Metaphor demo is up.
Can some one confirm the game size. It says it needs 60+GB for the demo. I'm going to try to download it on my Steam Deck but I don't have 60+GB on it. Since I have well over 200GB of games created compatible files, which take up a lot of space and it's a hassle deleting them all.

I'm downloading it right now and it's 58.71 GB.

Lol they must be hurting pretty bad if they're doing day 1 Steam on the one game that everyone has been begging them to make for over a decade.

Cool that Star Wars Outlaws will be coming soon. I'll probably play that one at some point.

Ubi financials must be in the dirt

Outlaws not performing well must be a problem for them as that game looks very big budget.

And Shadows looks like a AAAA game as well. They need these types of games to sell 10+ million

I wonder just how much money they lost with this stupid EGS stunt for the past 5 years.

Ubi came crawling back
SW Outlaws coming to Steam on nov 21.
Yeah all right, Avatar and Outlaws 100% hyper bombed and they can't risk it again with AC of all their series. I mean has anyone ever tried to use Connect at all in the last year? I sure did and let me tell you I can positively say after using it I will never pay more than a -75% sale on any Ubi game, ever

Oh, sorry, what I was meant to post was
This can't be happening! Why did Ubisoft cave to those Steam nazi crybabies! It's a cospiracy just like that unlawful mod that let users skip the PSN logins! Don't they see Gaben is an evil capitalist and his 30 yatch are starving poor developers? Sony please you must save us from the Steam monopoly with your own launcher! @President, @FBI, @CIA, someone stop them!

Even with them being back I find it hard to buy their stuff if the launcher is mandatory. Much like EA's catalog I will only pick up the few things I care about on very steep sales or not at all. At least EA seems to have started getting the memo lately

Ubisoft coming back to Steam with day 1 releases surprisingly wasn't on my bingo card, expected it to take longer.
Yeah, I would've figured that ~6 months late Steam releases would be the way forward for them. It seemed like a fairly reasonable way to have their cake and eat it too. I think their Star Wars and Avatar games both underperforming really fucked them up. And considering the news about AC Shadows coming to Steam day 1, I wouldn't be surprised if pre-orders for that weren't too hot either.

What's funny is Star Wars Outlaws and Avatar are basically their only recent big games that I have any interest in.

PsiloSybil final content update. Announcement of end of Early Access coming soon. Developer has cancer and will be focusing on that. Hopefully they'll pull through.

Remember this?
Hello Ubisoft. Shall we have a chat about unrealistic business models then, you goddamn clowns?

It's kind of amazing that all these greedy chucklefucks have never figured out why the Steam platform dominates their third rate launchers. It's because Valve is a PC gaming company. More importantly, Valve never stopped being a PC gaming company. Valve has spent the last 20 years making PC gaming better and as a result they built up a platform that is so incredibly sticky that these other companies have no hope of ever surpassing it. And on top of that the hubris of thinking that their output is so great that every PC gamer will bend over backwards to get to play their games and that whole idea just went up in flames.

I'm guessing Ubi is in a really bad position for them to have to do this. Avatar and Outlaws are almost certainly bombas and AC pre-orders must have been in the toilet with all the controversy they managed to stir up.

I remember fond times playing Lunar and Lunar 2 as a child. But uh..... Idk if I need to play them again.

Much more interested in a Soul Reaver 1+2 remaster if that comes to PC eventually which I assume it will
Was Lunar the game where you could go into a dungeoncrawl midgame and start at level 1 again without any gear and permadeath (for the dungeon)? It may have been the first roguelite
Never finished the games, but always remember trying to get further into the dungeon again.

there's a joke in there somewhere about a guy called Mr. Early saying that last sentence
I looked him up on LinkedIn and he's now senior vice president of clownfuckery at ubisoft. So he's failing upwards. Can't imagine why this company is in trouble with executives like him running things

Metaphor runs and looks like shit on the Deck. What a fucking disappointment.
My friend who is reviewing the game on deck told me it supersamples the image if you increase the settings. Try turning the render resolution down to 100% and see if that helps.

I'm currently playing it and in certain areas it jumps all over the place.
I need to test it on my desktop (but for what i've read it will also jump all over the place, less badly but still the same)

E: The first dungeon is mostly fine (still jumps but not as bad as in the city), and fights are fine. I've tried the ingame Limiter but it's a mess, locking in it with the Deck framelimiter seems more stable. I will try tomorrow with my pc and we'll see if it jumps a lot or not.

Even at 75% it doesn't hold 30fps.

A lot of drops in the big city, but without utilising the hardware fully. Maybe Proton patches can help there, similar to Persona 3. It can hit 30 in a lot of indoor scenes

Metaphor demo, apparently the game is only using one CPU core, but there's a workaround to fix it at least on desktop:

Start the game start Task manager go to Details right click Metaphor.exe and change Affinity, set it to one core save, Repeat and tick all cores back again and for some reason it will not go back to eating one whole core and causing these issues again. Sadly you need to do this every time you start the game.

Babieno noted that most of the revenue from the Silent Hill 2 game will come from the PlayStation platform. He added, however, that interest from PC gamers is not small.

"Silent Hill 2 is definitely a game that has been associated with the PlayStation brand from the very beginning," said the president.

"At the very beginning we had to push Konami very hard to focus on PC. For them, PlayStation is their main market, but judging by the interest on the Steam platform, it seems that it should also be a successful launch," he added.
It looks like Konami wasn't really focused on bringing Silent Hill 2 to Steam, but Bloober Team talked them into it.

Because the PS5 exclusivity deals were so successful for the publishers involved... :thinking-face:
I'm sure Konami is super happy about Castlevania Requiem being stuck on PS4 with Sony's proprietary emulator too.
And the thing is, I'm sure that they genuinely are happy and that no one involved in selling their IPs left and right to devs have any idea about any of it. Just another stone to the "capitalists don't understand capitalism" monument.

Good to see Metaphor sabotaging itself. Maybe with a miracle they'll fix the issues in the demo and all will go well, or all too likely they won't and the game will crash and burn. :shrugblob:

Yeah, it is kinda impressive how bad the port is. There's scenes where it barely hits above 60, on a 4090 and 7800X3D, while using less than 50% of either CPU or GPU.

It's not a demo in the regular sense, that is very likely the same build for the full size of the game. You just get to play the first 5 hours or so early, and get to carry that over into the full game.

Also nice to see that Ubisoft releases their games on Steam on day 1. Instead of alienating a huge proportion of their audience, they finally understand that their huge AAA games need every single one of their potential customers.
