New week, new thread! What are you playing?

I reached the final overworld in Dragon Quest V. I fought four bosses within a single day to reunite with my wife, and this final stretch was so emotional that I can't withhold my tears when playing it. On the other hand, monsters in the final overworld are so daunting to fight. Old-school RPG difficulty, love it! Plan to do a few hours grinding around the final town.

Progressing Case 2 of Ace Attorney Investigations 2. Fun premise with a familiar face from the original trilogy. Nice.

Also started Death's Door yesterday. Pacing is a bit off (too much walking) but I am enjoying it. Cool 2D-Zelda like.

Been playing Until Dawn for two days now, and having fun. Hoping to finish it before Friday before Metaphor drops.

Been also playing a few other titles, like Atelier Ayesha. Still early in, but it's nice to see that Guts is keeping things fresh with this game, the new alchemy interface seems nice and easier to read than the old one in the Arland games.

Finished the Metaphor Demo, the boss of the optional dungeon made me appreciate the job archetype system a bit more, the boss became a joke with the right combination of jobs + synthesis (combination? skill).
Also gone back to Tekken 8 to see the new story content (and test characters there a bit).

I started Ultros but I'm not sure if I will keep playing, not because the game is bad or anything but because I'm searching for a game in my library that grabs my attention.

I started playing The Forgotten City today, and then I finished all 4 endings of it.

Highly recomended, it's rare that you see a story-driven game that is this open in terms of what you can do and when you do it, while also being basically devoid of filler.

Last night, I finished Yakuza 6. I started this game during new year holiday period, got burnt out and shelved it for months. The finale went off the rails a bit, despite the “familial bonds” thematic focus which is probably the strongest since Kiwami 2.

This week I'll try to finish Edgeworth Investigations since I'm already on the last case of the first game. Unsure yet if I'm going to continue with my ADV roll after that, though.

Then, Metaphor on Friday.

I've been playing AfterImage for a while now (36-38hrs). This game is huge. It's a weird one. I feel like it's a few tweaks from being real good. The quest design could be a bit more obvious. I think the flask distribution could be better. I spent 20 something hours with 4 health flasks, but then doubled that in the next 2-3 hours. Now I'm at like 10 when I need it the least.

I think they added an easy mode after some people complained about the difficulty. They replaced the original normal mode, and made that the advanced mode. I picked Advanced, and it's honestly not bad. You just need to buy some health items before certain bosses, and utilize some light save scumming if you die at a tough boss you have no business fighting (grab exp. and quit the game).

I think I'm in the home stretch. I just got the last upgrade that I know of, so I'm just running around trying to collect the last few items.

Afterimage took me 45 hours to get all the achievements, and I think it's one of the best Metroidvanias on Steam overall. Yeah, there are some strange decisions, but to me they don't really detracted much from all the things the game does well.

Got the speedrun achievement in Strider, 2 hours and 23 minutes or thereabouts, so well under the 4 hour par time. 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️
Also already started a hard mode run. :longswordblob:

Gave up on 2K Drive Lego, the performance was terrible, the driving model shit and the rubber banding obnoxious.

Started Space Marine II and Showgunners while I work out why Satisfactory is now giving me constant BSODs. Every other game works fine so it's something that became corrupt the last time satisfactory CtD'ed.

Edit: Also went back to Greedfall

Turns out that you can do a pretty speedy run through Strider on hard mode too even while picking up every single power up and still have plenty of time to spare.
So that's now all achievements, huzzah.

Started Jusant.
Disabled CA as a first thing. :D
Not sure if I'm able to play though, the scenery is very lightly pastel colored and the art style lacks texture detail which I don't mind as such, but it just so happens that it makes the browser toolbar that's burned into my tv kind of distractingly visible.

We'll see if I continue right away.

I need a new tv. :blobclosecry:

A new screen is transformative. I upgraded from a 1080p LCD to a good mini-LED 1440p VA last month and it was like a GPU upgrade. Outside videogames, I watch Netflix with my family daily and the watching experience is absolutely amazing.

I have a LG C9 OLED that's approaching 5 years now and I kind of don't want another OLED, honestly the tech is a bit overhyped I think. MicroLED and QDEL/nanoLED are too far away too.

So I'm thinking about some kind of mini-LED as well, but Black Friday sales are still far away, I don't know if I can survive that long. :rip:
No idea about what's good either, lots of research needed.

Definitely try to get one in a shop instead of online then. I think OLED still looks more beautiful than other screens. Saw some people online saying how good a QLED is but after seeing a Samsung QLED in person... damn I was disappointed. Maybe the store did not make any adjustment because it looked like a slightly better LCD.

Been playing Animal Well which is a very good game, great style and level design.
Also jumped back into Elite Dangerous after about 5 years away. Dug out my VR kit to fully imerse into the spaceship world. Its awesome. All i really do is fly from station to station though. Wish there was a bit more of a linear story to it but i get that's not what the game is.
Bought Grunn and will give it a go tomorrow probably.
