don't do the same thing anymore. What they do now is they help consult with indie devs and help them design their CEs and the merchandise that's included in CEs.

So here are the new rules... Leaks are bad if they happen to beloved developers like Insomniac that create awesome games. Shame on you for reporting on them! However, leaks are great if they happen to not beloved developers like Capcom (who also happen to create awesome games). Then it's open season and let's see who gets the clicks first.

My contempt for these people knows no bounds.

Blow has been a big supporter of Musk at the very least since The Witness came out, likely earlier too, very much on the "He's the real Iron Man" train from the early days. Not sure if he's openly supportive of Trump these days, but I'm sure he has zero qualms calling out the "libs" constantly.

And a funny thread, people calling him and his stance directly out and him going all vague "yeah I hope we'll see it consistently" "I'll be watching what happens next time" or whatever like he's just another person discussing it on the internet and not directly responsible for how it's been/is being handled too, wtf?

Wonder if there were breaks to this Insomniac (be)loving, like when they made iOS and Meta games, or what makes Capcom less so.

As for the leak, sad it cements Sony won't be utilizing their VR expertise and experience, Stormland was an ace game, a higher budget next effort would rule. It knda puts the artistic/creative side of game development in question when business decisions settle what all these people will be doing a full decade ahead...

So I don't understand why someone will want to make games private unless they're like hentai and stuff.

That's exactly what's it for, people have been complaining about friends seeing hentai games on reddit for years now.

Yes, total war Pharaoh.
I think it was because of the integration of the "social features" whatever they are.
Yes, that's the one I was thinking of.

I have quite a bit of hentai games and I don't/won't hide them. I even have Family Sharing activated with some family members and friends but I am not ashamed, I wear my filth proudly.

Regarding hiding games;

If you play adult-themed games, that's fine, of course. No need to feel ashamed for that; and if you want it shown on your profile, okay. But some people do want them hidden and that should be respected too.
And there is an even more valid reason to hide them. Imagine family-sharing (or even just letting them play some kids-friendly game) with younger siblings/nephews/nieces/kids etc and simply not wanting them to see or play those same games.

I'm mostly joking. It goes unsaid but of course there are many valid reasons to hide games and im glad Steam is giving people more power to do so.
Steam continues to work hard for their 30% cut.

You don’t need to hide games on Epic because their social features are so half-baked you can’t see what people are playing anyway.

12% justified.

I was initially confused when I saw this tweet because tom warren is a massive xbox fanboy, like just above jez corden on the respectability scale, and it looked like he was also taking the same stance everyone else did but the more I read it the more it seems like he's just summing up what he's seeing from the rest of the industry and sorta wants to say it's because of a sony bias he just doesn't want to say it out loud.

I thought the world really had turned on its head for a moment there.

They are not Journalists.
Lets call them old-school influencers.
that's the nicest I could say about Gaming media.
It would be wild as hell if this insomniac hack ends up being the first domino that leads to the industry having a reckoning with how our media is faaar too buddy buddy with the people and companies they cover. I mean we definitely need to have that conversation but I don't think anyone would have expected it to come from this of all things.

To this day I'm still aggravated with gamergate about this. Aside from the obvious awful shit they did that everyone knows about these days, they poisoned the well on discussions about game journalism and the role they play or should play. For years after that anytime you tried to start that discussion up you'd usually get people bringing up snide remarks like "ethics in game journalism amirite" to shut it down since obviously no normal person wants to be linked to a hate group.

But we absolutely needed to have this conversation 10 years ago. I first started noticing widespread issues with our industry's media during the GTA IV review period where they all got flown to a location and had to play it while rockstar employees paced around the room watching over them like hawks and then they all came back and gushed over it. It wasn't that they gave it 10s that was my issue, it was like it became a competition among journalists on who could 1-up the last person with more hyperbolic praise of it. Any recent game you think the media may have done this with like maybe BOTW I can assure you it was far more embarrassing and unprofessional with GTA IV. Then there's also the issue where our media is basically treated like an entry level game dev job with how many people springboard to it. I'm not aware of any other industry where this happens nearly as often as ours.

The only regrettable thing about the leak is that personal info from employees got leaked as well.

Some wolverine concept art and the nebulous idea of an Xmen game that is at the very least 7 years away is not a tragedy lol

I hate Jon Blow.

Because he is really good at making games (Braid and The Witness are amazing games), but he has some truly shit political opinions.
