Just purchased Fort Solis for 1 euro because of the latest humble choice.

If I was a developer, I would never add my game to humble bundle. The way its value instantly drops to pennies, and basically stays there forever, killing all future sales on Steam and non-reseller platforms, is just suicidal. I actually saw interview with one czech indie dev where he lamented exactly this - after he added his game - really cool strategy: to HB, all his sales basically dropped to zero and even years after the bundle, people are buying the game for 1 euro on reseller websites instead of on Steam. The regret was palpable.

I started Sunday (minus about an hour for a false start last year). I saw the previews for KCD 2 and it looked nifty so I decided to go back to the first once. I don't know if I'll actually finish it, but it's gotta be doing something right.
It's one of my favorite RPGs of the past decade, and I think arguably up there with Morrowind, Gothic 1 &2, and New Vegas for 3D open-world RPGs. There is a lot of flexibility in the quest design, though it asks you to come up those options instead explicitly telling you about them. It does a lot to really immerse you in its world.

Have fun!

Hey can I just say

FUCK THE GODDAMNED CHIMERA FIGHT IN PHANTOM LIBERTY

Completely invalidated my Stealth Netrunner build, had to tank the difficulty to Easy to just cheat it, and now I've lost all motivation to continue this run. It's basically set a tone that my build is no longer viable.

The whole intro sequence to Phantom Liberty and then
fucking loot boxes falling from the sky
is easily the worst part about Cyberpunk, feels like you stepped into a different game. Completely stopped me in my tracks as well, something even all the bugs at launch never did.

Once you get past that it picks up again though (and plays like the base game), the DLC has some great content very much worth playing.

I covered Tales of Graces f Remastered on Steam Deck, ROG Ally, and Switch for RPG Site. The game on Steam Deck has an issue you need to fix by forcing a 16:9 resolution else the game is stretched lol. Tested this on both my Decks. Other than that, lovely experience. (Posted in the wrong thread before. :zipper-mouth-face:)

So it would stretch the image vertically to 16:10? that's pretty funny. Is that also a bug on Windows when you play on an ultrawide?

Yea and just the gameplay not the menus and UI haha. I couldn't test ultrawide for this one as it didn't let me change aspect ratio in game and I don't have ultrawide monitors at home.

They can't be taken seriously. They wonder why they have no allies left when they're willing to burn everyone at the stake for the slightest perceived offense.

TotalBiscuit was a true consumer advocate. His support of Gamergate wasn't because he hated women and minorities, he (mistakenly) believed that it was an honest movement for 'ethics in game journalism'. He made a mistake but it was an honest mistake and it shouldn't be used to sully his memory.

There were quite a few youtubers who were like that at the start. I mean I too thought it really was about ethics in journalism and I was like yeah we should talk about this. People forget not everyone obsessively read forums at the time and learned the minute to minute breakdown of what was really going on. It's not all that different now just instead of forums it's "oh you didn't follow this 27 tweet thread by someone with 6k followers exposing that thing everyone's talking about how dare you".

For some of the left, if you made even one error in the past, you are irredeemable. And that you can never change.

When I said that part of the AFD voters in Germany are poor protest voters who were left behind by the policies of the last three decades and that we need to address this issue and get them back to vote for "us", there was a wall of:
"one time a nazi, always a nazi"
"they just show their true colors"
"we don't want them anymore"

And even if some were secretly racist and not just protest voting, as long as they are racist in their head or in their little bar or at home or whatever, I will take their vote for left or centrist parties with open arms if it means no facsist party gets into the state elections.

No nuance, only outrage.

But yeah, IIRC his "support" for gamergame lasted about 5 mins. TB did have a tendency of speaking before thinking and putting his foot in his mouth but I think anyone that was actually familiar with his content/views would know better than to label him as an actual gamergater.

That post in the GamerNexus thread was the exact moment I pressed the eject button. I just can't anymore with that fucking forum lol. I still have an account but I don't see myself engaging with that community ever again.

Checked a bit through those slides, talks a lot about how spending is down, how it must go up... but people just have less money to spend, unless we find a solution for that, everything is going to go down, higher profit year after year is only go on for so long until it just breaks.
And Trump is coming baby, time for more austerity.

The slides of industry and market research groups and experts predicting growth of some games, the industry or VR are especially hilarious where they predict near exponential growth every year for a decade. Like the VR slide.

Hell yeah the hair rendering wars are heating back up! ;)

It looks good. I feel like hair is often an undercooked portion of character assets and I'm not quite sure why.

Meanwhile modders in Skyrim can pull off thousands(!) of realistic hair mesh and textures complete with physics, like bounce, movement, and swaying in the wind. For longer hairs you even have hair that reacts to body/armor instead of just clipping through.

Part of me has always been curious about why it's such an afterthought or not even a thought at all for actual game devs. It doesn't even take up that much CPU juice these days.
