I guess people can understand why sub services like game pass is not for me. Owning games brings a peace to my mind so that I can play those games I bought whenever I want. Game pass is basically like having a deadline on another person's library where that person not only wants money for giving me access, but games also leaves that library.
Like playing long games like Persona, Starfield, Stardew Valley etc. on game pass makes no sense to me.

Not everyone has the GDP of a small country to spend on games like you, so subscription services make sense for them. For the record I'm not criticizing how you spend your money, I'm just jealous.
Im not rich, I just don't spend money on so many other things. Like, if my economical situation was uncertain or unstable, I wouldn't buy games.
I can't speak about most of his rants, but his Alan Wake 2 one is just him being dumb (on purpose I assume). You have to do a ritual to enter the dark place, that's why you need to find the page. It's not about there being footprints, it's about opening up the entrance to another world by doing a specific set of actions. How do you know what actions to do? By finding the page that spells it out. If your comedy requires you to leave out obvious context that anyone with at least a few functioning brain cells would understand, then yeah, very funny. Feels like Cinema Sins, but for gaming. There's a lot of things to criticise about the mind palace, but this isn't it.

I just finished Chained Echoes and I'm completely in awe at what I just experienced... I can't even process or write something well thought out or structured, all I can conjure is that it's an amazing game that you all should get and play.

Found a guy near me selling a factory sealed OLED deck for 480€. Managed to bring it down to 450€. Gonna tell my brother to pick it up tomorrow because I won't be home this weekend. Let's see how it goes. Wish me luck.

I tried it and I think I got about 8 hours in but man the battle system just felt so slow. Like I should be doing double damage to enemies to have the battles move along at a proper pace. Same with leveling up my abilities used in battle, it just felt like those were improving at a snails pace.

The first hours can feel slow I agree but I believe it's on purpose in order not to throw everything at once at the player so they don't feel overwhelmed. After the first zone, the fields outside the southern capital, it picks up the pace fairly quickly and keeps raising the stakes.
As for the skills I don't think I agree. I maxed out almost every skill and didn't grind at all as there are a ton of XP sources. You get double XP from fights (all your equipped skills get XP and you get the same value added to your personal pool to spend as you please) and you get XP for completing reward board quests that take no effort at all and that will also give you shards that you can spend on new and more powerful skills. You can also get passive skills and stats from collecting gems and fusing them to your equipment, increasing your combat prowess. There are a ton of ways to make you stronger.
Regarding the combat I think it's a problem of party composition, not taking advantage of the overdrive bar and not exploiting enemies' weaknesses. My party changed over time but the standard starting 4 were the sword guy, the sorceress, the bard and the thief. Spend the first turn buffing and debuffing and killing everything in the following couple of turns. Worked in about 70% of the ground fights, the others were against bosses or some enemies that require a very specific approach.
Maybe give it another go and try to get to the end of act 1, if it doesn't grab you by then it probably never will.

So what is MetaSteam's take on the Yooka Laylee games? I'm looking at platformers and both are pretty cheap. Are they worth a playthrough on the Deck?
Also just do what I do. Add everything you want to buy to your steam cart and then spend a few days slowly deleting almost everything from the cart until you settle on a couple of games you really want

In 2023, I've only completed Playstation games (GoW 3, Uncharted 1, 2, Infamous Second Son) on PS4.
The only PC game I completed was a PlayStation game (Marvel's Spider-man)

I feel like the activity feed is an extremely important part of Steam's discovery system. Important enough that someone at Valve should be working to fix it even in the holiday. I'm actually kind of surprised that they haven't already fixed it in the last 2-3 days.
