Getting off Twitter/X was the best decision I made all year for my mental health.
I really second this. Bluesky has almost everything I liked from Twitter and nearly all the same people. And it isn't run by a Nazi.

But really less social media in general has improved my mental health overall. It's just a bad way to experience life

Thank you for the new thread lashman!!!

:steam_pigblanket:

Cannot believe we are almost done with 2024. If I had a better computer S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 would be day 1. I still have my boxed copies of the earlier games. One of my favorite series. We will see how it plays on Deck I suppose. :ripblob:

Otherwise, I will be one of those dummies picking up Taiko no Tatsujin.

Keeping low tabs on Slitterhead as well, but have zero expectations of it being good.

Oh and definitely looking forward to the Tetris Forever collection.

Might start a DA series replay before I jump into Veilguard, I’m tempted because of no DLC are being worked on, I usually buy these games late when DLV are out

Finished P3R's Episode Aigis.
Gonna wrap up Shining Force 3 scenario 3 and then I might check out Desperados 3.
Considering replaying Bioshock Infinite on the Deck, or at least the dlc which I only played once at launch and was fantastic.

I was very slightly interested in Dragon Age, but it's another one of those cases where I'm just not sufficiently motivated to get it at launch, and then something else will come up (e.g. I'll almost certainly play Avowed when that releases), and I'll end up postponing it indefinitely. Precisely that happened with Inquisition.

I'd be curious to see what you thought of the PC port at least. Feels like it is rare to see a big budget Western game get a good PC version (that scales down) like this one did.

Going to Japan again in the end of February, does anyone know if it's easy to change account country to JP to buy the new DoA game? Asking for a friend obviously, I'm not a degenerate.
Regarding Steam account stuff, you're better off making an alternative account, because changing your account back is going to result in the game being locked (There's also a cooldown period for regional changes). I don't think you need a VPN, just set the account to Japanese. You can then top up on Webmoney (It's a general purpose prepaid card thing, and PlayAsia IIRC was one place where I was able to buy it) which you can then use to buy the game on Steam. Steam has a way better streamlined account switching system now anyways, you don't have to constantly log in anymore and it behaves more functionally to a console now.
The HL3 rumors, the HL2 update rumors, the HL2 RTX remaster, and now this, Half-Life fans are eating good finally.

Valve is working hard on the Half-Life 2 anniversary update and Half-Life 3. Why yes I have overdosed on copium, why do you ask?
Really looking forward to seeing what they're cooking up for the anniversary update. Hopefully some playable content that got cut from the game when Valve redid a lot of the game after it leaked.

Can't imagine Valve doing much for Half-Life 2.

Maybe they uprezz some textures and do a half baked remaster. Maybe some AI assisted thing because who at Valve would want to work on old early Source at this point.

And I don't see a full on big budget remake happening until they do one for the first game.

I think it's pretty fair to look at the 25th anniversary update of Half Life 1 from last year and expect something similar. It's not going to be a full remaster or anything like that but a lot of quality of life stuff with maybe some cut content.

Thanks for the tip, however I (or rather my friend, hah), is very keen on just using one account, also the game only gets locked for 90 days, I believe. The 3 month cooldown is a PITA but should be cool.

Wow, I just tested to change region to JP with a WebMoney card and that worked just fine. Weird, I was sure they made it muuuch harder now to change. Cool, gonna pick up some exclusives then before changing back in 3 months.

The Persona series...

Speaking of SMT Persona, I finished Touhou - Artificial Dream in Arcadia last weekend. I think this is the best "Megaten-like" game not made by Atlus and just a rock solid Dungeon Crawler all around. Think 16/32 bit SMT with Touhou characters instead of Demons.
Fun story (especially for a Dungeon Crawler), varied Dungeons, catchy music. And the combat is just satisfying is classic Megaten-goodness.
To think that I bought FF16 last month for 50 EUR, dropped it after 10 hours and then played a 10 Euro Artificial Dream for 35 hours. But after reading a bit of spoilers I think I'll skip the post endgame Dungeons as they are supposed to be really hard. The challenge in the normal game was just perfect for me.

ResetEra moderation is worse than GAF now. They'll ban people just for farting wrongly now.
I was part of the PCEra community that had a large part of the userbase driven off the site by poor Era moderation and the original sane Politics era that had a large portion of that community driven off the site by bad moderation earlier this year. I sometimes wonder why I even bother still posting there, I think it's a habit more than anything else at this point.

There's so many other communities that were driven off the site like the sales community and Nintendo community by similar poor moderation. I was actually in the Politics discord era server for a long time before that group was driven away and saw straight up lies being told by B-Dubs about that community because I was actually in the discord and could see the things he was accusing the community of wasn't true. There were also 2 very problematic moderators involved in that that would have been banned if they were regular users based on some of the comments they made but because they're mods everything was just fine and somehow they're still moderators.

If I was the company that purchased Era I would probably be pissed that the poor moderation was driving so many users away. It's not like there's a ton of people willing to hop in and replace those users. Message boards are a dying type of social media for the most part.
