Metaphor demo, apparently the game is only using one CPU core, but there's a workaround to fix it at least on desktop:

Tried the demo for a bit, this made no difference for me, both CPU and GPU being underutilized. :x

EDIT: Using DXVK gave me a pretty substantial boost in performance, from below 60fps to nearly 80fps at the start of this area (125% resolution scale at 1440p with a 3060 Ti):
Pretty much just had to download dxvk-2.4.tar.gz, extracted the contents, and copied d3d11.dll and dxgi.dll from the x64 folder to the game's folder.

To be honest even with delay and Steam release I think that AC Shadows will underperform. If sale numbers were low for November that is not that crowded month, I don't see them improving for February that is filled to the brim.

It looks like Konami wasn't really focused on bringing Silent Hill 2 to Steam, but Bloober Team talked them into it.

So disappointing to hear about the bad Deck performance with Metaphor :(

Are they not using the Persona 5 engine?

iirc I had P5R rendering resolution at 75 or 80% and played it for 150hrs on Deck at basically locked 60fps + 3-4hr battery life.

Really hope they are cooking up a patch for the launch as it is still 2 weeks away.

Yes, and that's part of the problem, it has the same problems everywhere.

There are some mods in the work if it's any consolation (special K, Lyall).

I'll tell you this. no matter where you play: do NOT use the ingame framelimiter (that thing makes it all worse).

Metaphor is really good, at the same time there are situations that feel eerily close to Persona that it kind of takes me out of the immersion (i.e. Traveling Boy's awakening is just a weaker version of Joker's awakening and More is just Igor.

Also Hashino finally learned good pacing. In the ~3 hours I've played I have already done two dungeons while in Persona 5 at that point you would have finally got your training wheels took off and been able to do Kamoshia's palace in proper.

12 Hours into FFXVI. It does alright on my 8700k and 4080. I honestly thought the CPU would hold it back more but i haven't dipped below 60FPS yet. I average about 80-90. 100+ in the smaller areas and cutscenes. (4K Res, DLSS Quality, Frame Gen, and all settings maxed.) So can't complain performance wise. It does get microstutters despite being on an M2 SSD when traversing larger maps.

My only complaint is the piss filter. Seems like the first thing to do for just about any AAA game these days is install Reshade, turn on some sharpening to help with TAA blur and then setup tone-mapping to make the yellow filter fuck off.

No complaints about story or game design. I like that FF is re-inventing itself each time since the HD Gens kicked off. I'm a big fan of spectacle and wow moments, FF tends to have lots of those.

There’s a Last of Us day?
I guess? Naughty Dog's been tweeting a bunch of stuff with #TLOUDay.

Doesn't seem to coincide with any of the games' anniversaries, so I'm guessing it's just a day they picked arbitrarily for a marketing push or something.

edit: looking into it more, it seems Sept 26th is the day the cordyceps outbreak started lol.

Metaphor should get a prize for being a bizzarely terrible port. Using SpecialK mostly fixes things, but you need to disable the in-game frame limiter. However, once you do that, it just breaks performance. GPU usage goes up, and framerate tanks (for no reason). The fix is to reduce the upscaling, apply settings, go back in game, then into the menu again and set the upscaling to what you had before, and performance recovers.

I honestly hope Atlus never does in-house PC ports anymore. I can't even imagine what the code on their end must be trying to do.

No mention of achievements on the store page lmao. People really will need to pester them with every single release. How can they be so bad at this?
SteamDB has cheevos listed under supported languages, while Valhalla which does not have cheevos, does not have that on SteamDB, so there is hope.

On the deck 30 in game lock vs 30 deck lock is night and day.

I don't think we'll get more games with that engine so there's that.

Having tested the game on my pc with SpecialK, still feels off but at least it seems more stable.
