I really need to sit down and spend a ton of time configuring and thinking about my Steam Controller setup rather than fiddling with it for 10 minutes and then going back to KB/M or DS4.

I am curious if a new CoD would be announced this year. If not, they're waiting for MS or Sonty to send freighter filled with money to them in order to fund another mtx-fest of a shooting game :V

There is. It was confirmed yesterday that it would be announced before the end of june.

Yo somebody should open an hardware thread like the good old Build a New PC one, because I'm kinda planning of upgrade some parts and don't know shit about it (reason why I won't open such thread).

Also, my mouse (a super comfy Mionix Naos 7000) wheel is broken and I'd like to try another mouse.
I've got a big-ish hand (big for a normal person, not for a pro basketball player), and a hybrid palm/claw grip.
RPS tells me that the Corsair Ironclaw is GOAT, but it looks weird (even though the Corsair logo pairs well with Obra Dinn), as weird as the Logitech G502, and also both are more expensive than the SteelSeries Rival 310, that at least looks less ugly.

Anybody has any suggestions?
Keep in mind I'm not a pro player, so I wouldn't tinker with weights and DPI and stuff. I just need something comfy for like 10+ hours a day.

Copons
My next mouse will be the Irconclaw since it's simple and also fits big hands. I tried it at a store and once my current mouse breaks I will get it.

Since my Xbox Elite controller is falling apart... I have gone back to using the Steam Controller a bit more for games like Warframe and Division 2 and I really, really want a new iteration from Valve. The aiming is so good but the ergonomics aren't that great for me and it also seems to show a bit of wear already.
I want a new one with better build quality. The grips suck, my left one doesn't register unless I press it really hard. The bumpers are also noisy and not satisfying to press. The touchpads and gyro are great, but the rest could do with a revision. Oh, and this time make sure to add proper vibration features; the experimental ones that are included right now are trash. Take a lesson from the Switch Joy-Cons and do something like that.

According to Microsoft watcher Paul Thurrott, UWP is "game over":

Thurrott: It's "Game Over", "UWP will disappear" - MSPoweruser

Let's hope this also means that Microsofts upcoming games will be released as unencrypted win32 games as well.

But on ERA I heard that MS will soon abandon win32 which will result in 99% of PC games becoming unplayable which will result in at least 20 Million PC gamers moving over to consoles. Yes indeed, someone argued that.

I'm actually really happy with how well my Steam controller holds up. I got it at launch, and used it at least 10-15 hours every week since then, and I haven't noticed any wear on it.

The one thing I might want is a revision with 2 grip buttons on each side.

I really need to sit down and spend a ton of time configuring and thinking about my Steam Controller setup rather than fiddling with it for 10 minutes and then going back to KB/M or DS4.
FWIW, I use a single basic layout for almost all controller games (standard mapping, but with the right touchpad as a low-friction trackball), and just configure the grip buttons individually.

Edit: I said "bumper" when I meant "grip".

I can't even be bothered to read it to be honest.
I've reached that point regarding this stuff months ago.

from what i heard pretty fine singleplayer survival and with v1.0 they added story .... some people even say its better than Astroneer

But those reviews, from Mixed to Mostly Negative. I think I'll keep this one 'ignored'.

We're getting these "pc gaming is dead" stories at the start of each console generation. I've even heard the fact that the new consoles will have SSD's as a reason for this on Era. But in the end, pc gaming is more successful than ever, so I'm not too worried. :p

Let's also wait and see what Microsoft comes up with in the near future. No doubt they won't give up trying to merge pc gaming with xbox gaming, but with Spencer in charge there's at least a small sparkle of hope that they won't f*ck up.

For me, the file encryption, ridiculous pricing of their games in Europe, lack of key reselling and the closed nature of the windows store need to be gone before I even consider giving them my money. Or an unencrypted win32 release on Steam of course. :)

The newest review is from mid april calling it a “dead game” despite how big 1.0 seems to be so. Don’t really think taking the reviews as gospel is a good idea considering they’re all essentially outdated now.

yep aggregate score isnt everything :p looking at the actual text of those .... mostly people angry about KS promised stuff, cancelled MP, long development and lack of stuff to do (which they might or might not fixed by adding story to it ) :p

From what my RL friends said its fine solosurvival and contentwise richer than Astroneer (and that was before story was patched in) :)
But yeah similarly with NPS people will rape it for not having MP

tbh really curious how it actually is as i am sick of coop survivals

The Logitech MX518 is getting a new version. A simple and quality mouse. The Razer Deathadder may also be interesting to you.

