I haven't played Killer7 but a new QOL update was released today.
Cool PC gaming: here's abunch of improvements for an old ass niche game for free.

Sony: that will be 10 bucks for a shinier version of the game we released last tuesday.

A saga of Valve fixing a 17 year old texture bug in two parts:

10/24/24:

  • Fixed BLU Scout using the incorrect team color pants

Suddenly multiple cosmetic items are broken with the new color:

10/25/24:

  • Reverted BLU Scout pants fix because it conflicts with too many existing cosmetics

Sonic X Shadow Generations is excellent on Steam Deck. I had some perf issues with it the day it unlocked, but they got fixed up and SteamOS 3.6 also helped. Review here in my new weekly Deck newsletter and coffee below. Just started replaying it on Switch earlier today.

Reason: Missed out two words from the text. Note to self: Don't post on MC before morning coffee.

What is the deal with BLOPS, are the campaigns standalone? Or should one play all previous BLOPS games to get the story, or only some of them? I remember some were futuristic or something.

Sorry Durante, I used to buy all PH3 games at launch or soon after, but NISA makes it almost impossible to do here

(some of it is on Valve's absolutely moronic recommended pricing for our region, but NISA started fucking us long before Valve did).
(nothing you can do about it, I just wanted to vent. sorry)
Yeah, Ys8 will be my last Ys game :Kain_blountsleeping:

The games do have a connected narrative with several repeating characters across the games. The developers put out a story recap here - https://www.callofduty.com/blog/2024/10/call-of-duty-black-ops-6-campaign-part-1-story-intel

Ultimately though, it's not actually that important. These games are like summer blockbuster movies and you're there for the action and setpieces, not the story. It's like the new Godzilla and King Kong movies... they have some sort of ongoing, shared narrative but nobody gives a damn because you're just watching them to see big ass monsters wrecking shit.

I hated BLOPS 2 and it's two endings of either
1/ congrats, you shat the bed hard, the world is in trouble
or
2/ congrats, you shat the bed hard, the world is in trouble

Yeah, itsthesamepicture.gif

To be clear, I honestly don't have an issue with sour endings, but this felt like an ow the edge, nihilist shit of a respectable magnitude.

Haven't been much active lately due to a lot of work to do. This week I finally started Metaphor (great so far) and continued playing some Satisfactory and Sun Haven.

Gonna write a quick review of the Silent Hill 2 Remake too.

Looks great made by the same dev who made this smurf game!

Kind of the opposite, Marsupilami was released in 2021 :nerd-face:
And it is a really great Donkey Kong Country Returns clone! They even added a harder, entire world for free post release.

This new Smurfs games is more like Mario 3D Land/World, and it seems really good too, I'm gonna play it soonish. I cannot recommend the other Smurfs games by Microids though, they are not terrible, but they are very mediocre.

Ocellus Studio is really the stand out from that publisher, and I'd say they have the potential to become a lot bigger than they currently are. I definitely can imagine them doing a Rayman game one of those days.

Romancing Saga 2 remake reached a peak of 14.3k concurrent players on Steam today, while it's nowhere near as much as the bigger JRPGs on Steam, it's the best result so far for the SaGa games by far (the next highest peak was the SaGa Frontier remaster with nearly 2.6k), and also a better result than any game in the Mana series too (Trials of Mana remake had a peak of nearly 12k and Visions of mana had a peak of nearly 7k), any of the Dragon Quest games (DQXI had a peak of nearly 11.8k), and any of the FF games except for XV and XVI.

Got to the epilogue in Celeste but it looks like I barely scratched the surface of the game. I still need to:

  • Collect strawberries
  • Collect all blue hearts
  • Collect all tapes
  • Beat the B sides
  • Unlock and play Chapters 8 and 9
  • Beat the C sides

The gameplay is pretty addictive even though I suck (death count til the epilogue was over 1400)

Yea the new Smurfs game is very good. I thought it would be typical licensed junk, but I'm surprised.

I'm contemplating buying a Backbone One...

I was surprised by it tbh. Fantastic game and remake, but seeing it above FF7 Remake CCU is hilarious. I'm still waiting on my Switch physical copy pre-order.

