All the best for 2025!
You can get something that performs notably better (in terms of CPU and GPU), but only at a significantly higher price, and the higher performance will only really be achieved at a higher power consumption level.

IMHO there's no real competitor for the 569€ OLED Deck -- especially as a complete package, taking into account performance, battery life, screen, audio, input, ergonomics, software and pricing -- unless you have very specific requirements (primarily, really wanting to play multiplayer games with incompatible anti-cheat).
Yeah Deck OLED seems the way for me then. It'll be for indies and older games, I can always stream AAA games to it from the PC or whatever

Having spent more time than usual on Deck playing vanilla FF7 unmodded (don't !) I'm still unconvinced by the build quality of the thing.
Now, yeah, as usual, it may be a me thing, some issue that nobody has, etc. May even be FF7 because, ugh, this port is all kinds of shit, but...
When I use the DPAD and feel some vibration from the very near trackpad, I'm just like, no, this is not all right.

Again, maybe it's an issue with my unit.

Decided to dig into some older games I never played on PC. Currently playign Batman: Arkham Knight (finished it years ago on PS4) and downloaded Mafia 3 (tried it once many years ago, didn't like it much, will check it out again).

The timing of the Switch 2 and its release should give a nice extension/resurgence to Deck's life. The value will be there for a long while imo.

A lot of 3rd party devs are gonna push out new and old games onto the Switch 2 in the coming years.

And since the power of the Switch 2 is roughly similar (or a little higher) than Deck...this should benefit the Deck.

These two devices are gonna pretty much be the baseline for devs for at least the next 5 years. They know they have millions of users on PC and Nintendo who they can sell games to. And that is a specific revenue before they touch consoles/pc sales.

Even after Deck 2 comes out the first will still have plenty of use and be able to play all sorts of new games. Especially indies.

Would be neat if Switch 2 becomes even more ubiquitous and that this help PC ports establish a better (i.e. lower) power ceiling and a focus on handheld PC devices. Sadly, there are lot of conditionals there and I fear it won't amount to much in the end.

And the latter is "easily" solvable by dual booting Windows

Hopefully this doesnt mean its delayed, its also gone from my library.

They removed advanced access and made app hidden from public 20 hours ago. Hopefully this is just because of reviews copies or something.
I really hope that it's not a possible case of the game getting pulled from Steam to be an Exclusive to another store (Battle.Net?) - This time with fully voiding existing Steam preorders.

It's definitely not being removed from Steam and from what I know reviewers should also be receiving the game soon

I have no love for Linus but Steve/Gamers Nexus should knock it off with the holier than thou drama shit.
honestly, mentioning LTT in a video that really is not about them came off a bit petty. It also omits context: that WAN episode was from a couple years ago when it wasn't clear how much of a scam Honey was: them stealing affiliates, sure, but it still seemed like they lived up to their promise of finding good coupons; So great for consumers, bad for content creators. That's what Linus was talking about, he was really saying that it would make him look bad to his audience, if he makes a video telling them not to use Honey because it's hurting people like him, when he's running a huge operation like LTT. Sure, that's still pretty lame reason not to make a video, but it is also fair to point out that GN is being shitty and ultra petty by showing a brief clip that people will obviously interpret as if Linus is talking about Honey yesterday.

various games but Im getting close to wrapping up Ys Book 1 and 2.
This version is way better then the steam version.
It has some voice acting. cd quality soundtrack.
ys 1 does not have a level 10 cap. (makes the bosses less obnoxious)
I like how they transition between the 2 games.
I post video clips on bluesky.

Cool!
Seems I'll play the TG16 version.
What emulator do you use for it specifically? I know it is a TGCD game

A bunch of games got took down.

So, despite all the articles about the TikTok ban, did nobody really consider that it could affect other apps/services/games ?
I thought it was just for TikTok, but I haven't paid much attention.

What's funny is that the TikTok homepage is currently praising the fat orange fascist so good job making Zoomers and Gen Alpha life long Republicans.

I know the negative sides of TikTok, but banning it is stupid and will backfire on the dems regardless of the GOPs stand on it.

Already has, trump will unban it with the condition that it is a propaganda machine for trump, TikTok already in the ban message is painting trump as a savior
This was so easy to predict, but the Dems just love taking Ls despite being so close to grabbing that W. It's infuriating how bad the Dems are at claiming an L at the jaws of victory. The dems keeps serving the Ws they so easily could have gotten themself to the Repubs on a silver platter.

I don't think Trump will unban it. This was a heavy bipartisan law too.

If Bytedance hasn't sold in the past 6 months why would they do it now? Were they really posturing for more money this whole time? If not then I don't see what difference Trump will make.

Looks like they are putting the ball in his court. This is basically passing the blame from the Biden's admin to Trump's.

I don't know what this will change tho. If Trump gives them an extension it will be to sell and if they don't then the app will shut down again a few months.

I don't really see Trump being able to fully strike down this law. This will be giving China a W too and this will hurt his image.

I still can't believe that Star Wars Outlaws has worse facial animations and lip sync than Ubisoft games released more than decade ago

Also Sony basically run out of games to release on PC. Only 2 games fromPS5 era they have to release are GT7 and Demon's Souls. So they will need to start releasing PS4 games.

Now that devs like Bluepoint have been freed from making some stupid GaaS game...they will finally port Demon Souls to PC. I think it will happen in the next 12-18 months.

Bloodborne I don't know. That still sounds like Sony won't touch it unless FromSoft agrees to do it themselves.

Sony really should release Astros playground for free on steam, just to get up some appetite for Astro Bot release later. Astros playground is so damn good! I cant wait to play the full game, just need to way for a sale.

And what will they release until then? :D What are their PC games for second half of this year and first half of 2026?

I think both Astro Bot and Demon Souls will make it out before the end of 2025.

Spider Man 2
TLOU2
Demon Souls
Astro Bot

It would be a good year for Sony plus I think over the summer they will announce another GaaS project. I believe they still have one in the chamber from all their studios and partner teams. There could be some other hidden thing they are working on and Death Stranding 2 might just launch on PC day 1 too or with a very short exclusivity. Who knows.

But really I think their next strategic move will be to push out 1st party games day and date with PC.

They will do it with their own store on PC ofc. With Nintendo eating their lunch in Japan and the west is shifting more n more towards PC gaming + Nintendo will be even bigger in the west imo since the Switch 2 will be able to attract even more 3rd party devs.

I think Sony will have to go all in on PC so they can release their first party games day n date and then 6-12 months later they come to Steam. They are kind of establishing the foundation with the account requirements already. I just see this as an inevitable move.

So in 2026 we most likely get Ghost of Yotei and Wolverine day 1 on PC.

Also if they are working on a new handheld I believe that thing will be tied to PC gaming in some way too. They are gonna do something similar to what Valve does with SteamOS. I think you can buy a PS game and be able to play it on Console/PC/Handheld. Maybe not as consumer friendly but that is probably the easiest path for Sony to make it work without pissing off their console only diehards.

They released like 7 games for the PS5 so far, it wasn't going to be too hard to reach the end of the catalogue.
