How to make sure your models get ripped 100%. Spite people.

Also big "due to high demand we've decided to make a PC version after all" energy down the road.

It's bait like Nabs said.
this is just a marketing gag. They want you to talk about them, be mad at them, etc. Then they will of course still release on PC and it will get attention once again. Honestly, it's not the dumbest marketing strategy. Better than what most indies do, which is pretty much nothing. At least this stuff is memorable.

Tried the two recent-ish PC/multiplatform 3D platform games that seemed to have good word of mouth.

Bakeru is okay, it didn't quite hit the mark for me. Perhaps a bit too combat happy, Idk, nothing seems very wrong. The Smurfs - Dreams seems very very good.

I think both Astro Bot and Demon Souls will make it out before the end of 2025.

Spider Man 2
TLOU2
Demon Souls
Astro Bot

It would be a good year for Sony plus I think over the summer they will announce another GaaS project. I believe they still have one in the chamber from all their studios and partner teams. There could be some other hidden thing they are working on and Death Stranding 2 might just launch on PC day 1 too or with a very short exclusivity. Who knows.

But really I think their next strategic move will be to push out 1st party games day and date with PC.

They will do it with their own store on PC ofc. With Nintendo eating their lunch in Japan and the west is shifting more n more towards PC gaming + Nintendo will be even bigger in the west imo since the Switch 2 will be able to attract even more 3rd party devs.

I think Sony will have to go all in on PC so they can release their first party games day n date and then 6-12 months later they come to Steam. They are kind of establishing the foundation with the account requirements already. I just see this as an inevitable move.

So in 2026 we most likely get Ghost of Yotei and Wolverine day 1 on PC.

Also if they are working on a new handheld I believe that thing will be tied to PC gaming in some way too. They are gonna do something similar to what Valve does with SteamOS. I think you can buy a PS game and be able to play it on Console/PC/Handheld. Maybe not as consumer friendly but that is probably the easiest path for Sony to make it work without pissing off their console only diehards.
Doubt that they will go with Day 1 yet. They will try to fill their schedule for both PS5 and PC with remasters and Remakes first.

Insane I've never heard of this! Looks legit
Apparently it's a Super Mario 3D World/Land "clone". It's well made and seems to have a decently unique identity/theme. I thought it had some hype because of how close to Mario it is but I guess that only works for Astro Bot and I just happened to come across some positive media as it doesn't have too many user reviews on Steam so I guess it didn't do that great even though word of mouth is positive. Or maybe because of that likening to Mario people expected that much more from it and it was a bit unrealistic for the small studio and relatively small publisher to deliver on every front (I just googled how long it takes to beat and it seems like it's a relatively short game, the intro is mostly static images etc., but yeah to me it seems like a very solid game so far & probably better coop).

Just finished FFXVI. Amazing game, unbelievable characters, combat, lore, acting and story. RPG elements are really light and side missions are a chore. But overall it was fantastic. But that ending,,,, left me kind of empty. What a slap to the face after a 40-hour playthrough.

Btw super shitty PC port lol. I struggle to run it smoothly on my 4050 laptop, miss my 4070 rig that I left back in my country :pensive-face:

The KDE version shipped is really old and missing some key features. If you want a SteamOS experience that is a bit more updated you can't go wrong using Bazzite.
The Deck SteamOS is also KDE, you probably meant Debian which was the base distro for the old Steam Machine SteamOS.

:wd_warren:

As for SteamOS-likes, yeah Bazzite is fairly popular these days, it's Fedora based. Other options I see often mentioned are the Arch based (like the new SteamOS) CachyOS and EndeavourOS.
Of those two I'd probably recommend CachyOS for new users based solely on the fact that it offers two installer choices, one of which is GUI based. Endeavour is more terminal centric out of the box.

The side quest design is baffling. They made voiced story for each side quest, and many of them are nicely-written, but the actual gameplay contents are all fetching things or going from A to B lol. The MMO influence is real.

No I did not mean Debian. KDE on the stable branch of SteamOS is on version 5.25.. 6.2 introduces significant bug fixes that really enhances the desktop experience. (I have been using KDE since I believe 3.2). Especially under Wayland.

I am curious, why recommend CatchyOS? I use it as a daily driver and the learning curve for someone coming from Windows would be really steep, right? I do like some of the GUI tools but it's still quite a bit of terminal.

Moving from Windows to Linux is very viable now, almost the point where I'd recommend it to casual users (with an immutable distro like Bazzite). I haven't touched Windows at all in 1.5 years now. Depending on your hardware and setup, you may not be able to do everything that you can do on Windows, but it's continues to get closer.

If you want to just dock your SteamDeck and use it as a daily driver, that is possible, because that machine is quite capable. Ive used it like that before; and with a monitor, external keyboard and mouse you wouldnt know the difference to any desktop linux machine.

If youre unfamiliar with Linux, I wouldnt necessarily say you should switch distros, SteamOS is fine and usable, but it is true their version of KDE Plasma - the desktop environment outside the game mode - is outdated (SteamOS uses KDE Plasma 5.27, and the current version is 6.2), I hope Valve updates it soon.

Otherwise, if your needs for a PC include gaming (minus the things that dont run on the Deck, of course) and regular everyday usage, you should be fine. However, when we're talking more specialised software, like the Adobe Creative Cloud, or some other professional software that is Windows- or MacOS-only, then you might wanna keep your Win/Mac install.
But if you dont need any specialised software, I'd say just give it a try!

If you just need Linux for games and web browsing, it's more-or-less about ready to be used for that. Just pick a distro that vibes with you and jump in! And if something is bugging you about it, just try a different one.

Everyone loves Bazzite, but it gave me a bunch of problems, personally. I vibe with Arch.

Smurfs Dreams is legit great. I played it on Deck and liked it a lot. I also liked Bakeru.

Ah yeah, rereading your posts I see that I read it wrong, my mistake. You meant that the KDE version is old, whereas I read it as KDE version of SteamOS is old.

As for CachyOS, I've just seen it around in a bunch of gaming circles here and there, No personal experience whatsoever with it, but I was checking the website some days ago and saw "user-friendly GUI version" in their feature list so I figured it might be a decent starter.

All the best for 2025!
Pure PR stunt and it's worked. Never even heard of the game until this.
And what will they release until then? :D What are their PC games for second half of this year and first half of 2026?
Dex, they haven't even marketed their game releasing this month

You think they give a fuck if they don't have games for later this year or next?

To me the biggest revelation from playing FF16 is that every modern game should have a photo mode. There are so many stunning locations or spots in FF16 telling players to their face that they have to take photos here. I obliged. Took many of them during my current playthrough and going to take a lot more.

It is a crime that Xenoblade games do not have photo mode. The graphical fidelity may not allow the cleanest shots but the locations in those games are absolutely spectacular. Now hoping that the next game from Monolith Soft will have the feature.