RS2 (the steam port) was my first SaGa game, I knew nothing about the series outside of how it's the "spiritual sequel" of the FFII growth system before playing it
The fact it was originally a SNES game blew my mind. Make no mistake, it has lots of obtuse systems, but for all intent and purpose it felt like a "WRPG" made by japan: quests with multiple endings and choices which have major impact during a playthrough, open world to tackle how you prefer, very selective character and party customization (no way to make the party members "Masters of all trades") allowing the player to try different things each playthrough, high amount of secrets and missables
It made me a SaGa fan, it made me realize the series deserved more, it made me realize Romancing SaGa 2 deserved more. And now there is a RS2 remake with almost mainstream numbers. Let me tell you: RS2 deserves those numbers

Finally getting around to playing Little Nightmares. Cool game.

Also playing Scenario 3 of Shining Force 3. Unfortunately the emulation isn't flawless like in the previous 2 games, there's a bug with the ground texture. It's really weird because this is basically the same game, why does it only happen in part 3? Anyway, these games are a must for fans of SRPGs, so glad that I finally got to play them.

Can it WAKE on LAN over internet? As I use steam link to boot my phone from anywhere within my LAN. Tho I mostly play games when not home on LTE. I played games like Elden Ring and RDR2 on it with great success. Even on free WiFi in my country it was good.

I wanted to get a device to play hoyo stuff on phone, ZZZ feels like a pain with "normal" phone controls.
Any reccomendations between the Backbone One and the Kishi? I'm getting it for an Iphone but I really dunno anything about the two devices like if one is better at something compared to the other.

Can I also use them as normal controllers on my PC if I close the slide? I assume they also work with Steam Link since that'd be running on my phone, anything particular here like special features for steam link?

I did another campaign playthrough for Remnant 2, this time with the engineer class. Most of the bosses are a piece of cake, you just have to focus on dodging while your automatic turret does damage. Not upgrading your guns too much helps a lot as well, since it keeps enemy scaling below level 12. I even managed to kill the final boss at my first try, while I couldn't beat him with my Hunter build.

Kishi Ultra (not the normal one) is better if you prefer full-size controller form factor rather than the smaller ones (Backbone One and Kishi normal). It is $150 though. You can use it wired on your PC. I tested mine on Steam Deck via USB C and it worked. The main flaws aside from price = no hall effect sticks + not really portable enough to carry with you.

Backbone One USB C (make sure you get the 2nd gen model) is basically the best of the best overall but you cannot use it wired on your PC unless you pay for their sub. Yes, they actually block that. Sucks.

Remote play apps like Steam, Xbox, PS etc detect it as a normal controller and it works in my experience.

One point of comparison is that Razer Kishi Ultra = like using a Steam Deck while Backbone One / Razer Kishi (non ultra) = using a Switch handheld in terms of face button and stick size. Not directly comparable but that's the kind of thing you should expect moving between them.

I reviewed all of those and the expensive setup = Backbone One in your bag and outside the house while Razer Kishi Ultra to play on your phone at home. Not really ideal but yea lol. If you want to read my review comparing both, it is here. I specifically wrote this up as a comparison review since many people have asked me which I would recommend.

Thats the one blind spot I have. Been hard to track down an easy way to buy that locally. There's also the new 8bitdo coming but they haven't confirmed if it works on iPhone or not. I bet it will, but they can't advertise it yet.

But yea, that GameSir USB C (not bluetooth) G8 is on my to buy list so I can have all controllers covered.

You install sunshine on your host PC and moonlight on your client device. Moonlight generally have better image quality than Steam's Remote Play, but you need to spend some time configuring it. It does have an option to WoL, even over internet.
I used moonlight before upgrading my PC. It was working great, definitely it was better than Steam's Remote Play in almost every aspect. However, I got a new PC and it doesn't like moonlight for some reason. I can't get it to work properly, so I'm sticking with Steam's Remote Play. One big aspect that I like about SRP is that it's built right into the Steam Client so it's much easier to use and much quicker to connect to a host and play the game. When I press guide button to bring up Steam menu, I have access to the game's guides, achievements, etc. It doesn't work like that with moonlight.

I hope Valve keeps updating SRP. I would really like image quality to come closer to moonlight. IIRC, Steam Beta introduces HDR support and AV1 streaming, but that's not enough.

Yes you need both. Sunshine is the open source replacement to geforce game stream which was discontinued by Nvidia.
Quality and latency is superior to steam link.
It supports Wake on lan but im not sure if it works outside your own network. there might be solutions for that though.

The Anonymous Code true end rebooted the whole universe so this SG Re;Boot is most likely an Evangelion Rebuild/FFVIIR style of "remake"

the money!
And all the art will be replaced by AI
Must be inspired by the original Evangelion logo
110%
Just the title ("4.44 You [are] Fish") gives it away that this is parodying Evangelion.