Friends don't let friends buy a G502. If someone does he's not your friend and never was. With that universal truth out of the way I suggest the Razer Basilisk, it's slightly over 100g so on the heavy side (btw pro players don't tinker with weights in the sense of adding them, if anything they mod their mice to remove as much weight as possible) but it seems to have a comparable shape to your old Mionix. Or take a look at the G403, the hump on the back is uncomfortable for some though. The Rival 310 isn't bad afaik. Cheap tipp: Logitech G203, there's also a great wireless version. It's a bit too small for me (and you I assume) and I don't like that it becomes more narrow towards the bottom but worth a look/touch, ya never know.

Rocket Jump Ninja is always good for an overview btw, if only to see what's out there.

DeathAdder Elite yes or its close cousin Mamba Elite, but the MX518's shape just isn't up to par anymore and has some weird, uncomfortable edges. Also while the DA is big too the 518 feels even bigger. If it fits your hand or you want a dose of nostalgia good, but I wouldn't recommend it sight unseen.

Oh, okay then. I don't care about multiplayer much. But I also don't need another survival game right now soooo let's remove the 'ignored' as a compromise.

That's a good idea -- if no one else does it by Sunday I'll give it a try. I don't have time to write a huge comprehensive guide, so I'll keep it simple and just suggest the core components I'd get at various budget levels.

Do eet.

Maybe give alternatives for both AMD/Intel and Nvidia/AMD (cross compatible so it can also be AMD CPU + Nvidia GPU). I'm really curious about AMD CPUs.

Though my upgrade won't be any time soon and things will be very different by then for sure.

sounds like a great idea ... do it! :)

and thanks :cat-heart-blob:

Anyone played this? Looks like the closest Ive found for FF Tatics and Tactics Ogre.

It's pretty good!

Here's my first impression from last month's Steam thread:
Fell Seal is so good!

It's exactly what I always wanted from a FF Tactics-like. It has everything what makes FFT great, from the robust class system, map design with elevation and such, combat mechanics and elements, exploration and team building, to story pieces in-between missions (sometimes in the middle of a battle too). No gimmicks and no cards mechanic, it's a straight copy of FFT at its very core.

That said, Fell Seal is not exactly a copy, as they also added some (optional) mechanics, including the injury system. If a character falls in a battle, they will be injured and heavily gimped if you choose to deploy them in the next battle. It's there to encourage having a substitute character ready just in case. It also encourages you to try different kind of characters and classes. Consumables are also different here, as they replenish after each combat so you can freely use them to as you see fit. Instead of obtaining stronger consumables, you can upgrade them in the crafting menu.

So people talking about ultra wides and 4K monitors. I rather just have something like this:

Found this when looking around for fan fixes etc for the original. Hope these guys get to finish it

They have a subreddit and discord for the project, as well as that youtube channel.

Mouse Help!
I'm tempted to go for the Corsair Ironclaw myself. I have 19x9.5 hands but i'm finding the Logitech G402 too narrow for my grip and i end up holding it too tight and i don't want my RSI symptoms to return. So any recommendations for a Palm Grip mouse to suit 19cm x 9.5cm hands? I play all sorts of games so that's no help at all but i would like at least 7 buttons i.e. DPI buttons, thumb buttons and preferably wired as i'd never remember to charge the thing.

Any idea what size hands the Ironclaw is aimed at? All i see is "Large hands or Palm Grip": Amazon UK Corsair Ironclaw mouse

yeah, that's my dream setup actually .... 43" 4k monitor in the middle and two 22" 1440p ones on both sides

Yes or no to these?

Danganronpa V3
Disgaea 5
Tales of Vesperia
YS Seven
Secret of Mana
Dragon Quest Heroes 2
Soul Calibur 6 (for solo play)

Danganronpa V3 is amazing and imo the best in the series, but its very polarizing. Some people absolutely hate it because of the last chapter.

Well that is way bigger then I had in mind. Middle around 30, 1080 lol. Sides would technically enough to fit a good width for reading stuff and seeing discord.

I've had a G502 for almost 4 years and it's still going strong, so you'll want me as your enemy. I can't recommend it enough.

Sorry, but it looks like it's been run over by a garbage truck. I'd rather get a radioactive Razer mouse :P

i was mostly thinking about resolution scaling ... if the middle one has to be 4k - 43" is the sweet spot there as it would enable me to keep windows scaling at 100% (since for like 80% of the apps scaling is either broken or non-existent) ... and at that size it's basically like four 21.5" 1080p screens glued together :P

147g, outdated laser sensor. Pls no. If it must be wireless the Mamba Wireless is very good. Or the Logitech G PRO (still waiting for a good deal myself).

G502 users aren't worthy of being my enemies. Begone!

Ever tried a DeathAdder/Mamba? Should be easy to get a hold of. Or one of the big versions of whatever Zowie mouse looks comfortable to you, but personally I can'd deal with their mousewheels and superloud buttons.

too bad indie games don't sell on steam any more

would've sold 2,500,000 by now if it was epic-exclusive
